At this point, with how CRAZY and UNSTABLE both Fenris and Anders are, I am two steps away from turning around and joining the Varric camp, the one guy who isn't capable of putting his FIST through someone's CHEST CAVITY or become possessed by a spirit from the other realm.

.... Who am I kidding. I'll boink 'em all.

rofl. I actually wanted Anders in the group back when we were speculating because I thought he'd be the angst-free LI. So wrong, so very wrong...

Does anyone even know how old Anders is anyways?

I don't think we have an exact number, but they did make him look a lot younger in this one.

I just have to say, it would really suck if we spent ten years getting this demon out of him and the very next day he starts getting his taint calling dreams. <_<

@SgtElias: Well obviously he's an LI because he's one of the first people you pick up! Who were the first people you picked up in DA:O? Alistair and Morrigan. Boom! LI! Infallible enough for you? :D

@HolyJellyfish You're right, of course. There is far more potential to make us cry if they make Anders the love interest rather than Varric. And they don't miss an opportunity like THAT.

Much as I would love to cuddle all that manliness to my chest, I shall kiss the idea of Varric goodbye because, really, who am I kidding? I'd much rather Anders.

That is true. I don't think it was confirmed anywhere that he "left" the Grey Wardens officially. Even if he did leave, I would imagine he had a big reason. I mean I don't think he would abandon his duties and the warden like that, unless I am judging his character wrong.

My Amell is gonna be PISSED at him regardless. :P

None of my Wardens will be.  For one thing, they all went about their own business after Awakening and certainly don't begrudge Anders finding something to do besides hang out in Vigil's Keep.  Eithne and Mariette returned to Denerim (one to be a good-hearted queen, the other to be the slightly devious power behind the throne), and Rona went to deal with Amgarrak and then find Zevran.  (My other 2 Wardens never met Anders... no Warden-Commander position for them).  Rona will most likely never hear about the theft and abandonment and wouldn't care if she did.

Eithne and Mariette will wonder what he's planning but that's all.  They may put out some feelers to try and find out what he's up to, just in case its anything big, but other than that, live and let live.

Nope! I'm guessing about 28 to 32, personally. He's not got the full cheeks I associate with someone younger, like Alistair had, he's obviously capable of growing a proper beard should he choose. Old enough to be experienced with women, but not old enough to be thinking about settling down just yet.

Alim's going to be mad he's lost his best healer. Also mad Anders stole from him. But this all depends on if Anders left the warden before or AFTER Alim buggered off to Antiva to look for his feckless lover.

Otherwise, in my head, Nate is the new Warden Commander of Ferelden. And Nate is in a permanent state of Angry At Anders, so I guess Anders just figured he'd live with it :)

That's when he was the naive Justice, of course he'll find it abhorrent then. But as vengeance, he could like it.
Of course that depends on whether you believe that the "real" Justice is prior "corruption" and that vengeance is nothing but a twisted version of his former self.

I have been wondering fairly frequently exactly what sort of transformation Justice has undergone. Because (in my mind, anyway) there's a big different between, say, really hating the Chantry and wanting to raze it to the ground but being (mostly) regular Justice with other topics, and just literally not caring about anything anymore besides hurting people he perceives as injust.

Or it could be something inbetween. Or progress, as I think you suggested, throughout the course of the game.

This is one of the things I'm most excited to find out. If it's possbile, I'd really like to redeem Justice. He was so great originally; it'd be sad if everything he was disappeared into fury and pain.

I really don't think they will leave the Varric fans high and dry. If anything, it maybe a Samara-type romance with a 'It could be but it can't' subtext.

Why yes! Thank you, kind Ser!

Now I can continue to play Awakening in peace. :)

@HolyJellyfish You know, they might not have a choice? The writing was probably mostly done by the time they revealed Varric - even though they did reveal him very early. They had no way of predicting the fan reaction to him. I mean, they may well have thought giving him chest hair would turn fangirls OFF.

