ThisFinally, Anders dislike/hate seemed directed at the templars not the
circle. It's the templar that are hunting him, not the circle. Why the
shift?
confuses me a little, too. I initially thought that he only became
active about going against the Chantry under the influence of Justice
inside him. It's hard to tell if they're saying his own need for
vengeance corrupted Justice, or if the blending of their personalities
is what caused the corruption or... I'm just confusing myself more. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/whistling.png[/smilie]
Perhaps
Anders only becomes interested in vengeance (thereby corrupting
Justice) AFTER this incident we witness with his tranquiled friend...
I understood Anders to have a lot of hatred, and not of the half-joking variety, buried under a cool demeanor. Why wouldn't he? His life kind of sucked. It seems that Justice is the catalyst that brings out his darker side so that we may explore it in DA2, in a way that we were never able to in Awakening. Or at least that's how I'm interpretting things. I could be wrong.
Anders healing refugee's a darker side of him? And his official profile talks about it being more deep than him having a dark side. He struggles to maintain control over Vengeance. And I think that made him see in some small way, his own dark side. And when you see your own evil, many times you change for the best.
Darker side does not equal evil side. You can still, say, give back to the community but harbor dark thoughts you are trying to keep buried. So, yes, I totally agree with you. I am of the opinion that Vengences' transformation from Justice is a reflection of an internal change in Anders. We shall see.

Crying about what?
Because something is going to happen to one or both of them. Either good or bad, I'm still going to end up blubbering like I'm 5. I really can't wait!

Meet Anders. Some of you may remember Anders from Dragon Age: Origins Awakening, but this mage has changed. Now bonded with the Spirit of Justice, his anger at the Circle of Magi has corrupted Justice into the Spirit of Vengeance. Everyday is now a struggle to contain the spirit within, and everyday it becomes harder to control.
This is not the Anders you remember.
I love him anyways.

Same, I will like to save both if possible. I am on the mages side though.

The Awakening epilogues with Justice are problematic though, the perfectionist in me demands an explanation.

Or...that could be completely wrong and Justice turned to Vengeance shortly after joining Anders.

Though, in all honesty, I mostly hated Ander's voice actor. Not because the voice actor was bad; he was fine. But, I hate that type of voice. It grates at a level somewhere deep in my torso, near the kidney I think. Every time he opened his mouth I wanted to shove a claymore down it to make that horrible sound stop. I had the same issue with Alistar though. I suspect the voices are designed to be pleasing to women or something as they're both effeminate and degrading to the word that is MAN. ;p
It's the type of voice I associate with words like "prissy". No man should ever have the word "prissy" associated with him, btw.
Still, hats off to you girly boy for getting your own appreciation thread!

Who says Vengenance is evil? It is a slightly darker form of justice, but not necessarily evil. And even if justice is evil doesnt mean Anders is, they are only co-habitating the body.andar91 wrote...
Interesting. I'm kind off sad about Justice becoming Vengeance, just like I was sad when Aribeth fell and betrayed Neverwinter to become a Blackguard. I HATE it when good characters turn evil-another one that comes to mind is in the War of the Spider Queen series when Hallistra abandoned her redemption and destroys Eilistraelee's Crescent Blade. *tear*
That being said, it's a great plot hook.

I suppose. If Justice just pops out and its like a split personality I'll be less upset. What I don't want is Anders to turn into a completely different person. Differences due to story and personality evolution are fine, but still.

I'm inclined to think Justice becoming Vengeance happens when Anders finds that his friend has been made Tranquil. And from what we're heard, that doesn't appear to happen until a few years into him being your companion. So we might get Anders as is, with a perfectly nice co-habitating Justice, and then BAM! Anders flips, Justice flips as have something new to deal with.
I think you are onto something here.

I am guessing it will be a struggle tween Anders and Vengeance.

I hated Anders, and his turning into some emo avatar of vengeance will likely do little to change my opinion of him. How did this looser end up being the one character our of a great cast of characters (well, mostly Origins; Awakening was just mediocre) that ends up being a companion again.

Considering my voice is a slightly-deeper version of Alistair's, I take offence at your provocations!
Slightly.

Reports are coming in of a masked vigilante, beating Templars within an inch of their lives! Commissioner Meredith is baffled and enraged. Her only the lead? The cat-like symbol that flashes the sky every time a mage is in danger....

I wonder what I kind of talk Anders/Justice will have with Sebastians regarding his quest for revenge?
I just hope they aren't too one-note about it (though I'm not really worried about this; the writers always do a great job).
Anders/Justice: VEEEENNGGEEEAANNCEE!
Sebastian: REEEVEENNGEEE!
Hawke: ::rubs temples in exasperation:: Come on now, guys, I only burned dinner a bit.
Anders/Seb: Dinner will be AVENGED!

Like I said, I could be wrong, but this seems like a bigger twist for Hawke than Anders starting out possessed by a demonic spirit of veneagce.
