You know, provided that Hawke isn't left trying to convince the other six that it's fine! He's harmless! If he turns on us we can just cut off his head! Come on, guys! You can take down a Harvester and spiders the size of a house, but you're freaking out at a little abomination?

Hah! I could see this. And the party being irritatingly logical about it.

Aveline: Hawke, he's in the party. You know anyone in the party is automatically a bajillion times more powerful than the enemies.
Carver: Plot-Fu little brother.
Hawke: Right exactly! I'm the main character! I can Plot-Fu better than anyone! It'll be fiiiiine, really guys, c'moooon. Posted Image
Carver: ...We better not be playing on nightmare cause I swear if I get friendly-fire'd by him he's a goner.
Vengeance: ... This is unjust.

... You know I think somewhere down the line we've focused on Garrett and forgotten about Marian. Oops?Posted Image

Boredom beckons, and, thus, I give this:

D8 CAVER and ANDERS 8D

CARVER: So, my sister tells me you like cats.
ANDERS: Oh, what? So you're talking to me now? I thought you'd be glaring at the back of my head forever.
CARVER: I am going to keep glaring at you. Forever. But, my sweet, dear sister has taken a shine to you.
ANDERS: So you want us to get along.
CARVER: And so, cats.
ANDERS: Uh, yes? I... like cats.
CARVER: She's always liked cats. Played with our mousers all the time.
ANDERS: And... you?
CARVER: I didn't have any favorites. My job was to watch the birds, make sure no wolves were coming close to the farm.
ANDERS: Come on! You had to like one animal.
CARVER: Well, the roosters were interesting.
ANDERS: [SNICKERS]
CARVER: What? What did I say? I didn't--
ANDERS: [GIGGLES HELPLESSLY]
CARVER: ...You were about to make an inappropriate joke, weren't you?
ANDERS: [WHEEZING] T-too perfect! couldn't... couldn't say anything!
CARVER: ...I hate you. So much.

I really hope Carver and Anders have interactions half as epic as the ones we come up with here. I'm positive my main party is going to be Carver, Sebastian, and Anders. Oh, the LULZ to be had!

I blame being on GMT myself. Not often I find that something to be grumpy about, but there you go.

EDIT: Also - as ever the potential for Anders/Carver banter has me giggling. I really hope it's as epic as we're all imagining.

I'm going to have to keep Carver around, too.  I can't NOT, I have to hear what little brother has to say about Hawke's boyfriend.   I don't know who the fourth will be, though.  Need a rogue for all that unlocking of locked things.

*sigh* I love the UK and all but sometimes the time differences are just painful.

My first Hawke is going to be a rogue anyway just in case I decide I don't like Izzy or Varric (not likely but yeah) so my party will probably be mage, warrior, warrior. Anders obviously being the mage. Looks like Bethany may be cooling her heels for most of the game. I might bring Fenris and Aveline for sheer disapproval of mages. Then pull a troll face when I go against the chantry.

But male mage Hawke? Yeah, definitely bringing Carver along.

Edit: Listening to Simple Plan, found this strikingly appropriate for mages in general. Apostates unite! Defy the Templar oppressors!

Are we forgetting Team Harem? Anders, Fenris, Sebastian. Mage, Warrior, Rogue. Nice and balanced.

And I'm playing a Dual-Wielding Rogue, so all the better.

Everyone living in the UK should appeal for Tuesday release dates!

Yeah, I'm totally bringing Carver along at some point. I just begin to wonder how many party members will really trust Anders...

Maybe will elaborate on my thoughts once this inventory lady at work stops hovering. WHEEEE~

My fourth is Isabella I think I am very curious about that gal, I sense another bad girl BFF in that one. I do tend to switch my party around to get the most of it though but we'll see. (In ME2 I switch ALL members around before leaving a planet to get all the banter....)

Oh I wish it could be done! While people in America are playing DA2 I'll be sitting in the corner of my bedroom weeping.

Haha! Yay for hovering work people who suddenly loom and make you frantically close you browser windows full of po- I-I mean non-work forum-going! Posted Image

I'll most likely switch out some party members at some point, and I suspect we may have some mandatory members at times. Although I do notice that during their recruitment missions they don't actually join the party but rather act as a fifth party member. This pleases me.

