Hmm.

Staunch defenders will gravitate to mixing one handed weapons (be it axe, mace or blade) with a shield.
More offensive warriors gravitate to the larger two-handed weapons such as the greatsword or maul.

Does that mean no Two-Handed Axes?
I hope this is not the case, cause I really wanted to focus on that particulair weapon.

Good update. The specialisations are interesting, all three are very strong from a flavour perspective which will not fit with how some people want to roleplay their characters. Particularly when you pick two of them. Perhaps rather than picking a specialisation you could exchange that specialisation point for some attribute points. So long as there are also plenty of points to spend talents on I think that would make some people a lot happier.

As for these specialisations I think they are all very interesting. The execution of Reaver and Beserker was a bit lacking in Origins. Beserk din't really drain your stamina so the rest of the talents after the first one were pretty pointless, and the Reavers damage wasn't augmented enough to get even close to compensating for the risk. I hope they are a bit better balanced in DA2.

they are fighting styles that each have their own talent trees.  So, there's a Weapon and Shield talent tree and a 2h talent tree.

Yeah theres 6 trees for each class. Warrior basically has Two-Hander, Weapon/Shield (thats 2). Other 2 are damage oriented (Vanguard) and tanking both physical and elemental based sustained things (Defender). Then the other 2 seem more like generalist painted what I think is more of a self-empowering type (Warmonger) and more of the 'Champion' type thing as the 'Battlemaster'. THIS parts all speculation as far as Warmonger/Battlemaster but I think they follow the same kind of principle as Rivalry/Friendship but more as a build thing for Hawke. For instance from the battlemaster description you can briefly see it looks like it may be oriented around aiding your party with aura like sustained things (maybe). I figure due to that Warmonger will be a more personal self improvement ordeal. Just my speculation though so take that for what it is.

The 2-Hander, Weapon/Shield, Vanguard and Defender have been directly explained and shown though. 2H/SnB are styles, neither is specific to heavy dmg or tanking. Thats what Vanguard and Defender is for.

As for 2-handed axes im pretty sure thats still in. They've said all 3 types are in for 1H so seems odd they'd just leave out axes for 2H.

Shame 'bout the dual weapons, A good Berserker needs two weapons to savagely maim and kill his foes imo. Looking forward to what you guys did with the Reaver, though.

Is there any reason in particulair why the DW was removed from Warriors? I can imagine why you removed Archery from Warriors, but DW? Skimmed through this thread quickly, and a lot of the people appear to feel the same as I do about the removal of DW for Warriors. I'm not about to roll a Rogue to DW, stabbing people in the back..

Not sure if that was directed at me or not but when I said champion it was in refrense to the DAO specialization and how it related to the new skill tree web 'Battlemaster' and how I think the 2 are generally linked via probably similar abilities.

-edit-
While I love dual wielding and agree with your sentiment of berserkers needing 2 weapons I feel like saying actual 'Berserkr' often used shields. Banging your axe against your shield while your bleeding and howling is a great way to scare the living **** out of people and work your self into a frenzy.

If that part was for me then I was just making a pun on the fact the the champion of kirkwall cannot become the champion specialization. I wasn't directing it at anything really. Just a bad joke :)

Yeah I kinda figured that maybe it but never know around here, figured I'd try to clarify just in case. Honestly can't wait for the demo just so I can look over all the skills. If its like what I said above that really opens up a lot of room for just doing all manner of stuff. You don't even need to focus on weapon styles, could go dmg 'and' tanking, some kind of mixture. Though its gonna be hard with limited skill points for me. So many things, so little ability points to spend. I hope theres a bunch of books and stuff.

Lol well you don't actually need the Champion specialization in DA2. The battlemaster tree has the same exact abilities as Champion. Rally, and Bolster.

go ahead, but you won't be able to double wield long swords, only daggers:devil:

big swords are for warriors only

Gah.... first you kill my Dual Wield warrior and now you kill the Champion spec. In a game where you're supposed to be the Champion of Kirkwall.

*sigh*

This. I wasnt too upset over the loss of dual weild for warriors, but the Champion spec was my favorite.

Yep, same here. Speaking purely from a character-bilding standpoint and disregarding the gameplay bonuses, none of the revealed specs seem particularly appealing, so far.

I honestly never used the Champion powers in any of my playthroughs. I am slightly dissapointed that you can't dual weild, but it's not that big of a deal.

I wonder how hard it will be to get to the Templar spec? And I wonder if that will negate your relationship with Anders.

Because you not a champion. :P
Look a achivement list:

Champion of Kirkwall.
>Completed Dragon Age II.

So you will become champion only in final part of the game.

for those that are bothered by the absence of the champion spec, it's still there but as a basic tree now called the battlemaster.

the skills at the top of the tree look like the warcry as it is shown by the icon and rally as it is the only sustainable skill in this tree.

I did that comment because the achievement that he post could suggest when we cah become the Champion. Someone would not like to know that (not me, I already read the list).
