Ah well, I guess I'll be playing 'bold and tactless' as my first playthrough. That's fine, can't be any worse than my life-hating Dalish Warden.

I'm just going to have to hope that there are other flirt lines available for Anders, otherwise I might have to deal with some cringing there. Not cool, Hawke. Kind of hilarious in a dear God WHY sort of way, but not cool.
It could always get worse...
Hawke: Look at this... sneaking into the healer's clinic. Heavy risk... but the priiiiiiize
I hope we won't need to make a She-Hawke video to go along the Shep-Wolf one.
I kind of have the urge to play as Sexual Harrassment!Hawke now. Wherever the flirt icon rears its ugly head, she will be there. It will be hugely inappropriate. And awesome.

I'm watching that 1-Up video again (because it's just Anders-tastic), and I love their reaction to the flirt line. "You are a shamless ****. He's like 'WHAT?!'"
Ahahaha yeah even I was like "um... INAPPROPRIATE MUCH," but I'm hoping we might be able to flirt with him more tactfully later on...? LOL
When I first heard about the flirt, all I could think was that my Cousland would so say that to him, but sorta jokingly to cheer him up. He would get it then, but he doesn't know Hawke well enough, and the tone doesn't work, so it does come off so...blantant.
Yeah, it reminds me of the "Hell, you were always ugly, Garrus" line in ME2...but that line was only great because you two were old friends from ME, and that's exactly what I'd do to cheer an old friend up...make fun of them jokingly.
It seems a bit WTF in the context, but given his response to it, I'm going to say it's my Hawke's ridiculously inappropriate attempt to cheer him up. I can retcon in my own mind, haha.

It actually reminded me his reaction to my warden's "pretty-girl-right-here" line. "Yes, you are a pretty girl, and I love you, but not in THAT way". He's so cautious.

Ah, Sexual Harrassment! Hawke... your space cousin Shepard would approve. And now I have this scenario stuck in my head:
Hawke: Hey, ready to get down and dirty?
Anders: Sure, just hang on a second...
::Anders eyes glow blue::
Vengeance: Why don't you take a seat right over there?
Hawke: ::runs:: ::tackled by cops::

Does he really say something like that to the Warden? I can't recall.

I've combined his 2 different lines actually. First, when you say "pretty-girl-right-here" he says that maybe he's closer to his dream than he thought, but when you return to save the Keep later he jokes how much he loves you for this, but not in THAT way. So, the whole thing left the impression that he doesn't mind to flirt a little but is not interested in the Warden. He also looked really surprised when the Warden said that friends support each other.leggywillow wrote...

But then he sort of abruptly shifts gears like 'rant over, let's go'.
Edit: Baw, ninja'd. Also, I now cannot get Creeper!Hawke out of my head.. I think the gaudy make-up choices in the vid didn't help the whole 'hunting for a guy' vibe. (personal experience talking there)

I'm hoping mHawke carries that flirt line a little better. But yeah, I concur with the person above ... I won't be able to resist picking every darned flirt line (and then worrying that my one true love will get jealous and it'll shut down the romance).
At least you won't be able to complain that you were ninjamanced! You're begging for it in this case.
I just... can't bring myself to pick that line, not on my first Hawke. She might be tactless, but she's at least got style.

To be honest I actually find M!Hawke/Anders more appealing then F!Hawke/Anders... but I strongly suspect that's because I've had my head held under the sea of yaoi far too long by my manga-loving friends.

Aye. If it's an option with M!Hawke I do hope he puts it out there in a way that doesn't sound so creepy. Having said that, I think it's the breathy way Fem!hawke says everything, makes it all sound dirty. Whereas M!Hawke seems to have a more deadpan delivery.

Heh, and despite not having pursued any f/f relationships in BW games before, I'm finding myself shipping Merrill/fHawke over Merrill/mHawke.
(Totally with you on the Anders/mHawke though ... not that that will come as a surprise)

*grins* I personally think it's the sheer overwhelming amount of manly beardage/stubble. You can't get that level of chin-bristling with F!Hawke.
I really haven't seen enough of Merrill to decide on her yet, but if I'm not hating her guts yet tis a good sign. plus, I really like Eve Myles as an actress.

Hey fans! I typed up a transcript last night during the 1Up video. I know it was hard to hear over the obnoxious people, so...anyone interested? I managed to get everything but a couple lines. I suppose I could a) post it here, orPM it to someone, if spoilers are a concern (though in my opinion it isn't "that" spoilerish).
I'm definitely interested, thanks!
We've already known what happens in Anders's quest for a while so I don't really see it as spoilerish. I'm not as bothered by spoilers as other people though.

