I'm planning on it. I almost always do a mage first in game like this. Then i'll do sword and shield war and then a archery rogue. The only combo I may not try is the 2h war. They just seem to have an odd look and the weapons are just too big.

Can you do melee damage with staff blades? It says on the Dragon Age wikia that it can

The best. Ever.
Was already planning to play a mage, even more excited with Anders back as a companion.

In the champion trailer I'd say the Mage combat looked the best, even though they were all awesome. Also a Hawke/Anders Mage team would be deadly, oh and very funny too. The 'default' Hawke seen in the destiny trailer is also a Mage, so as with Commander Shepard, I will go for the default, and most awesome.

I tried playing rogues and warriours in DA:O, but the mage kept bringing me back in because of the different mage types you could play depending on spell selection.

I will. I had planned on trying a sword a shield warrior, but if the Force Mage specialisation turns out to be what I hope it is (knocking enemies about with spells!) then it'll be too much fun to miss out on.

We shall both get our wish based on this video. Right at the beginning, Hawke uses a Force Mage spell called Telekinetic Burst. I'm in heaven right now; it's a dream come true. I've always wanted more spells like that.

Direct blasts of force to lift attractive women's skirts from 20 yards. Yes.

Good catch, I didn't notice that was part of the specialisation. Force Mage it is then!

I mainly played dwarves in DAO so I was limited to warrior and rogue. Excited about playing as a mage on Hawke for the first playthrough!

I may break and do a mage.... in DAO they just screamed squishy... which I know they are...but DAII they just looked better..... maybe to wear some armor?
Anyways Hawke/Anders match up is the best... since they're both technically apostates......and even better if he's a romance

Mage will definitely be my second play-through, but my first will be rogue. Lockpicking and stealth will let me explore freely, so that my mage reaps the benefits of a smoother run.

Currently deciding between Mage and Rogue for my first playthrough. I'll likely finalize my choice after the demo.

Mage will be a MUST in my book first time around. In Origins, it was my favorite run, especially with the Arcane Warrior specialization. Hopefully, there will be a similar if not better experience in DA2. Would love to gear up, hit 'em with a fury of magical mayhem, and then finish it with a keen blade. My cup 'o tea, really!

I am pretty certain I will play a M!Hawke Mage my first playthrough and a F!Hawke warrior my second playthrough.
