I'm going to be so upset if he isn't.... why would they be so cruel as to give us Varric as a LI though?  Hawke is stuck as a human, and I don't know about others, but my f!Hawke doesn't have much of an interest in dwarfs.  Plus, a dwarf and a guy who hates being touched?  That's just beyond cruel.  Not like I'm complaining about Fen though!

Yeah I guess I"m just looking on the bleak side to avoid disappointment lol. But it does sound from that like it's a definite possibility that he's too caught up in his own problems to be a LI. But I do hope I'm wrong.

So do I.  If I'm stuck with just the dwarf ... not gonna be a hater or anything but.   Can't wrap my head around being attracted to him at all.

It must be so much fun for the writers reading threads like this, knowing all the answers and watching people speculate lol, some getting it so wrong and others second guessing them before stuff is even released.

But mostly knowing people care enough to discuss their game and their characters with such excitement.

By that logic, the world is going to shake, regardless as to who is picked for male LIs. ;D

The fact that he's the only human male in the party makes me 99.9% sure he'll be an LI. If you look at any BioWare game theres usually a male and female human LI.

Teehee - indeed. But the Anders fans will have been denied TWICE! Not to mention we have a little bit more of an idea of what we're getting into. We haven't even heard Fenris' voice yet!

I've probably already set myself up for disappointment about his status as an LI, but he's still gonna be in my party no matter what. It's Anders and... he's the healer!  I am his fan no matter what!  <3

The other thing that bugs me about that video...the ppl look the same. The thing, and only thing, that ever bothered me about DA was what the kids looked like and some of the hair on some of the characters. Seems that part didn't change. But other then that, I'm so excited!

I usually just use the formula:

Izzy - Bi female LI.

Merrill - Male exclusive.

Fenris - Bi male LI.

Anders - Female exclusive.

I.... do want Varric too for interesting narrative story, but somehow I do doubt it. Just my assumptions, anywho.

This is true.   If it was my sworn duty to rank fan-rage, I think I'd set it up this way:

Anders fans: "NO ANDERS?  BWAAAAAAAAADSKFJSL:DFK!" *sun explodes*
Fenris fans: "HOW COULD BIOWARE DO THIS TO ME!  DAMN THE ELF HATERS!"
Varric fans: "But.. why not?"
Sebastian fans: "Predicted this, but still."

Yeah, I was really hoping for Varric before Anders came along - but I didn't think it was going to happen. And isn't Varric going to be in DA3?

With the people saying Anders might not be an LI because of that statement that the writer made... I was thinking. On the other hand, couldn't it be a reference to him being an LI instead? I mean, Hawke and Anders start a romance. Time passes and whatever issue that's bugging Anders gets bigger, so he starts focusing more on that and less on Hawke. Which could create problems in their relationship. Considering the game has a long time span, I'm sure there's bound to be some kind of arguments/issues in the romances. Maybe.

Or maybe I'm just looking on the bright side of things because I would like Anders as an LI

I'm thinking they kept Anders as a companion a secret for this long because they new the fan girlies would love the news. So I'm perrrrty sure he's going to be an LI. Or maybe, just maybe almost all of the companions will be LI's. Accept the sibblings that is.

I would fully support this, but he seems pretty hetero in Awakening.  He makes LOTS of comments about wanting a "pretty girl" and "retiring with a wife and lots of nubile mistresses."  That doesn't mean he couldn't have an interest in men, but he seemed to openly prefer the ladies.

I think it's more likely that Fenris will be the bi option, but I certainly don't begrudge ManHawke some Anders lovin'.

This.  The devs have referred to how different it is to write a romance that takes place over 10 years instead of the usual few months/year or so timeline.  This makes me think MORE that Fenric and Anders are definite LIs, because they both have some complicated issues that will take some time to resolve and thus can fully make use of the 10-year time span, which I think the writers will really want to utilize.

Yeah, I will be a teeny bit annoyed with bioware for going the gay-elf route again, but you never know, maybe Seb is an additional BI romance! That would be super special.

Yeah.  If he is a LI at all, he would have to be bi.  Otherwise girls would get 4 and now that's not fair for the male players!

But I agree with the set-up listed somewhere earlier... Fenris/Isabella bi, Anders/Merrill straight.  That would leave out Varric/Aveline as not LIs, and of course no incest with the siblings, ew.

Yeah I remember him saying that. I was just thinking it could be a possibility because Helper has written something similar. I won't be dissapointed if he isn't, there's always bromance.

YES, confirmation of snark! You don't know how relieved you just made me, Ms. Hepler. Like everyone else that last sentence is gnawing at me, but personally I think that would just make a romance all the juicier. <3

So I'm guessing as time goes by, poor Anders will be going further over the edge... I'm hoping not irreversibly so. Aside from my worries about his future, I'm reeeally warming to the possession story. The way his eyes flashed to warn him Hawke and crew were there? WICKED COOL. I'm so very interested to see more.
