Aye. I think I'd already clicked regarding the act one spoilers so maybe that's part of the reason too. And I didn't read the mission walkthroughs either since I'd like to go into those fresh.

Still, the characters bios were nice to read, and the details on the romance progression.

Weirdly though, I've sort of been turned off Fenris. I don't know what it is but he's the first character to begin rubbing me up the wrong way.

I agree. I was never a big Fenris person to start out with (thought he might be a Zeveran-like character, and no one can replace Zevran XD) but with the few character spoilers I've read, I don't think I'll be bringing him along too often. Maybe. I don't know.

Anders is looking to be a constant companion, though, like Zevran for me in DAO. XD

We don't know when we'll meet him (only a vague "early in the game" but no idea in what context),we don't know how he'll react to Hawke and his whole group (except for one line when he sees him the first time) and while we have assumptions about his storyline we don't really know anything about that either.
So no,definitely not changing my character. I look forward to romancing Anders () but I will not play a whole game with a Hawke whose personality is based on getting some character he/she hasn't even met yet into their bed.
(Although I'd really like to romance Anders as a mage or templar...but we'll see..)

Perhaps it's because he seems like such a downer.

My constant companions in Origins were Zevran (lockpick and snark), Morrigan and...Wynne (the healing bint). It was a bit like the three rude children and their chaperone grandmother with the tutting and the Eyebrow of Disapproval.

Awakenings was Anders, Nathaniel (lockpick!!) and.... Justice. Once again I got the Eyebrow of Disapproval while Anders and Nate talked about robes and lack thereof (snorted cola out my nose first time that one came up).

So I'm used to having serious characters... but Fenris doesn't do it for me. I expect I'll trade him up for Seb. Or Aveline. The Av can be my third Eyebrow of Disapproval.

Now I'm curious about the smeared-out bits. Not enough to go digging, mind you, but curious. Can't wait until I can get my hands on a guide of my own--!

That thread is always blowing up, aren't they past a thousand pages by now? Scary. Reminds me of the Thane and Tali threads during the lead-up to ME2.

If I had that party dynamic I'd forever be making an enemy of Fenris. I simply will not advocate his views, certainly not on the first playthrough. (the one bit of bias that'll be slipping through my playthroughs). Still, if everything was happy-joy-joy it'd be awfully boring.

Plus, does anyone else find it adorable how emotional Anders seems to be? I really just want to hug him, poor guy needs a break. Bring the man a kit-kat for Maker's sake!

Ohyah... and out comes Hawke's protective side.

Haven't posted in the Anders thread in awhile to try and avoid spoilers, but my resolve finally broke.

I don't think I have ever been so excited over anything in my life, ever. Reading the little blurb on Anders that was provided above reminded me, once again, that he is the EXACT fit for my Hawke just as Alistair was the exact fit for my Warden. Literally, sometimes I think that me from the future is writing these games, because everything that happens in them is exactly what I'd been hoping/praying for.

I am squeeing so hard right now.

Edited to say: Well, perhaps I was equally excited for the birth of my children or the 7th Harry Potter book. Maybe. No guarantees.

It's interesting to hear that Anders isn't sympathetic towards blood mages. Maybe he and Merrill will be less friendly than I first imagined. I also figured that he's an 'emotional' guy, but still, if 'emotional' means 'like Alistair'... Hmm.

I found the same things interesting. The blood mage distaste really makes me think that my character would have a far larger chance of going the Friendship route- as far as I can tell, the only thing I don't approve of is massacring Templars. (Usually.)

And I guess for all the flirting in Awakening, he's a one-woman guy at heart. That's what I took from it, at least.

He's either a one-lover guy, or he's in a delicate enough situation that he doesn't want to be strung along or have his heart broken.
