Uh... looking at the story. Um. Can I please get reassurance that Anders didn't kill the other companions from Awakening, because there is tragic and there is tragic beyond words.
I doubt it. Nate is sneaky like fox.

I think Ogrhen may have bitten the bullet in that story.
He can kill Velanna if he wants though, in fact, I encourage it.
I think that Oghren may have been the warden he knew. At least thats how I took it.
Disregard, I can't read apprently

Pretty sure this "Rolan" guy is the Warden he knows.
"It's
Rolan; of course it is. The price I had to pay for the Grey Wardens'
generosity in recruiting me out from under the templars' noses. He was
one of them, before his Chantry was destroyed by the darkspawn and he
felt the calling to join the Wardens. No one ever said a deal had been
struck, but as soon as the templars stopped their protests, Rolan turned
up in the Wardens, and we've fielded every assignment together since.
It's all too clear the templars sent him to keep watch."

Oh, Anders!
And the little character stories! Now I really do want to heal him with femHawke's bosom. Interesting insight into his deal with Justice too.

Huh. I interpreted that as being this Rolan who became a warden, who's brought along a templar friend. Maybe I will have to re-read it, and what a pity that shall be. :innocent:

Ah, you are correct. I was assuming that Rolan was still a templar. Reading comprehension fail on my part:pinched:

Haha, np. It's a bit confusing, whick makes sense, considering his condition. Rolan was apparently a templar that became a Grey Warden. I'm sure those two got on like a house on fire.

But after reading the story, I'm a little creeped out. Seems like Anders won't know what's going on when Vengeance comes out!

So..you guys are really okay with romancing an abomination?
I'm guessing it will be more complicated than that, considering Anders is retaining a lot of his free will, or at least trying to. Even my non-mage Warden hated the idea of executing a mage because of an abomination. Connor was saved, there's no reason Anders couldn't be helped similarly.
Murdering someone out of hand is a little harsh, mang.

Oh sweet Maker.
The short, urgent letter from Vigil’s Keep slipped from Eithne’s numb hands, but she still stared at the spot where it had been. She could see herself trembling as though she saw it through another’s eyes.
Alistair noticed the change come over his wife almost immediately, although he had been sitting at his writing desk across the room. Ever sensitive to her health these days, Alistair rose from his chair and crossed the room in a flash. He was just in time to catch her as her knees buckled.
“What’s the matter? Is it the baby?” Alistair asked, a note of panic entering his voice. Maker knows it had taken dark work and much hope to conceive even once…
Eithne shook her head and simply gestured to the letter fluttering on the floor. She did not cry. Eithne had not cried since the death of her parents, and she would not start again now. Alistair read the letter quickly, his face growing stonier with each word. When he finished, he seemed much older and wearier.
“He killed a dozen good men. Innocent men. Anders would never do[/i] that!” Eithne whispered.
“It’s not Anders anymore,” Alistair said gently.
“That can’t be true!” Eithne snapped.
Alistair decided not to argue this point at the moment.
Eithne began to pace. “This is my fault, Alistair.”
“Don’t be ridiculous. How in Thedas is it your fault?”
“I left. I left him, left them all.”
Alistair frowned slightly, again feeling that stir of jealousy he sometimes got when his wife spoke of her old friend. “He’s a grown man, not a child. You had your duty here.”
“I know,but... I should have known. If I’d been there, I could’ve seen this coming. I could have stopped it. I know it.”
Alistair gently took his wife’s hands in his. “Dear rose, don’t torment yourself with those thoughts. You can’t know that.”
“We have to find him and help him.”
Alistair seemed wary. “If he is found, he’ll be killed. You know that. He will have to face justice for what he’s done,” He said gently.
Eithne scrubbed a hand across her reddening face. “I can’t let this happen to him. He’s out there somewhere, trapped as some… abomination.” Oh, how it hurt to utter those words. “I can find a way to help him.”
“Sweeting,it can’t be done.”
“I have to try! We owe him everything. You owe him. Without his help, we never could have…” Eithne’s voice trailed away, as both their thoughts drifted to the night they begged for the apostate’s help. Eithne had eagerly pressed the grimoire Morrigan had left her into his hands, begging for aid in the rite that would give Ferelden the heir it so desperately desired.
She let out a choking sound. “Oh Maker, this really is my fault. I encouraged him! I always turned a blind eye to letting him use darker magic if it helped our cause. No, if it helped me.”
Alistair gathered his wife into his arms. He did not give her empty assurances, for she did not want them. The king of Ferelden watched the sun lower in the sky and felt the burden of his own responsibilities settle on his shoulders. Should he send someone after the abomination? Or should he leave it to Nathaniel Howe and the Wardens at Vigil’s Keep to track down their errant member?
Alistair crumpled the letter in his hand. He would do nothing tonight. He would at least give Eithne her time to grieve.
EDIT: Holy formatting, Batman!

Nope. Moira Surana apparently stepped down to retire with Zevran and Alistair at some point after Awakening.
There's no way in HELL she'd have allowed any Templar other than Alistair (or maybe Cullen) to shadow a mage like that.
Yay Sia!
My Wardens definitely leave the Keep and stepped down as well. They certainly wouldn't have kept tabs on Anders like that... but I know my Queen Cousland will now be wondering if she should have, after hearing word about the slaughter. She'll feel guilty about it, since Anders was one of her closest friends. Like maybe if she had been there, she could have stopped it from happening (since obviously she wouldn't know the details of is deal with Justice).
Now we just have to hope for an ending that is at least vaguely happy! I'd even be okay with a deal-with-the-devil kind of happiness ala the Dark Ritual.
Well, Queen Emma Cousland turned the commandership over to some Orlesian tart. She never met Anders.
Moira Surana... adored Anders like a big brother. And other than Alistair and Cullen, hates Templars. But... I know where they (and Oghren and Nate and Sigrun) are during this event. I'll just have to figure out why Anders didn't go with them.

Not when he thought this.
"There is no place for me in the Grey Wardens now.
Is there a place for me anywhere?"
These parts were pretty disturbing to me and not because of the fact that Anders is possessed by a corrupted spirit, but is he dead? Justice you gotta go!! but if you go will there be an Anders left?
"To stay in the mortal realm, he needs a host, a body to inhabit for a
lifetime, not a corpse which will rot out from beneath him. If I gave
him that, he would give me all he had, all he was. Together, we could
remake Thedas into a world where justice rules, not fear."
I feel bad too because it seems Anders realizes that this is not Justice and that he is not making any Justice killing just to kill.
"This is not justice. This is not the spirit who was my friend, my self. What has he become? What have I become? We must get out of here. There is no place for me in the Grey Wardens now."
I want to bet, we are not going to be able to romance him at all if we don't help him get rid of Justice. I mean, it's obvious he's in some sort of living hell and i can't believe my warden would betray him. I refuse to believe so. This is chantry treachery and they're gonna pay. I'm so siding with Mages!!!!!

It's all very tragic, and delicious! Muah ha! I hope we don't romance him only to have him die or some equivalent..

You know... reading his story, I realize his romance is probably going to be a tear-jerker. But I hope to at least make him happy before... well. Whatever happens.