DO NOT READ THIS LONG POST IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED.
MEETING
Anders: I have made this place a sanctum of healing and
salvation. Why do you threaten it?
Hawke: (sarcasm) Strange occupation for a Warden. Aren't you
more about taint and death, not healing and salvation?
A: Did the Wardens send you to bring me back? I'm not going.
Those bastards made me get rid of my cat! Poor Ser Pounce-a-lot. He hated the
Deep Roads.
H: (investigate) You had a cat named Ser Pounce-a-lot? In
the Deep Roads?
A: He was a gift. A noble beast. Almost got ripped in half
by a genlock once. He swatted the bugger on the nose. Drew blood, too. The
blighted Wardens said he "made me too soft." I had to give him to a
friend in Amaranthine.
H: I'm part of an expedition into the Deep Roads. Any
information you have could save people's lives.
A: I will die a happy man if I never think about the
blighted Deep Roads again. You can't imagine what I've come through to get
here. I'm not interested. Although...a favor for a favor. Does that sound like
a fair deal? You help me, I'll help you?
H: (sarcasm) Let's be more specific. I don't do anything
involving children or animals.
A: I have a Warden map of the depths in this area. But
there's a price...
(cut to irritating gum commercial, BLAH)
A: Join us there, and we'll ensure that [inaudible] we all
walk away free.
CHANTRY
A: I saw Karl go inside a few minutes ago. No templars so
far. Are you ready?
H: I didn't see anyone suspicious out here. Let's do this
fast.
A: All right. I'll handle the talking. You watch for
templars.
Karl: Anders, I know you too well. I knew you would never
give up.
A: What's wrong? Why are you talking like...
K: I was too rebellious. Like you. The templars knew I had
to be...made an example of.
A: No!
K: How else will mages ever master themselves? You'll
understand, Anders. As soon as the templars teach you to control yourself. (to
templars) This is the apostate.
Anders/Justice: No!
AJ: You will never take another mage as you took him!
(commence fight)
K: (after fight, emotional) I--Anders, what did you do? It's
like...you brought a piece of the Fade into this world. I had already forgotten
what that feels like.
H: (sarcasm) What *did* you do? Not the Fade part--the angry
glowing bit.
K: It's like a gateway to the Fade inside you. Glowing, like
a beacon.
A: I have...some unique circumstances, yes. But, Karl, what
happened? How did they get you?
K: The templars here are far more vigilant than in Ferelden.
They found a letter I was writing you... You cannot imagine it, Anders. All the
color, all the music in the world, gone. I would gladly give up my magic, but
this! I'll never be whole again.
(cut to irritating gum commercial #2--characters discussing
whether Karl can be cured)
A: Can you cure a beheading? The dreams of Tranquil mages
are severed--there is nothing left of them to fix.
K: I would rather die a mage than live as a templar puppet.
(pointless cut to the 1Up people--inaudible, something about
"worse than death"?)
A: I got here too late. I'm sorry, Karl, I'm so sorry.
K: Now! It's fading...(Tranquil again) Why do you look at me
like that?
A: Goodbye. (murder knifes Karl) We should leave before more
templars come.
LATER
H: So, let me guess. This is the part where you tell me
you're an abomination?
A: You're wrong, [But not *far* wrong? inaudible] I...this
is hard to explain. When I was in Amaranthine, I met a spirit of Justice who
was trapped outside the Fade. We became friends. And he recognized the
injustice that mages in Thedas face every day.
H: (sarcasm) So, I wasn't so far off with that
"abomination" thing?
A: To live outside the Fade, he needed a host. I offered to
help him. We were going to work together, bring justice to every child ever
ripped away from his mother to be sent to the Circle. But...I guess I had too
much anger. Once he was inside me, he...changed.
H: (aggressive) So he's a demon now?
A: No! He is a spirit whose only purpose is to see the
innocent saved and the guilty punished.
Bethany: You tried to help a friend. Surely no harm can come
of that.
A: I wish I still had your innocence. There was too much
hatred in me. Justice thought he would overcome that. But my anger...when I see
templars now, things that have always outraged me, but I could never do
anything about...He comes out. And he is no longer my friend Justice. He is a
force of vengeance, and he has no grasp of mercy.
H: (flirt) So, that explains your whole sexy tortured look.
A: Perhaps I should check a looking glass more often. I had
not thought to ever find a woman who would look past what I just said. My maps are
yours, as am I, if you wish me to join your expedition. I thought I was done
with the Grey Wardens. But if you have any need of me...I will be waiting here.

I believe the guy said he imported his save from Origins.Threeparts wrote...
Re: Pounce, do you guys think that they were playing with a pre-set Origin, rather than an imported one? I'm wondering, if we import a Warden who completed Awakening and gave Pounce to Anders and/or ended it with high approval, if that part of the conversation might change. He could instead say something like, "I didn't even have a chance to get my cat before I had to leave".
Don't tell me I'm in denial, damn you!
My guess is that he only actually mentions Ser Pounce in the first place with the right imported save.
