Probably been thought of already but...

Wouldn't it be appropriate - if our imported save was the Queen/marry Alistair option(the happy ending) we would wind up having our hearts broken in this one. And if we sacrificed our happy ending in the previous game we could have one this time around. Hmm.

::flails hands around:: Noooooooo!  Don't say that!

For one thing, the Queen/Alistair ending isn't 100% happy.  Even if you role-play that your Warden deeply trusted Morrigan, the Dark Ritual would have left a bad taste in everyone's mouths.  Who knows what will come of it?  I know my Queen Cousland loses sleep some nights worrying if she made the right choice, if she really did it for selfless reasons or if she may have doomed everyone in the future just to buy a few years of happiness.

Didn't leave a bad taste in my mouth.

But then, I always play my characters a little ruthless. And 'sides, bad things are gonna come, no matter what you do. Can't win, not really, all you can do is kick ass and enjoy those few years of happiness.

It would be even worse for me, I think, since my Queen Cousland is the Warden I ship with Anders. In Surelyville, Anders and Cousland are holed up in the Vigil being awesome and terrorizing Nathaniel with threats of a sex ambush. If I import her save (which I did just so I'd have a queen import) and that causes Anders moar misery, I would cry so much.

Well, I honestly have no idea how this game's endings are going to turn out. But I'm guessing no happy ending w/ Anders is a strong possibility.

Pure conjecture - what if you had to choose:
Help him defeat the chantry and he dies or gets turned into an abomination, but does so loving you?
Or you do a rivalmance, and ultimately side with the templars, and Anders walks out on you, but lives?

If it came down to that, I would pick the break up, for the simple reason that Angry Anders is teh sexiness.

But... I hope it doesn't end up like that!

So, once everyone starts getting their games and wanting to talk about Anders in all his spoilery glory, I have started a thread over in the Companions forums. Feel free to PM me if there's any DA2 arts or fics you'd like to see featured in the first post.

I subscribed but keep getting "You do not meet the requirements to post in this forum" What is that about?

Oooh here's another possibility that would be interesting.

What if, in order to have your happy ending, you had to "share" Anders with a member of the opposite sex? Haha. That'd be entertaining.

My Amell certainly didn't care.  She always played fast and loose with both magic and sex, so her reaction to Morrigan's offer was more like "Heck yeah, girl!  Let's do this!  Enjoy your baby; I will enjoy being the de facto queen who has Alistair wrapped around her finger"  XD

I think you have to register your DA2 game into the system so that you'd be able to post.

I made Anders a warden in awakenings, but would things have been different if I just let the templars take him? I mean if he lived, he wouldnt have met Justice and Hawke wouldnt be looking crazy wondering "what the hell is wrong with this mage?"

Hmm.. good question. I guess Anders would have had to have met Justice on his own (after Awakening, of course). He would have had to escape from the tower again too, but that's apparently not so hard for him to do!

desperately hope that when we meet Nathaniel in DA2, Hawke's "funny" response will be a terrible Howe pun.

Anders: And this is my old friend, Nathaniel Howe.
Hawke: It's a pleasure to meet you.  I think I've met some of your cousins.
Nate: Oh?
Hawke: Yes, I met some Whys and Whos a few months back.  ::giggles to herself::
Nate: ::looks back and forth from Anders to Hawke::  Maker help us, I guess it's true that there's someone out there for everyone.

I don't have the game yet and I have STEERED CLEAR of spoilzers like a bat out of hell, but I have a strooong inclination from what Hepler hinted at that in order to have a happy ending with Anders, one must go the Rival Romance stage.

I maybe wrong. But considering his whole "I am an abomination and I hate the Chantry and buuuuurrrnnnn" angle, as implied in the short story, happy ending = disagreeing with him completely.

Related to this, I am just pleased in general that I'll be allowed to be all, "shut UP, <party member>" and still be rewarded with delicious content. However, I worry that I'll end up being "inconsistent" even though my actions will make perfect sense to me and the companions are gonna be all "grrrrrrrrl, I don't know what to make of you."

I suspect telling Anders to shut up will be specifically satisfying for the same reasons that doing so to Alistair was. He'll be adorable when you tell him to cut. that. ****. out.

You know, I've seen a lot of people agreeing with Anders' views, that the chantry/templar system is really bad and all mages should be freed. It's definitely the easier moral choice, as freedom for all usually is. But there is that responsibility aspect that makes me think the circle isn't really all that bad. Sure, it needs fixing. But honestly, with the potential for abominations, mass destruction, and demon babies, a little mage control is kinda in order. At least, this is the stance my character will take. Rivalmance all the way!

So annoyed though as a virus wiped my 100 hour DA:O game .. so no transferred save for now.

This. I haven't looked for any spoilers on romance or major plot events but I did get the feeling from a few devs that choosing friendship with some party members isn't necessarily the way to help them out unless you agree with them. I'm just concerned about the rivalry thing. What if he like walks out on us? I don't even know how it's gonna work out. He's gonna dissaprove of everything but I don't want him killing Templars left and right~

Ugh.....I need to play this game now!:pinched:

I have seen some of the spoilers and I have a strong feeling that a rivalmance is the way to go with Anders. Obviously I can't say for sure but I'll be testing it out tomorrow.

I am going to continue with my belief that a happy ending with Anders is possible. Until I see evidence otherwise.

I finished a picture of Anders just now, gonna toss it in here with the description. Can't post in the other thread yet since my game hasn't arrived tho :?

--

"Winter's here
In summer's season
Shall I say
I was wrong
If I'm right
I farewell to my last hope"
Blind Guardian - Bright Eyes

I always found Anders, beneath all the wit and snark, a rather tragic
character. Someone who gets imprisoned without good reason and feels he
is missing out on his life because of it.
He struggles against
his lot in life, because his destiny is out there waiting for him to
catch up. And the longer he is held back the sadder and more bitter he
becomes.
