Ooooh...TEW's idea made me think it was. I think it'd be cool to for Justice and Anders to do their lines in unison when he gets all Vengeancy, but that would be expensive.

I support this. Dual Voicing. Oh well.

You know that was a really odd fact for me at first, the whole child delivering thing, but I remember a moment in Awakening when we found that dying guy at Vigil's Keep at the beginning, and Anders offered (sadly) that they could probably  give him something to drink for the pain.  I think he knew when a person is too fargone for healing. He obviously is a very talented spirit healer despite being, well... Anders for lack of a better word. Spirit healers in general must know the workings of the body in order to be able to stitch wounds back together and etc... Plus, wasn't he trained in herbalism when we first ran into him, too?  Or was that Velanna?  I can never remember these things.  Anyway, he's done a very good job and has gained a lot of respect in Kirkwall, given how so many people wanted to protect him.  Oh Anders, put aside that hate for a second and see how many people appreciate you!

... But all this talk about Anders being a healer with a clinic is making me think dirty thoughts now.  Hawke may want to play doctor with him once or twice.  "Oh no, I think I hurt my ankle, could you look at it closer for me...? <3"

Those hands... Oh God those hands! I'm a sucker for hands, and glowing eyes. ^^

I do wonder how in-depth they're going to go with these relationships. I mean ten years is a long time. I've known people who are married in two!

HAWKE: Oh, Anders! [SWOONS]
ANDERS: What? [STARES] ...Are you drunk?
HAWKE: [SCOWLS] No, I'm terribly wounded.
ANDERS: [FROWNS] I don't see anything wrong with you.
HAWKE: [STALKS CLOSER] Oh, well, it's someplace you can't see.
ANDERS: [EYES NARROW] Are you sure you're not drunk?
HAWKE: [PRESSES AGAINST HIM] I'm quite sober, Doctor.
ANDERS: [EYES WIDEN] Well, you certainly seem to be... unsteady on your feet.
HAWKE: It's quite bad. [PURRS] I think... you should do a full body examination.
ANDERS: [LEERS] It would be irresponsible to ignore something that could be so severe. I should start right away. Please, have a seat on my... table.
HAWKE: [SMIRKS] Of course, Doctor.

...I think I just gave Lady Hawke a medical fetish. Posted Image

Oh gosh, I know right?  Anders' hands are entrancing... relates back to my healer rambling above.

I really wonder, too.  I really don't think marriage will be on the plate since I think marriage is viewed more as a political thing, or at least in Ferelden that's how it is.  Marriage = baby making and strengthening bloodlines.  Love is usually not in the picture.

a lady mentions that he's closed people's wounds and delivered their children.

Why do I find picturing him delivering children funny?

I didn't hear about him delivering children! I have a story where he aids in the delivery of a baby and felt like I was pushing the boundaries of his abilities by doing that. I guess not!

And, seriously, I built an entire relationship with my Warden out of Anders' healing abilities. She's a reaver who pushes herself to the edge of death in every battle! He's the handsome healer who will keep her alive, fret over her when everything is said and done, and then admonish her for being so careless with her own safety, but mostly because he likes her and as long as she likes him (and finds him so useful), he's safe!

You have a point, after 7 years with my partner we're getting married this summer. At the very least a relationship over such a long time would lead you to imagine some form of committment.

I'm guessing mages won't be allowed to marry in Kirkwall. I don't mind this because weirdly, even though I am getting married, I don't think you have to be to stay together and be committed.

That said - if romantic interactions diappear after years 2 or 3 simply because you've 'used them up' I'll be pissed off.

My thing about hands is mostly because they're so useful I guess. Make of that what you will. Posted Image

I'm mostly interested because when you consider you could get Alistair/Lel/Zev/Morrigan head over heels for you in less than a year whillst tromping 'round the countryside, there's so much greater scope for Hawke.

I agree about the marriage thing though, but maybe having your LI move into Hawke House?

I've been with my boyfriend for six years, and we live together with no plans to marry. It works for us and I would be fine with a situation (with any of the LIs) that was similarly informal.

And I imagine that romance is more structured than it is in Origins. Since you can only converse when the game allows it, and since there are clearly defined acts, it will probably be closer to ME/ME2 where you had to finish certain quests before you could move on to the next stage of the relationship.

@ Nivilant Thanks!

@ SurelyForth I totally agree with you - I think anything other than an informal arrangement might seem a bit didactic on the part of the devs as well.

I haven't played ME or ME2 - but what you say gives me hope that the progression will seem more naturalistic.

I hated the way in DAO your conversations dried up after you'd either had sex or admitted your feelings. I ended up saving the 'Where do you see this going question?' with Alistair until the last moment (which was actually pretty cool, after you'd made your plans for the future ie marriage or mistress he'd be like: I'm not letting you get away, that's for sure) just so we had something to talk about.

Hey that's cool! It will actually be seven years to the day when my chap and I tie the knot. I'm sentimental because we got together on a Friday 13th!

Long term ftw indeed!

Haha, all this talk of marriage makes me feel very young indeed! <---- Never even had a boyfriend/girlfriend.

ME's progression was pretty good actually. Felt more natural than the interrogation you give them in DA:O. But I think it's also down to players to pace themselves too. You could well string it out in DA, it's just the option was there if you wanted it. I think gift-spam didn't help with pacing either, so hopefully the inability to shower Alistair with ox bones this time around will help.

Yes I think so, when you ask him what he will do after all this (Awakening events) he quips he'll become a hedge wizard and make love potions. Even jokingly I think he would know something about potion making.

I can't remember which review, but one of them mentioned that just because you sleep with a character doesn't mean the relationship is over in DA2. They praised the fact that the romances evolve over the ten year period.

I'll try to dig up the link...

With Leliana there was. You could proposition Alistair before even knowing he was Maric's son or doing his personal quest- you just have to get his approval to Adore which can be done with gifts and dialogue.

At least one review has mentioned that DA2 romances go beyond just getting it on.

The first time you see Anders he shoots fire blast killing loads of darkspawn, but when you get him in your party...no fire blast spell.
