I have a question.

We now know that the specializations for warrior are 2 handed, sword and shield, vanguard, warmonger, reaver, defender and a couple more.

My question is, with so many skill webs, which ones are specializations and which ones are "free" webs? We only get 2 specialization unlocks so I would like to know how many of the webs are specializations and how many are attainable through normal leveling.

Thanks!

2 hander, sword and shield, vanguard and warmonger are free to all warriors

the remaining tree are actual specializations

Characterwise, it makes sense to fold the Champion talent into Hawk's basic options. As was said elsewhere, Hawk is the Champion, and is related to nobility. It's no surprise to me that the Champion abilities are already known or available to Hawk, meaning he/she dosen't have to learn them from someone/thing/etc else.

That said I'll either roll a Templar or Beserker, after my mage run through. If no one else in the party can shut down a mage, I'll go Templar, otherwise Beserker all the way.

Because I enjoy having a method to my madness.

Now you can try something new and different for your warrior in DA2 :)

I did try sword shield and 2h....
In both ocassions I endured those runs up to the 2nd spec.... Never finished them...

in the early vids, there was a cool looking attack called "Charge."

can the devs confirm if this has been renamed to "Scythe?"

if Charge is still in, is it a 2h only attack or can Sword and Shield Warriors do the Charge attack, too?

This doesn't really answer your question, but I recall that certain moves like shield bash were changed to give them a "closing attack" capability, meaning that they are functionally similar to a charge move. So perhaps this was done so that no matter what webs you pick, you will always have an attack that allows you to close distance.

I was hoping for Spirit Warrior over Berserker (please tell me that it stays sustained this time- I hated not having the basic skill for the spec available when we were chainsmoking mobs), but I can cope as long as Reaver is in and there's something akin to War Cry in the general abilities.

*mourns dw warriors some more*

Very dissapointing.... ALL my warriors are Dual Wielders....

And if you wanted to play a Dual Wielder in heavy armor?Image IPB

I'm sad that they took dualwielding away from warriors, as that was my favorite style.  But I've relativly made my peace with it for this game.  Hopefully future games will add aditional fighting styles to the exisiting ones.

At this point I'm not sure what style of warrior I'll use.  Big honkin sword, or smaller one with a shield?  *Strokes chin thoughtfully*

size matters dude

the bigger the sword the more enemies you hit with one swing

With how Reaver works, Spirit Warrior like abilities may, at least to some extent, slip in there. We'll know come the 22nd either way. And as for the other 2 specializations people where hoping for (champion/defender) looks like most of that was worked into the base webs. Gonna pair these up as I 'think' there probably the corresponding stuff.

-General Ability Webs-
Weapon and Board - Two-Handed ( direct weapon styles )
Vanguard - Defender (Offense vs Defense)
Warmonger - Battlemaster

-Specialization Ability Webs-
Templar - Reaver - Berserker

Now with the Warmonger and Battlemaster im kinda interested in. The other stuff seems kinda obvious but I have a feeling Warmonger is the more self-focused of the bunch. Where as Battlemaster is, as has been said looks like its the 'Champion' setup. The sustained group-buffs and so forth. Probably also has the taunt ability in it, or maybe Warmonger does. Either way it all looks very delicious.

-edit-
With companions I think they removed the 3 specializations and 'replaced' 1 of the 'weapon styles' with that companions unique Specialization. Im just guessing on that one but I think thats probably what they did. So for instance Fenris as folks had mentioned would have Two-Handed, Vanguard/Defender/Warmonger/battlemaster and to round it off at 6 Webs, his unique specialization that we don't know yet.

If I'm right about that, it would mean Hawke has, by lvl 14, 2 more Webs aviable to them then any companion does. Not sure what that means with the mage Companions but they both may just not have 1 web which is replaced with a specialization or... something along the same lines. I could see Merril, for instance, not having the 'arcane' one as that tends to be associated with the Mage Circle thing and it being replaced with a Keeper/Bloodmagic themed one.

Yeah I bet you Fenris' specialization it very SW oriented in design, but probably not actually 'spirit warrior'. I'd imagine its more based around the Lyrium flesh imprints (glowy tattoos) and experimentation the mages did on him that lead to said abilities then what the Spirit Warrior was. Either way he looks like he'll be fun to build.

I love that beserker is back. From a character building stand point that makes me really happy. My second play through will be with a warrior beserker. The mage is too badass this time around not to be my first play through.
