I suspect this is the truth of it, and it makes me facepalm a bit. Because you know that if he's getting roughed up by a Templar after being caught that he couldn't help but be a bit mouthy, and would just get himself into worse trouble.

Haha great news I wanted the return of Anders and Justice from Awakening and you get them both in one. He'll be a great deep character for sure

When you first meet him if you choose the dialogue "That's inhuman!" regarding the dead Templars and his flippant attitude towards them he gives quite a bitter reply. I can definitely believe that he's using humour to cover how much he hates them. I also think he's probably a little bit giddy with relief at the reprieve your warden gives him (if you accept him into the wardens, that is).

Hmm, I don't understand. Why would him need to hide he hates templars and chantry? Tell me one reason.

It may just be how he is. Some people use humour as a way of dealing with negative events or emotions, as opposed to brooding or acting depressed. It's not a 'need' as such, just one way of coping.

Yeah. Zevran did a similar thing in DAO, hiding a lot of his past trauma under jokes and a cheery attitude and hitting on anything that moves. I always thought it was interesting to watch him reveal the more vulnerable side when I romanced him. So I'm interested in seeing how they pull things off with Anders.

The original lore had tranquils being branded on the forehead with lyrium.  Makes me think the man standing behind him in the screenshot where his eyes are glowing is the friend.

Oh, well that's better. I did wonder what was going on with that guy's head.

Not to say it still couldn't be an old lover if the rumors of him being the M/M option end up being true, but that would make it far less likely to get that dreaded dialogue.

@Lleyta Black: I'd like to think they wouldn't be so redundant as to reuse Wild Flower's story so closely. And it doesn't sound like Justice has split, he's just changed. You might be able to decide whether you want to redeem him or leave him as is though.

@Miri1984: On the upside, if humor is his preferred method of deflection then we should still get snarkiness in spite of his dire situation. <3

@Moilami Not out of need. He doesn't exactly hide it. But he certainly doesn't want to go into details about it either. He says on several occasions "Never mind me, I'm just glad to be out" - especially if you press him "You really don't like the Chantry do you?" "Not too fond of them?" and all you get are vague answers, never specifics.

He does tell you he was in solitary for a year, but he doesn't tell you much else. His dialogues with Nate are COMPLETE shutdowns - Nate asks him how did the Templars find him and he deflects all the questions with humour.

My suspicion is that they've done a lot of nasty things to him and he'd much rather forget about it than talk about it with the warden.

Oh well, will have to start playing Awakening right now to get more insight. Anders is by far the most interesting companion in DA2.

I was playing Awakening earlier, and I heard Justice mention something about spirits from the Fade turning into demons because they've been perverted by their own desires during some party banter. At some point I also triggered a conversation with Justice, and he mentioned being envious of Kristoff & Aura's love. Later, after taking to Aura, Justice seemed to be kind of hellbent on avenging Kristoff's death.

Now I wonder if Justice started down the road to becoming Vengeance even before joining with Anders - heh - even though he was clearly worried about becoming an abomination if he were to hypothetically join with a living host. In any case, I'm sure that joining with Anders didn't help matters any when you consider his massive hate/anger towards the templars/Chantry/Circle. Blargh, I just want to play the game already so that we can find out exactly what went down and why he changed. Speculating is fun though!

IMO it's more like they're the two friends who think they get along well and make the move to become roommates and then realize they hate each other, but they both signed a lease. Anders is a slob and Justice is the one leaving passive-aggressive notes on the fridge and being all OCD about how the dishes are supposed to be put up.

Anders: They're in the cabinet, what more do you want?
Justice: I have a system! It's there for a reason!!

LOL, this is exactly what popped into my head as soon as I heard about the whole Justice-possessing-Anders thing.  I know this is SERIOUS BUSINESS, but I have a complete inability to take anything seriously.  Unfortunately this means that while everyone else is having deep conversations about the nature of this possession, I have the theme song from "The Odd Couple" playing in my head.

I NEED some kind of art or crackfic about Justice and Anders: Roommates

Anders,
Soooo I noticed there are some dishes in the sink and I remember we had a discussion recently about trying to put them in the dishwasher from now on instead of leaving them there for weeks and weeks. I'm not trying to be rude or anything, just thought maybe you forgot.

So maybe you could put the dishes in the dishwasher next time. Just sayin'

You know, I wonder if perhaps it's Anders who's the OCD one and Justice is too "focused on his mission" to care about who's turn it is to wash the dishes.

Anders: Justice, I've TOLD you when you take over my body YOU HAVE TO BRUSH MY HAIR.

Justice: Dealing with knots and tangles takes time away from righteous fury, Anders!

All I can see with Anders and Justice/Vengeance is the two of them going back and forth with each other Joker and EDI style. Except in this case it would appear that Anders is arguing with himself.

Anders was one of my favorite companions in DA:A with his sharp remarks and of course Ser Pounce-a-lot! I think Bioware did a great job with this twist. That being said the mages of Dragon Age are under constant watch and treated as second class citizens. So if it comes down to it mages all the way.

Lol I think Anders would default it is Justice's turn to do dishes xD

Edit: Actually it could be very handy to be possessed by a spirit. It could take care of all kind of boring routine things.

lol!!

I just used the OCD roommate as a metaphor for the person in the relationship that takes things way too seriously and doesn't know how to lighten up. Anders doesn't strike me as a particularly slobbish guy, but in this analogy he's totally the roommate that keeps things messy in the common room, then gets mad when Justice straightens up because he feels like Justice is "stifling" him by not letting him be free to leave his pizza boxes wherever he feels like.

It's getting harder to wait for the game to be out! I loved the characters in DA:A, with Anders being one of my favourites! I'm really interested to see how this twist plays out....

And if my knowledge is correct, she also wrote Orzammar, Branka and Hespith, which in my opinion was definitely the most gritty/darker part of the game for me.

Greeeeeeat, she wrote for most no-win area of the game (you either pick the murdering, disloyal dictator or the nice guy who does a terrible job), and the couple that ended in betrayal, despair and evil. I don't know a lot about the writers behind the games, please tell me Ms. Hepler has done something other than a downer ending.

For those who were curious, I wrote the Dwarf Commoner, Orzammar and the Deep Roads, and some early bits of the Landsmeet for Origins. And Bethany. And some guy they haven't announced yet. And a lot of mage plots. Howdy.

She also wrote Sebastian Vael, and her bio states, "I wrote 90% of the dwarves in Dragon Age. I am now writing the Smuggler for Star Wars: The Old Republic."

She is doing very good job. I am surprised to find she is allowed to do that. Also I am very curious to see what she does with Anders. She at least have credentials to make something not so ordinary Hollywood with clear "good/bad" choise.
