Same here. The party I'm currently considering would consist of Hawke, Isabela, Anders, and Sebastian, so I think it would make sense if I built Hawke as a tank and let Isabela and Sebastian handle the DPS side of things.

I personally wanna know if the 2-handed substanible skill indomitable is in the game...that skill alone could allow for a 2-hander to tank his ass off...lol

Yup, yup. Me too! 2H's with indomitable are my fav tanks cuz they rarely lose aggro cuz they get knocked on their butts or are seeing stars after getting stunned. I really hope it's in DA2 as a sustain that stays on like in DAO and not some activated bull that some of the newer specs got in DAA, lol.

Awesome. See now I don't know what I should play first as. I always start with warriors but the rogue has been looking sweet lately. But I think I'm kinda back on Lady Hawke warrior. I think she's going to use sword and shield. She looks weird to me with the big ass longsword or whatever.

And I am really curious with the Reaver specialization. I was Berserker before, I'll try Reaver for sure.

^____^ Can't wait!

EDIT: I guess I wouldn't mind being the tank and give Aveline a break my first play.

I'm thinking:
Lady Hawke warrior (Reaver) - Sword + Shield
Anders
Bethany/ Fenris
Varric

I kind of want one of my siblings if I can to stay with me, I think it's cool but if I can't keep Bethany with me throughout the game Fenris will replace her. Or Bethany will stay with me until I get Anders I think.

T_T too many choices! I want to squeeze in a 5th companion. lol Multiple playthroughs it is.:police:

THANK YOU, THANK YOU.. BIoware for returning the reaver spec!

This will certainly endorse me to play the game as a warrior as well , as it was pretty much my favorite Spec... and the only one I actively used :D

I'm actually after seeing the trailer, doubting what to play first... mage or warrior (so good job, as I ussually always play mage.. )

The possibilities are endless.... First up will be M!Hawke, 2H Templar + Berserker I think.

Btw, I'm guessing that the defender thing counts as the guardian role?

Which I do hope, cause my fav warrior I made was a reaver guardian and dual wield, considering I can't dual wield anymore I seriously need to think about what will fit...

My first couple play-throughs were with a warrior in DAO, specifically a two handed one (and I used to vigorously participate in the discussions arguing with people that 2handed did not in fact suck as they say). I must say I am quite disappointed in the selection. Templar was a given as it is a great, setting specific spec that has a lot of good lore and fun mechanics behind it. I say that generally hating Templars in the setting as a group. As for the other, while I am sure Bioware has gone out of there way to make a set of great mechanics for both Reaver and Berserker, the specs are, conceptually, too close together. While the means may be slightly different (and once again, I am sure that mechanics wise, they are both unique and fun), they fulfill the archetype of overtly aggressive warrior, concentrating on damage over party protection. Now, I know that things like Champion and Guardian most likely have been rolled into the other class skill webs (which is a great idea that expands the importance of the general class) but I feel like when I do play a warrior, I am not even going to care about my spec. I worked Berserker into the character of Human Noble Warrior along with champion (anger and depression over the loss of his family, yada yada), but I was just hoping for another option than templar, angry warrior, angry warrior for the specs.

Gah.... first you kill my Dual Wield warrior and now you kill the Champion spec. In a game where you're supposed to be the Champion of Kirkwall.

*sigh*

Very true.

Where I hoped to se more options, I see less. Where I hope to see more versatile characters, I see more specialized. It's a huge dissapointment, and, IMO, a giant leap backwards to the Bad Old Days of early D&D.

I knew the templar spec would be back. Makes sense for a city full of them. And reaver too, I like that one (wonder if we'll be learning it from crazy cultists again).

Don't care about Berserker, it justs reminds me of drunken Oghren.

I just hope that they don't nerf the templar spec again. IKt was indispensable in fights against mages that would freeze the party, but couldn't actually do much damage to mages or stop them from casting. And it kinda sucked that Anders was better at killing mages than my Champion Templar Guardian, (that kinda picked up the Spirit Warrior spec in Witch Hunt. That was rad).

