Well, you know, as adorable as they are (I have two), they also do things like, say, chew through all the cords in your entire house.
Not that mine have done that, or anything. <_<

Speaking as a person who has never played Awakening and who knows nothing of Anders besides the fact that he didn't do it, I am rather excited about him because he's a male healer. How often does that happen in an RPG? One thing though: In the video where he is healing the "Boy", he never looks at Hawke, makes me wonder if he is blind or just drunk?

I never got that impression. Going to have to rewatch it. Just seemed to me like he was really tired and strained- both from the healing and with the constant battle for control with Vengeance. I guess drunk is a possibility, though. Good point with the male healer bit, too. You're right, it almost never happens!

He was concentrating very, very hard. He was probably purposely tuning out anyone who was walking around him. Don't want to make a mistake when a child's life is on the line.Seventh H3ll wrote...

I agree, it's nice to have a male healer. Not all healers have to fit into the 'passive, comforting and feminine' stereotype. Er, no offense, Wynne.
EDIT: Ah, I misunderstood. I didn't notice he wasn't looking directly at Hawke. I hope it's just a model goof and not because he went blind.

Or so knackered that he doesn't notice an entire group of people approaching.
I think there was some speculation about him possibly being blind a few pages back, actually. Hm. Makes me wonder.

LOL, I hope he's not drunk! I got the impression he was concentrating very hard, not sloshed.
EDIT: Maybe the video cuts right at a very telling scene...
Anders: I have made this place a sanctum of healing and salvation! Why do you threaten it? ::hic:: All eight of you.
Hawke:
Anders: ::hic:: Yeah, look at you all... bringing all yer twins along to confuse me... ::HIC::
Hawke: No, no...
Anders: Yep, you can't fool me, heh heh. Tricky, tricky... wha-hey! ::falls over::
Varric: I'll have what he's having.

Don't want to interupt the silliness - which is quite funny to follow, I must say - but I have some quick questions.
These were being discussed in another thread, but DG closed it without answering. And we all know how wonderful the search feature is on this forum.
So, could I get the answer to 2 quick questions regarding Anders please?
1. Do we know - or have a good guess - as to whether there will be an explanation for the Anders epilogues that don't match with him being in Kirkwall? ie, him dead, him staying with the Wardens forever, etc.
2. Do we know if he is a permanent companion, or a temporary one (a la Mhairi)?
Thanks.

God, that mental image is fantastic. All eight of you. xD
I almost wish your companions could show up drunk in the middle of the night. Except then I'd have some strong Oghren flashbacks, but hey! Still amusing.

There's been gameplay clips of him in the Deep Roads, and in the Demo they did the other day, he was a possible party member on the selection screen when they first met Isabela. So, I'm guessing he's permanent.
As for how they plan to explain his presence, they've said they're willing to handwave situations if necessary, and they've also said that some of his lines will change depending on the choices you make. So presumably they've accounted for some situations, and the others can go hang. He's important to the plot as he gives us access to the Deep Roads, so even if he died or was executed in some people's Awakening games, they'll just have to deal with the fact that he got better.
It's not something that bothers me particularly, just one of the dangers you run into in such open-ended worlds where you actually give players a choice in these matters.

My money is on permanent companion simply because he's on the site with all of the rest, has at least one quest we know of (rescuing his mage friend), and has a much more complicated backstory than Mhairi.

Def. agree on male mage and on concentration (he might be in the Fade, perhaps?).
David Gaider mentioned on another thread that the video we see of him healing the kid is low-res, which matches my experience of playing DA on medium res until I realised I could change it to high quality (derp). Characters just look stupider on the lower settings (or blind or drunk - for instance, eyes don't show up as brilliantly).

Some of the others that post here regularly probably can answer better than I, but from what I know:
1) The developers (David Gaider specifically, I think) have said before that it's probably not a good idea to take the epilogue as sacrosanct. If he "died," then there was the whole Justice thing, so it's possible that the player/Warden thought he died when in actuality he just set off for Kirkwall.
Also, technically, he can still obey the epilogue and return to the Wardens. There are Wardens in other places besides Vigil's Keep, so he could still, in theory, return to the Order without returning to Vigil's Keep. Also, I know that the Wardens make an appearance in DA II. So maybe he IS still a part of them, just not as . . . devout a part as we all thought.
2) I'm pretty sure he's a permanent companion. I suppose they could "pull a Mhairi," but it seems unlikely that they'd do all the work of combining him with Justice just to kill him after a short time.
Hope that helps, I take no responsibility for how accurate it is.

Perhaps it's as if he is wearing 3D goggles, that's always trippy.
Like the red color is Anders and the blue is Justice and they do not mesh well.
