So, I haven't watched any streams yet, so I haven't seen Anders talk about his relationship with Karl, but does anyone know if it's any different with a female Hawke? I've seen people say that they do or don't want to hear about it if their preferred love interest is bisexual, but if this guy was important to him, I'd be sad if females missed out on the conversation. Of course, I also would not want to be put in another "Carth Syndrome" situation, even if the former lover was female, and have to hear about how great the dead person I can't possibly live up to was. Just don't want to miss out if he talks more to Male Hawke about who Karl was to him...

I've got pages to catch up to on this thread, but this was the first new post  I read and Threeparts you've made my eyes water. I enjoyed that so much and to be honest I think it highlights Anders better then the official romance blurb we got (sorry Ms Hepler!). I hope he talks about Karl, too. From what I've heard he asks M!Hawke if it bothers him that he's been with a man before, which seems like it could go both ways (and makes more sense, really, to bring up with a F!Hawke, since a M!Hawke could probably guess that Anders had been with dudes before).

I want to know what the timeframe for the whole Karl/Anders thing is. If Anders is surprised that someone can find him sexy after the whole Vengeance thing, does that mean that Karl is a pre-Wardens lover?

Karl is Anders' former lover? Hmm, well there's no accounting for taste, but I think the fact that Anders' former relationships are with ugly people is quite sweet. It suggests personality is important to him. The issues with Anders in his recruitment make more sense now too. And, this is confirmation then that all LI are bi? I knew it!

Also, Cullen is back? I wonder how that will even work. In my canon playthrough, he's (according to gossips in Witch Hunt) been sent to rehab somewhere. In another playthrough, he's the strict Knight-Commander to replace Greagoir. And in yet another playthrough, he's just a lunatic murderer on the run. How on earth is he going to end up being portrayed in DA2?

The poor guy probably looks worse than he used to due to the magical lobotomy he just had.  I will give Anders' taste a pass for the moment, Namaya was obviously a fling, this was probably more serious.

I did the mage boon at the end of Origins and Cullen...Cullen did some not so nice things. Not that Hawke would know, but I'm curious as to if that carries over and the Kirkwall templars actually KNOW he's an escaped murderer (or if Bioware chose to skip over that particular epilogue slide).

I also want to know about the Karl/Anders thing if you're female. I missed the livestream last night so I don't know if it's something he volunteers or if you have to ask some questions to get their history to come out. If so, it makes sense why the Game Night video of Anders didn't feature it. Unless that happened during a "gum-chewing" part, but you'd think SOMEONE would have reacted to it...

And from what Karl says, he's never seen Anders get all Vengeancey. So either it was before, or Anders hid it really, really well.

From what I've gathered, any epilogue that indicates the mage's boon was granted is a lie. Alistair/Anora asked and were soundly rejected.

Now I'm really curious about Karl's backstory. He's never been Harrowed, so either he's a lifelong apostate or has been in the Circle and is fairly young. If he's an apostate, I wonder if Anders met him during one of his escape attempts.

I really think it depends on how you approach that subject.  Yes, it might be a bit of a stereotype, but in the case of Anders... I think Mages in the Circle tend to be more "open-minded" if you will? ( I swear I've seen a dev conversation about this very thing. ) They turn to each other for all their comforting and sexual experimentation.  I think Anders just appreciates when someone doesn't turn him down for being a monster, and that he can find that same love out of both genders.  The guide saying that he's all for committment seems to prove this. 

He wants a companion that he can talk to and trust -- and sometimes this turns into physical intimacy (some people do find a lot of comfort in it).  /Ramble

From what I read, Gaider said that the boon was rejected, but that it would still come up if you asked. http://social.biowar...index/4629917/1  I can imagine the asking would cause more tension- the Kirkwall Circle (and other Circles, for that matter) being angry that the mage who saved the world didn't get it, and having a Mage Hero of Ferelden would set an example: mages can be free and not turn into crazy abominations, they can actually do a lot of good.

I've just had a thought regarding Cullen again, though, assuming he did go on a murderous rampage- Hawke wasn't in Ferelden after the Blight, so she wouldn't know....but Anders probably would. So imagine if he was in your party, and sees Cullen...

It's probably too much to hope for, but if there was ever a time for Vengeance to make an appearance...damn.

Yeah, that's generally how I look it. 

I just need to push RL experience to the side when I play the game.  Especially since, overall,  this is a big step forward.

Oh yeah, Anders would probably know about that. If not himself, then from the mage Warden, I think. I wonder if Cullen will still have issues about Surana/Amell. My mage Warden would have probably wanted to 'cure' Cullen of his post-trauma craziness. My mage Hawke will probably just want to kill him.

@goofygoff, Anders, Zev and Isabela might be promiscuous bisexuals, but on the other side you have Leliana, Merrill and possibly Fenris. Meanwhile there was Morrigan the possibly promiscuous straight girl. And Anders does seem serious about actual relationships, just not adverse to flirting and flings.

Yeah, I think for now we need to keep all spoiler talk to the Super Spoiler Thread.  Which would be bad for me, because I'm trying to be careful about what I hear, I don't mind certain bits of info, but I don't want to hear anything else about the main plot, for instance.

I think I will be departing this weekend too, and not coming back until after the 8th.  Hopefully I will be very happy with Anders' role when I finish the game.  The anticipation is killing me.