I'm wondering how effective a combo Reaver and Berserker will be...........

Or, perhaps I'll combine Reaver and Templar and be a Dark Templar..............Posted Image

No question for me. Two-handed weapons, as much damage is I can put out at once.

Let someone else be the sacrificial meatshield... I've got mages to outshine. ;)

In Origins, I never played 2h warriors, cuz their attacks looked so slow and clunky.

In DA2, I was going to play as Sword and Shield again. But 2h warriors look like beasts now.

And with Reaver and Beserker, it looks like my 2h warrior will be focused on one thing........dealing max damage.........

Could you explain a little more.  Purely from a numerical stand point, we seem to be given the same number of options.  In DA:O we had four grids with sixteen abilities in each class.  Each class had four specializations with four abilities each.  Combined total equals eighty abilities.  With the new screenshots, it is shown that each ability tree has about ten choices where to allocate your points.   That's sixty choices without spcializations.  If specializations follow a similar pattern, then that's eighty.  Admittedly, there is only thirty-two base abilities, but with the addition of upgrades your choices are increased.

Now, thirty-two of those abilities were shared between rogues and warriors in DA:O.  Three of those specializations are returning, possibly with an expanded ability choice.  As other's have said it's possible that the Champion specialization has been folded into one or more of the ability trees; namely Battlemaster and probably Warmonger.  Personally, taking out dual wield warriors was a bit of a surprise, but it does make warriors more distinctive.  Which is a good thing, in my opinion.

Hopefully this isn't too off-topic, but I don't see a very active Sebastian thread around.

Has Sebastian been confirmed to be a warrior or a rogue?  I know he's an archer and that's exclusive to the rogue class now, but I've read some speculation that he may be a special case.  Anyone know for certain?

I guess that my second playthrough will be as a warrior (first playthrough will be a Rogue) mainly because of the reaver spec

It's strange to me that they got rid of the Champion sub class, it had some of the most useful abilities for warriors. Reaver seemed weakest in DA:O, but I liked the potential of it's description. I hope Reavers got reworked a bit.

If I end up playing this game I will likely make a warrior since rogue (my usual favorite) seems like a no-go.

Yeah I know... But none of the 3 specs appeal to me. I don't want to be an aposte ( Reaver ). I hate Chantry for their delusional teaching. ( Templar ) and I don't want to be barbarian ( Berserker ).

My warrior is the image of a noble knight with shield and heavy armor with allegiance only to his king and lords. I don't see that image anymore. :(

I felt the same way about templar when i first heard that. I figured itd be really weird to be a templar with my sister being an apostate...but i read it and it seems that the specialization is more based on the training rather than being an agent of the chantry which I really like. The chance to be a templar that isnt a slave to religion or simply mercilessy hunts any and all mages, but rather a guardian of the people who only uses his templar powers to protect the world from evil mages.

THAT image of a tenplar suits me. I hate reaver too, but im a fan of berseker =D

That would sure lead to some nasty fights in childhood with Hawke being a Templar and Bethany being a mage.

Hawke: Mooooom! Bethany has been in the bathroom for an hour!
Bethany: I have not, stay out you little nug butt!
Hawke: *Holy Smite - the west side of the Hawke home collapses*
Momma Hawke: Dammit kids...quick, gather your things and we'll blame it on the Darkspawn. I hated this town anyway.

Having a real hard time deciding if I should go sword and shield or two-handed sword... I guess the demo will have to proove which one fits me the best.

@ nightcobra

huh, that actually works really well: Guts (Gatts) Hawk(e)? Well, we do have the massive swords, and the black armor looks good... ^_^

Or maybe Casca (Kjaska) Hawk(e). Would make for a good Sword'n'Shield Warrior.

can't wait for the demo, need it to decide what class to start with. Warrior is looking very good right now.
