I'm trying to draw Anders and female Hawke.. Trying. Failing.
Going to eat paper in a minute.

First time I'm actually drawing something properly =P

EDIT: Why does it keep saying 'You requested an invalid category or you do not have permission to view this forum.'??

Forum's running really slow for me too, sometimes it doesn't let me post and keeps saying that about topics.
I'm guessing heavy traffic or some maintenance or such going on.

Yeah I have to say, even if I didn't plan on romancing Anders, I would be bringing him along for the healing capabilities. Healing may have taken a hit from it's spam-nature in Origins, but it is still just way too useful.

I think it's great that Anders is a healer :D
I liked Wynne in Origins but having someone like Anders is... I don't know... different ^_^
No elf girl who hates you because you are a human or an old woman supporting the Circle of Magi... -_- I liked her but I hate both the circle and the chantry.
Especially the Chantry.
The fact that Anders is possessed makes it even more interesting... I often imagine Anders going crazy and hurting someone he likes (Hawke ? XD) and then trying to save him/her... (Not that this couldn't happen with one of the other characters but... whatever XD)

My only concern for Anders' character really is that if he does turn out to be morally grey or do some questionable things (which I wouldn't put past Bioware, this seems like a pretty dark game) that people will use Vengeance as a scapegoat to preserve the 'good healer'. Thereby turning it into a very black and white issue (this is Anders, this is Vengeance. The two are completely separate and thus it's not Anders' fault at all).

Even in Awakening he wasn't an innocent. There are hints that the cheery attitude is just a front even then. For example, his abrupt tonal change when talking about feedom (and pie).

I would hate for people to 'leather pants' him (as the trope goes) and ultimately blank out his darker tendencies. It's what I like about fictional characters (why I liked Loghain in fact).

Draco in leather pants, yay! XD
I wouldn't even like Anders if he was like that. (I mean, just "good and happy" or something like that <_<)

I never liked Loghain for what he did. Especially because I don't know why he did all those things after battle at Ostagar o_o Maybe I would feel more sorry for him if I read the book (I forgot the name) or something, but since I'm playing as the Warden, I would never let Loghain live and send Alistair away.

As long as there is a good reason for characters to do something, I don't hate them xD
Well, most of the time. I really hate Oghren. No matter what happened to you, there's no reason to drink yourself to death. I'm trying to make this clear to someone in my family right now. Bah.
I don't like characters who act like ***holes and... Well, you know what I mean "xD
It's not neccessary to say that I always play "good" characters, is it? xD  So you could say that the only really boring character is my own, because everyone else is never entirely "good" or "bad". XD

My favourite characters are... well, people like Anders and Alistair (yes, because they're so hot, sexy, blond, bi, not bi, romanceable, snarky and exactly how I want my future husband to be - everyone who isn't possessed by their former friend has no chance at all.)

I also don't like it if everyone thinks that Alistair is just a whining idiot who cracks jokes all the time. Yes, he is silly, and at the beginning, he does "whine". And when I played Dragon Age for the first time, I spared Loghain - and Alistair left. (Well, he would have, but I had saved the game, so... "xD) I didn't get it back then, because I thought that Alistair was a "good" person and wanted to save as many as he could.
Unlike other characters, while Alistair does say how he feels when you ask him about the Wardens and so on, he never talks about something like revenge, that he wants to kill Loghain because he took everything away from him  and this is the reason why he stays with the Warden, even if he or she is a complete ***. It's not just the Blight.
(I once watched a video of the ending where Alistair marries Anora and Loghain survives. Did you play this? Or watch it? ... I was actually scared when Alistair shouted at the Warden. ;_;  I can't do that. Even though it's just a game. I'm such an idiot T_T I also make sure that Anders and the others in Awakening survive "xD)
I'm not trying to say that it makes him "dark" or whatever xD. And maybe I'm exaggerating and I only think so because I'm an Alistair fangirl XD
But Alistair really isn't that nice. I remember him saying "Oh, who am I kidding? I don't care" when I agreed to let Flemeth live in exchange for the book.
... In the end I just wanted to say why I like Anders and Alistair. And that took me so long. -__-"

... I just hope that I didn't get you wrong ._.  I wanted to write
something completely different, at first <_< Stupid Att... ooh,
shiny!

... I don't know why (ha ha.) but I'm sure everyone here believes I'm 14 years old  XD  Meh.

