If you kill Anders right at the beginning long before meeting Justice how can he possess him?..

I am sure almost nobody did that, at LEAST on the first playthrough. Why? Cause if you are not a mage, you are stuck with Velanna, and until you get her, no mage.

Did they use the Potara ear rings or the Fusion dance hmmmmmm. I am excited to roll with Anders and "Justice" again. Fusion voice?

So we get two returning Awakening characters rolled into one? Nice. Seems like a very interesting situation. It does at least explain what happens to Justice when he ditches Kristoff's body. This just makes the wait for March even harder. Can't wait to jump into DA2.

I wonder how this works if Anders never met Justice in an imported version of Awakening...obviously they will still have to meet, but I wonder how.

Also, it is strange that Merrill hasn't been officially confirmed yet :(

Noooo, not Vengeance!

I don't want Anders to be like Velanna, screaming "Vengeance!!!" every time I enter combat...

Perhaps you're right, but that's not an explanation. I have a playthrough in which  that happened, I'm wondering what will be said when I import that. To be honest though, it probably won't bother me THAT much if that possibility is just ignored, but still.

This new Anders leaves me a puzzled:

The major trait of Anders in DAA was his urge to be free. And that very same person should be willing to give away control over his body and mind to a spirit??? This is perhaps the most extreme loss of freedom imaginable!

That's not the only trait you could see in Anders, though.  He was also very compassionate, and might see allowing Justice to inhabit him as a compassionate act (say, if the alternative would be Justice wandering alone) and one that would allow him to be more powerful.  We hear that he's healing refugees, so maybe the experience of seeing so much death in the Wardens changed him.  Plus sometimes playboy types do a 180 and decide they want a greater purpose.

At least wait and see what the writers have done with it.  I'm now more impressed with the writing in Awakening that I can see the sneaky little threads they were working in.  Sneaky, sneaky.

Reading that official bio made his traveling conversations with Justice a cool bit of foreshadowing. I actually found myself impressed with such a development. Guess we now know where Justice went after Kristoff. But does Anders consider Justice a spirit still or have his opinions changed since then?

And does Justice want him to shut up still?

Interesting. I'm kind off sad about Justice becoming Vengeance, just like I was sad when Aribeth fell and betrayed Neverwinter to become a Blackguard. I HATE it when good characters turn evil-another one that comes to mind is in the War of the Spider Queen series when Hallistra abandoned her redemption and destroys Eilistraelee's Crescent Blade. *tear*

That being said, it's a great plot hook.

This
confuses me a little, too. I initially thought that he only became
active about going against the Chantry under the influence of Justice
inside him. It's hard to tell if they're saying his own need for
vengeance corrupted Justice, or if the blending of their personalities
is what caused the corruption or... I'm just confusing myself more. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/whistling.png[/smilie]

Perhaps
Anders only becomes interested in vengeance (thereby corrupting
Justice) AFTER this incident we witness with his tranquiled friend...

I understood Anders to have a lot of hatred, and not of the half-joking variety, buried under a cool demeanor. Why wouldn't he? His life kind of sucked. It seems that Justice is the catalyst that brings  out his darker side so that we may explore it in DA2, in a way  that we were never able to in Awakening. Or at least that's how I'm interpretting things. I could be wrong.

I get the impression once a Magazine like Gameinformer or an official online gaming media announces it to the masses, the Devs will jump on it like they did Anders.

He could easily have escaped the templars and been hiding out in Amaranthine, or come back through there trying to take a ship, and come into contact with Justice/ Kristoff.

Who says Vengenance is evil? It is a slightly darker form of justice, but not necessarily evil. And even if justice is evil doesnt mean Anders is, they are only co-habitating the body.

Anders healing refugee's a darker side of him? And his official profile talks about it being more deep than him having a dark side. He struggles to maintain control over Vengeance. And I think that made him see in some small way, his own dark side. And when you see your own evil, many times you change for the best.

This whole spirit turning into demon thing reminds me of Flemeth somehow, or at least her story...

I was not looking forward to Anders returning..... until i saw the official reveal!!! It is a very good twist to his character.

An interesting thought, for those of you who played Jade Empire, Deaths Hand seems very relevant. you could free (redeem) him or you could completely turn him to the dark side and get Deaths Hand to help you.

I can foresee Bioware doing something similar with Anders, you either redeem Justice (and maybe he leaves, meaning Anders has sole control over his body) or you 'enforce' the vengeance side and vengeance takes over completely and Anders loses control. (similar to others possessed by a demon, Uldred and the other abominations). That would be a very cool choice or companion quest type of thing. There might also be a third choice, that Anders releases control, but Justice is redeemed and thus you get Justice as a companion.

So we might get up to 3 different 'Anders' - Anders redeemed, Justice redeemed, or Vengeance!!!!

Personally I wana see vengeance.

Darker side does not equal evil side. You can still, say, give back to the community but harbor dark thoughts you are trying to keep buried. So, yes, I totally agree with you. I am of the opinion that Vengences' transformation from Justice is a reflection of an internal change in Anders. We shall see.
