Given how vastly popular Alistair was, I hope they decide to keep giving us a human male LI.  I think that Fenris is a shoe-in, so it's down to Varric or Anders.  I feel like it HAS to be Anders.  If they're trying to appeal to the largest amount of people, including at least one human LI seems like the best option, especially after their data about who actually played dwarves in Origins.  Yes, dwarves in general and Varric in particular have a large and vocal fanbase here on the forums, but according to these statistics the devs keep mentioning?  A Varric romance would almost certainly be the least played.

I would Bioware major props for including a dwarf romance.  I think it'd be really cool to see, but I also think it would mostly be something to appeal to hardcore fans, not a wider audience.  And at the expense of a human LI?  Eh, I don't think it would be marketable.

Sometimes it sucks being the one rooting for the "boring old vanilla human love interest", but I will very irritated if male Hawkes can romance a human and female Hawkes can't.  (EDIT: Okay, so FemHawkes can probably romance Isabela too, so a straight human LI!)

I'm very neutral on my opinion on Fenris, but if he isn't an LI I would be utterly shocked. He looks and sounds like he was specifically brewed for that purpose.

I can see his demon possession going both ways to reinforce either argument of he will and he won't. He never struck me as someone who got into actual relationships either, beyond just simply sex. (Has not played Awakenings either, so I don't know all his comments/conversations.)

@Threeparts EXACTLY. And the fact that your fem!Hawke won't get her heart broken in some tragic plot twist a la Alistair in Origins is also a plus!

I'm about 98% certain that Anders will be a love interest.

I've been thinking about it and I'm about 53% sure that Varric will be the bi LI, actually. Mainly because they've already done the whole bi elf thing but also because while Fenris' past does give him that tormented flavor fangirls love, it is also the biggest reason why he wouldn't be a LI.

After a decade around Hawke, I'd like to think he could warm up to the idea. They're going to go through a lot together. But I do think if Anders is an LI it would start out casually, like with Isabela and Zevran.

I hope they do make an announcement on V-day, if only to stop the speculation and little nasty jabs people are giving. I just thought of a funny scenario (tell me if you guys know what I am reffering to with this story-something dealing with what Anders said in Awakening.) (oh, and mind my writing skills for I have none.)



During an amazing and loving night inside Marian Hawke's bedroom...Anders and Marian are cuddling...

Anders: That was incredible. Grape?
Marian: Certainly.
Anders takes a single grape and teases Marian with it.
Marian: Your such a tease.
Anders plops the grape in his mouth and heads for Marian's lips.
Marian: But so am I.
Marian gets up from the bed.
Anders: Where are you going my love? 
He said while chewing on the grape.
Marian: Don't worry, I'll be back. I'm just going to get more grapes.
Anders smiled and relaxed on the bed.
Anders: Don't keep me waiting too long.
As soon as Marian opened her bedroom door, a fool came running and knocked her down.
Fool: ssshwww isss thiiss whhere myy hoommeee is I -giberish- for that -more gibberish.
Marian dusted herself off and stood up and shook her head.
Marian: Carver forgot to lock the door again... Some drunk fool has wandered into my home.
Anders laughed softly.
Anders: I can take care of him, no problem.
With just one flick of the finger, Anders shot a small lightning bolt at the man.
The man collapsed to the ground.
Marian: Anders!
Anders: He's fine, he's fine. I'll take care of him.
Anders got up from the bed and picked the man up.
Marian: Put him somewhere safe. It's not safe out here in Kirkwall at night.
 Anders headed toward the door, but paused and turned around.
Anders: You know what?
Marian: What?
Anders: This is what I've always wanted...This has been the perfect night. Aside from the fact that I have to carry this drunken fool somewhere safe.
Anders gave Marian one last kiss before he carried the man out of the house.

Anyone know what I'm reffering to with this story? I kinda forgot about the whole Justice thing when I wrote it. But I hoped you guys liked it

I hope not. They already did that with Oghren (if you believe the Sigrun dialogue) and as you said at least one Zevran convo. Zevran himself for all his talk rarely acted on anything, he was very passive as far as the relationship went, at least IMO. I would be disappointed if this became a 'thing', where the guy acts like a major stud but it's just teasing. There are plenty of flirty female characters and I can't at the moment remember one that goes, "Oh my! I didn't mean... That is..."

Since his confidence is one of his big draws at least for me, I want to believe Anders has the confidence to go through with his comments and isn't just talking to hear his own voice (not that I mind his voice,  ).

OMG HI!!! 

This thread is the reason I decided to stop lurking.  I'm sooooo excited that Anders is coming back, even if he will be different, what with this whole demon nonsense.    I loved loved loved him in Awakening, and lamented the fact that I couldn't romance him.  So I really hope that we'll be able to this time around.  But either way, it'll still be nice to have his pretty face around.

The confidence is one of the big draws for me, too, so I have to agree with you on that. Although I'm thinking (hoping, rather) that he does go through with his comments because Zevran's main form of interacting with just about everyone in your party appears to be by flirting with them. Anders, not so much.