I get what you mean. I personally did think of Alistair as the good guy to begin with, and I was a bit ticked when he left after I spared Loghain. Not because I thought it was whiny, but because of all the things your PC potentially has to go through (case in point: A city elf that puts aside her hatred of Vaughn  to assure more support in the Landsmeet) it struck me as an extreme reaction when he could be helping to stop the Blight he was so adamant about stopping through the game. My main playthrough for import to DA2 had my Dalish Warden save Loghain so she did indeed get yelled at (and gave just as good back). But she was a pragmatist and knew Wardens were needed (no metagaming on that playthrough).

That said, I do like that element as well, because it's a human thing to do. It's just a bit easy to look at your party members and label them from what we usually get. Nice guy, bad girl, old caring mentor figure, pet, serious guy etc. Thankfully most of the party in Origins didn't fall completely into those types (Wynne's utter disdain for blood magic overriding her mentoring role).

I get the feeling that if Awakening had been longer or more character driven than plot driven, we would've seen this dark side to Anders sooner. He clearly had issues with the Chantry and the Circle, it was just overshadowed by the more pressing Warden-centric issues. (I still maintain that when Dalish Warden-Commander finds out what happens she's going to blow a fuse all over Vigil's Keep. Loyalty is the key word here.)

Speaking of party reactions to what you do, whenever you agree with Anders about mages, it always sounded to me like he knew you were possibly just fishing for approval but went along with it anyway. Maybe it's Greg's inflections, but it gives off a Shale-type vibe.

Eh. There's more I could say but I don't want to run too far away with it. I can talk for hours about this stuff when the urge takes me. Image IPB

Hrm... I've only played Awakening with my mage-warden OGB-daddy, so it always felt to me like he was "feeling out" my warden's opinions, fishing for if they were on the same side or not. It helped that every time the templars yelled at him I yelled at them back. He had a few lines that were mage-specific, so I'm not sure how much the dialogue changed from if you weren't a circle-mage.

Every city elf I played killed that guy... And the other Wardens thought something like "Yeah, whatever..." xD
You'd think that people were grateful - or at least a little bit nicer to you. I mean, you are trying to save Ferelden - and even if they don't believe that: If I stood in front of some guys with weapons, armor and whatnot, I wouldn't even dare to pull a wry face. Then again... Who cares if they killed the king and everyone else who didn't like cake |:< wanted to kill them? I'm a normal person. I have no sword so they won't kill me. They stole my cookies want to help people which means that I'm better than these fools - which gives me also the right to insult them.
... What did I write just now? [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/andy.png[/smilie]

I noticed that, too. I always wondered what Anders really thought of my
Warden xD  (At least we can say that he was grateful when we gave him
Ser Pounce-a-lot xD)

*Some spoilers that have been mentioned frequently*

I have a few questions! If anyone knows yet:

1) If you're playing female Hawke, has Anders still had a previous male lover - or is that only if you're playing male Hawke? Not that it really matters - I'm just curious. ;)

2) Can Hawke
ignore that first flirt line that's been floating around, and say,
flirt with him later (w/ more.... considerate... timing) -  or, if you
don't  take that first option, the romance won't be available anymore?
It's a little too forward for my character imo.
3) What do you think Anders leans towards: dominant or passive lover? [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/angel.png[/smilie]

Sorry if these have been mentioned before, I tried really really hard to read all the previous posts, got to page 2..... :P

I agree, it's a rather disturbingly forward flirtation. The whiplash of it is something like "DESPAIR! I AM IN DESPA-Oooh, you're really cute! Image IPB" Little mood-kill, there, Hawke, haha. I was hoping there was a way to avoid flirting at such an... inopportune moment.
On a slightly humorous note, it almost sounded (beginning) stalker-ish, to me.  O~or maybe that's just my own sick mind at work. The humor bit, at the very least, is probably just me.Image IPB
Anyway, with that timing, I half expected Anders' to be creeped out or upset. Says quite a bit that he just kinda took it in his stride.

For #1, I think Anders will mention his male lover with either Hawke, mostly because he's the 'canon' bisexual.
For #2, the inappropriate flirting is awkward as hell, I agree lol. I believe you can avoid it by not choosing it. There are probably more (appropriate) chances of doing so.
Not sure about #3 yet, heh.

Mostly it just struck me as bad timing. I do have a Hawke in mind that will fit that line, though! Just, at least one of my other Hawkes would probably never say that :P To me it just sort of...messes with the mood of the scene and has a rather creepy edge to it. Fitting for a rather creepy and inappropriate Hawke, though, so my snarky rogue will probably end up using it.

#3: I read a little artical thing on how he does with his romance and the main thing is that he just wants to know that you won't go off and flirt with other people.Image IPB You can also start the romance even if he is rival, so romances are pretty flexible in da2 Image IPB