(little did they know!!)

Also, as has been said elsewhere, the bioware forums are not a good sample size of the market that plays DA. Which in some cases is great, but in others, not so good.

Oh, and Aris and SgtElias, sorry to burst your bubbles, but the first companion you get in Kirkwall is Varric.

My version of a "happy ending" in this scenario is to not return Justice to his former naive self (as awesome as he was, it was like talking to a child. Understandable, he was discovering a world he knew nothing about). But to avoid him going into excess (which might be what is happening here). Somewhere in between. Um..."Order" let's call him. :D

But, I would like it if Bioware would show me that spirits / demons are not like humans and there can't be any middle ground, it's either one or the other. It wouldn't feel forced, like say it would on humans / material sentient beings.

And of course there is Anders in the equation. Spirits and demons can be convinced (even intimidated) to abandon their host. We'll see I guess. Can't wait.

A whole lot of things about him turn me off, and I'm dearly hoping I'm not going to get outvoted on this point.  *wry grin*

LOL!  Exactly!

Yes, I always imagine that Nate ends up being the Warden Commander.  I mean, none of the Warden's epilogues involved staying at the Keep, did they?  They all said something along the lines of "Blight truly ended... no longer needed... wandered off... blah blah".  In my head, all of my Wardens officially relinquished the position to Nate very shortly after Awakening... no more than a year, certainly.

I don't imagine Anders was ever considered for it.  He'd have some influence among the Wardens in Ferelden just from being one of the "founding members" during Awakening, but I don't think anyone was considering him for a leadership role.  :P

If Nate IS the Warden Commander (or second-in-command or somewhere up the chain, since Bioware may not want to rule out people role-playing that their Wardens stayed there), then his cameo may be VERY interesting.  Do you think maybe he'll be sent after Anders to get the map back?

Ser Pounce makes the brave sacrifice for his best friend and becomes Vengeance's new host. This does not bode well for your mabari.

Oh, I totally agree. I'd rather have a "new and improved Order 2.0" instead of Justice or Vengeance, but at this point I'm just hoping he can be saved at all.

Also, so as not to take Anders out of the equation in his own thread, I bet it'd be nice not to feel his hands twitch with the desire to light someone on fire everytime he met someone even remotely associated with the Chantry. ^_^

Pff, Ser Pounce's will power is so strong, that  it would possess Vengeance and through him, take over the Fade. Where do you think it got the power of ressurection in the first place?

@Aris, thank you, I needed that laugh :).

And leggywillow, we were speculating that this might be the case and a reason for a Nate cameo in DA2. Of course, it would have to be dependent on imports. I made Sigrun warden Commander in one of my universes, before I really got a look at her character. It would be hilarious if whoever was left alive at your keep is the one who turns up to hassle Anders about the map.

I can't really see anyone letting Velanna be warden commander :)

@SgtElias Let me reassure you then. We know Carver isn't, we know Aveline isn't. Aveline is the first female non-family member you get as a companion. So they're not going by that rule this time around. At least, not hard and fast :)

She'll come around eventually. Ten years might not be long enough, but eleven definitely will.

First female you meet in the actual game (not as Hawke) is Cassandra!
First male is Varric.
... or Templar 232 or Templar 6432.

I don't think he reached that stage yet.

But this is very revealing of Ander's character really. He, at least indirectly, was the one responsable for Justice's transformation (granted, it hit Justice's nature as well). In Awakening, I actually thought that Anders did not hate the Chantry that much. He is not pro-Libertarian and he thinks what they are doing is insane / dangerous.

So I was kind of fooled by his exterior it seems. He does a pretty good job at controlling his emotions. Good for him. Well until Justice came along. But even here, he seems to be struggling to control him. Rather impressive, Uldred seemingly didn't manage (though it was a pride demon and in a moment of deesperation, so maybe kind of difference) .