Team Harem sounds awesome. Hi, I'm Ladyhawke, and these are my mens.

I don't think I'll be keeping Carver, at least not for my first playthrough. I had wanted to play a mage for my first Anders romance -- for the mage solidarity and understanding -- but I really didn't like playing a mage in the demo. So I am thinking of going the opposite, playing the protective warrior who is used to looking out for her magic-wielding family members. Then she will have that sort of protective edge to her feelings about Anders -- he is a mage who has had the worst happen to him, so to speak. But all that means that I have to keep Bethany and lose Carver. *sniff*

Well, for cases where I need a really solid tank, I'll probably substitute Aveline for Fenris. Sword and shield > two-hander.

Will always have Anders though. Yay, healers!

It's ok! I won't be here for a good two weeks at least after the 8th, it's better that you way you enjoy the game untainted! (that made me giggle...)

I hope what you say about mandatory party members is true, I hate it when they 'steal' a spot! ><:;

I totally want to do at least one playthrough with Team Harem, and I'm also planning a Team Girl Power playthrough too, with Isabela, Merrill/Bethany, and Aveline.  But since I'm playing a mage first, Team Harem will probably be more balanced, luckily.  My only regret is that I cannot romance them all at once, lol.

I think I'm going to have to shut down my internet access this weekend.  It's the only way I'll be able to stop myself from looking at spoilers.  And I'm anticipating that soon the game will ship, and Best Buy and Gamestop employees will get their grubby little hands on copies to play and stream online.  I will be SO badly tempted to check them out.  But I think I'm at the point right now where I've seen enough about the game where I won't be totally surprised going in, but I still can enjoy any plot twists.  Must stay strong!!!

You know I really like this idea. I'm one of those people that never plays as myself, it's always a crafted persona with choices that they would choose, not what I would go with. (Case in point being my main Warden, Evrae: Dalish Elf Warrior. Rotten temper and a very bitter young lady. Not like my bubbly self! Posted Image)

I plotted my rogue as being a very free person. The kind that hates seeing people controlled. So naturally she's none too happy with the chantry. She's also a bit of a non-believer, so religion doesn't factor for her.

Conversely, Male Mage Hawke (MMH? Sounds like a very appreciative noise... er...) is an angry, angry person over having to stow himself and Bethany away, so he's a lot more confrontational and aggressive.

Going off on a tangent. Whoops.

I am the same way. I have more fun if I have an interesting persona to play with. I usually start with a character that is peaceful, diplomatic, kinda serious, and loyal to her friends to the point of being blind to their faults. I figure that works pretty well for an Anders romance.

HAWKE: I don't care if he is possessed, Templar. You're not touching him. *brandishes weapon*

Yeah.

Anyone else planning their character around their romance possibilities with Anders?

ETA: Kriselia. That comic is made of win.

@tarantella and Kriselia:  OMG hilarious!  MOAR!

Unfortunately I won't have Carver my first playthrough, which makes me unbelievably sad.  D:  Carver is the character I'm most looking forward to after Anders, but I never play mages first.  For my first playthrough, I usually pick a warrior class so I can just bash my way through enemies and enjoy the story.  Tactics and finesse come with later playthroughs.

I won't be doing a warrior my 1st time around, because I'm going the DW rogue route.  :?  I am actually very upset about not having Carver, but I also like the idea of Anders with a rogue.  Little brothers are awesome.

My tentative squad for my 1st playthrough is Anders (healer), Bethany (DPS), and Fenris or Aveline as the tank.

Not so much planning around it as 'factoring it in heavily'. I do want to try rivalmance at some point. Sounds fun. I also hope gaining friendship isn't about blindly agreeing with them. It's why I liked Sten, because he didn't approve of the suck-up lines and preferred characters with backbone.

One trait common among my characters that I cannot shake is loyalty. I just cannot bring myself to play a backstabber, it's so far out of my range. So yeah, that's how I know it definitely wasn't my Warden in charge of Vigil's Keep during Anders' mini-story. And if she ever finds out about it, oh lordy!
