As far as non-romancable party members are concerned, I honestly think Fenris is less likely than Anders considering his personal problem with touching . But I suspect, in the end, we'll lose out in the Varric camp, much as it saddens me. If there is ANYTHING left of the old Anders then I really can't see him going 10 years without getting any. That is SOO NOT HIM.

Actually, the news that Aveline is not a LI has increased my anxiety that Anders won't be, either. Like Aveline, he has a lot going on in his life. I could easily imagine his response to flirting as "Oh, so you want a cuddle, do you? And here I am, inhabited by this being of seething fury. No, that won't end badly, not at all."

On the other hand, Anders was never much good at restraint. He might decide to risk it after all. Or perhaps the romance can only be completed once he has evicted his rowdy houseguest.

I know what you mean, and I can see the reasons why he might not be, but I'm just going to stop up my ears and hope against hope. I'm not interested in any of the other male companions except for Sebastian, so I'd be devastated if they waved Anders in our face and then said 'none for you!'.
 
It kind of stinks what with the forum fangirls divided between the three that I have to wish someone else doesn't get their wish in order for me to get mine...

Yeah, Anders and Sebastian would be my picks for a LI, as well, with Anders leading by a wide margin. I hope that my anxiety is for naught and that I'll be making a post about how wonderful the Anders romance is sometime in March. One can hope.

I don't think Fenris' touching issue would exclude him from being an LI. If anything I would count out Sebastian because he's DLC, and it'd be unfair to make the only other LI a guy you have to pay for.

But I'm thinking Anders will be an LI, too. I mean...they wouldn't just bring Anders back to not make him an LI again, would they? ME2 players got Garrus

tbh I'd like Anders as a LI but Bioware will not necessarily cave to popular demand from the fans. If he's not then that just leaves Fenris and Varric for us girls and I have to say I'm not fussed on either. But if he's not a LI I imagine these boards will be flowing with fangirl tears - Didn't someone say that that's David Gaider's staple diet

I've heard this argument for Sebastian a lot, I'd like to think if he were an LI that he'd be like a 'bonus'. I don't understand this whole 'you shouldn't play for LIs' argument. Why not? You pay for all kinds of other DLC content. Why is LI-hood sacred? A lot of the male gamers are crying foul about that, but who knows if they might get a cute DLC gal of their own later on? Remember when Kasumi came out? Eeeeeverybody wanted a piece of that.

Still, now that Anders is confirmed he's far and away my number one choice. If they gave us Garrus by popular demand, why not Anders? <3

I have to think Anders is an LI... he already scraped by without being one in Awakening, there's no way he can be so unlucky twice. 

I can't help but think Anders is a shoe-in for LI status.  ::knocks on wood:: He's the only human, for one (not counting poor Sebastian, since he's probably out due to his DLC status) and I think if Isabela and Merrill are LIs, they will follow the same "1 human, 1 non-human" thing.

Varric sadly might be the odd man out.  I know he has a huge fanbase here on the forums, but I don't know if he'd be considered a "marketable" romance to everyone else (and the devs are quick to remind us that we forumites are the minority of people who play the game).  And Fenris was basically forged in the fires of Mount Doom to attract fangirls.

Lol I'm just trying to keep my expecations about this low so I don't end up brutally crushed if he's not an LI. I'm not that interested in Isabela or Merrill, so I was bummed about the Aveline bit, but I am very interested in Anders, Fenris, Sebastian, and Varric. All 4 are more appealing to me than Alistair and Zevran were tbh.

Some thoughts I was mulling over in the shower this morning (everyone knows the shower is the best thinkin' spot in the house, right?) is that I really don't think we're going to see much of Justice/Vengeance as a distinct, coherent personality entirely separate from Anders' own.

If Anders is indeed fighting to retain control over the spirit, then I highly doubt he'd willing let J/V have the slightest bit of control over Anders' body. After all, what could be worse for a man who hates captivity to lose control over his own body to another being?

If J/V could possess Anders in the way that the desire demon possessed Connor, I think it would only be during periods of high stress, like anger or fear. Connor still retained a degree of control over himself - enough to warn the Warden that the demon was dangerous and not to go near Eamon - and he was an unschooled kid. Anders is an experienced mage who would have dealt with spirits in the Fade before - he did pass his Harrowing, after all.



Above all, I'm curious to see how other party members, especially Bethany, Aveline or Mage!Hawke treat him. He is technically an abomination, the kind we slew by the dozen in DAO.

I wouldn't consider it caving, just... Giving their customers what they want? It worked for Tali and Garrus!

@dreamextractor: Alistair is my warden's main man, but from a completely shallow standpoint, I find Anders and Sebastian way more attractive than him. Fenris and Varric.. eh. I'd have to see their personalities in game to decide if I'd take them over Zevran, but I definitely prefer Alistair to both of them as it stands.

@Threeparts: I hope that you're right and it will mostly be Anders. If J/V can only come out when he's really angry or stressed, that would also help with an LI option because one would hope he wouldn't be particularly angry during any... encounters.

It is quiet easy to write an Anders & Justice/Vengeance ends up in Kirkwall Scenario:



- If he returns to the wardens and Justice is still in Kristoff body he can leave, on Justice insistence, and fight the injustice of the mages together and return to the wardens when done.



- If his personal quest wasn't complete or was handed over to the templars, Justice takes pity on him and decides to aid him in his quest.



- Justice can take pity on a dying Anders and decides to sustain him and help him seek justice.



- If Anders never met Justice in Awakening for whatever reason he can simply be visited by the spirit in the fade while he dreams and they decide to work together.

but... in all honesty, shouldnt all characters have a chance to be an LI? i mean just like in "real life" we have a chance with everyone. Sure Aveline is married so thats a valid reason to rule her out but any other single character should be available as an LI i think. some harder to crack than others of course, such as Fenris.
