@Threeparts: I don't know, but I still like to think that a blond guy named Anders suggests that Thedas has a Scandinavia analog tucked away somewhere.

(I once ran a search through my family tree to see how many people were in there either named Anders or some variant of Anderson / Andersson / etc. I think it hit triple digits.)

 OK! Merrill's been officially announced. Aveline ISN'T a romance option for anyone, so we now know that the two FEMALE romance options are Isabela and Merrill.

THEREFORE, I submit that Bioware needs to tell us who the male romance options are. Because otherwise it's not fair

Now you are suggesting that gender of the romanceable companions matters. Isn't that sexist ? They have revealed, it seems, 1/2 of the romanceable companions. Isn't that rather fair enough


Edit: And to be honest you should not be able to romance Anders. Anders would romance you xD

It's not sexist at all. Some people are straight, some people are gay. By only announcing the female LIs they are cutting out a significantly large portion of their gaming customers (people who intend to play straight fems or gay men).

I agree with Miri, wholeheartedly. Why announce the female LIs and not the male? I am honestly mystified as to why. It doesn't take any particular effort like making a character video would.

On the other hand, I do really like Anders... and Varric, and Fenris. It's hard to choose. But I wanted Anders since Awakening.

But if we knew for sure that one of the three wasn't romanceable, they'd get an influx of tears from that character's fans. More fuel for the Bioware coffeemaker! How can they resist?

Technically Merrill hasn't OFFICIALLY been confirmed yet, even if it says it on the Wiki... I mean, deductive reasoning basically confirms it (the video talking about romances while showing Merrill on-screen, confirmation that Aveline is NOT, etc.), but no devs have yet.

Still, though, with Isabela confirmed they should at least tell us ONE of the male LIs.

If it is fan popularity, then there's more chance of him being an LI... just look at ME with Garrus and Tali. I'm sure the same thing will happen with Anders, I'm sure of it! *crosses fingers and prays*

After they announced that Aveline wasn't a romance, I suppose it just sort of . . . left Merrill, right?

So can they, instead of announcing the male romances, just announce the one that . . . ISN'T a romance?

I assume that asking for this would probably prompt the responce of, "How do you know that they're not ALL romances?"
