I had him for around 28-ish in Awakening, just for his general attitude and looks. If he was taken to the Tower at 12, that would average an escape attempt every two or so years, minus the year he spent in solitary. I do wonder about his longest period on the run, apart from the one resulting in him becoming a Warden. How long did he evade capture, and what did he do in the meantime?

Yeah that's about right. I was a bit off because for some reason I thought he wasn't taken to the tower until he was 15 - they said he was taken later than most and my brain just leapt from there.

Finn in Witch Hunt said that first attempt when he swam across the lake only lasted a week. So he probably would have managed to get to Redcliffe and have a night of fun before the Templars caught up with him :)

I love that comic someone posted about that escape, with the campy templar.

I dont know, but Im going to guess he is 27 - 29 in DA2...? Maybe even 30, but isnt Hawke a teen when she/he meets Flemeth and all? I hope not, cause Anders would be 10 years older.. But I guess I can get over it!

I like that templar.

I figure Hawke for 23 and twins for 19/20.

Its going to be a bit awkward for me to see Anders as a healer, somehow i always had this image of him as an rebel offensive mage who has immense control over the fade powers

Now with Justice inside him i have no idea to foresay how i might use

But on any day i did find him in my party rather than merill... though Morrigan would be the ultimate choice...

He's always been a Spirit Healer though so his occupation in DA2 serves continuity just right. Although of course, I'm sure he will develop some Vengeance specific offensive magic and he seems like a good balance of defensive/offensive so he'll be my main mage for sure.

"It is the Maker who creates mages. The Chantry was built by men, and it can be brought down by them."

Anders, the light-hearted rebel mage from Dragon Age: Origins, Awakening,
has changed. Urged by his friend Justice to fight the Circle of Magi
more actively, Anders agreed to become Justice's human host… only to
find that his anger at the Circle warped Justice into the demonic spirit
of Vengeance. Now Anders must struggle mentally and physically to
maintain his control over the demon within... at least long enough to
see the Circle of Magi overturned forever.
Does that mean he is no more witty and light hearted in his conversations?

Yay, that one!  That templar just seems so cheerful about the whole thing.

I only just realized that the templar was cut off while trying to say "sink".  I thought he was saying that wearing your armor while swimming was a sin.  I'm not sure which way is more funny.

If Anders does indeed struggle so much...I wonder if during one mission, or during an intimate moment Vengeance may break through. Think there may be a moment when Vengeance may stay longer than usual?

In the demo you can use the console to get Anders as a party member.

I'm assuming that's where it's from anyway, since it's locked ... I guess he's level 9 because they carried him over to the second half with Isabela.

You mean you can go to the party select screen in the demo?  I didn't even think of that...Unless you mean something else.  Could you explain what you mean by "console?"

Just did a run through the demo with an archer, so I could stand back with Anders and watch his animations. I know the gestures are probably pretty stock when turning on stuff like Elemental Weapons and Heroic Aura, but I do so love to see him do it. Those healing hands! Also, the black smoke, sparks, and blue hand when using his weapon look fascinating. Would not want to be on the receiving end of that!
I'm pretty sure that the model in the demo is the old one (probably also why you don't get any of his sounds and why Fenris and Merrill are unavailable), but it's something to tide us over for the rest of the week, yes?

also, the super spoiler topic at the top of the forum is taunting me. I clicked long enough to see a Carver spoiler and had to close the window. I want to know so bad, but I want it all to be a surprise!

No big Anders spoilers yet.  I don't think.  I've read that entire thread because I'm a weak, weak woman, and nothing Anders-related has jumped out at me.

The subtext for a companion quest was "Go speak to Anders at his clinic in Darktown."  D'aww, a clinic!  That sounds so... official.  And clinical.  It reminds me of Mordin Solus.

Oh, Anders. Why do you have to be so awesome? And inspire so many "playing doctor" jokes?

Yeah, there's nothing major about Anders over there. Just some quests related to him talking to other companions/getting to know them. Other than that, no need to worry.

<---- he'd really like to know if Anders likes Garrett though. >_<

Yeah, I just don't want to get smacked in the face with any major plot points, Anders-related or otherwise. The Carver thing was more than enough (and totally my own fault), and I'm not even going to keep him in my party on my first character.
