Agree with good size, small crew. If they fix anything for ME3 I hope it's the Normandy Scanners.....or give me command of a fleet of minnig ships.

I think they should just blast the planet and mine out whats left of it. Much more fun if you play as Renegade.
You would probably get like a billion tons of each element, too.

Finite resources.  Better yet....lets just develop the technology to harvest all developed sentient life every 50,000 years or so in order to prosper indefinetly with little challange against us.   oh wait.....

I enjoy the scaling of the Normandy. If anything I think Floor 2 is a bit too cramped together. It doesn't seem like everyone can fit into the meeting room prior to the SM, and the space between the CIC, Mordin's lab and Jacob's armory is all within walking distance. Remember the SR1? Now that seemed bigger.

I preferred the design of the SR-1 simply because it looked more lithe and predatory, like an arrowhead, with the swept-back wings and the forward "air brakes" extending almost to the ship's nose.

The SR-2 just looks like a generic "space plane", kind of like a misshapen SR-71 Blackbird. It's boring by comparison. The only thing I like about it is the V-shaped tail over the T-shape of the SR-1.

They should have had either more crew or fewer chairs and stations. I guess maybe it can all be seen as a product of bad management or over-ambitiousness on the part of Cerberus, like when companies build giant skyscrapers and then it takes over a decade to rent out all the office space.

that's very small thought. you don't think how about crews, huh? you only think about damn squad members? do you? SR2 is right size. just look at original Normandy. it is like little prison ship. so cramp, hallway is little tight. too many crews. actually, I don't it. SR 2 is better.

Looks good to me. Its not cruiser class yet (if we compare it side by side with the collector ship) and a cruiser seems like just too large to give it a stealth system, it'd be unrealistic IMO. Shepard needs something he can sneak around in, something fast but also not wimpy and can stand up to heavy fire. SR2 is perfect.

I like the first Normandy better as far as looks go, but both are far to spacious. They suffer from traditional sci-fi ship-ism, i.e. there is no stuff in it at all. Every real warship is packed in every available space with food, water, supplies, weapons, ammo, DC equipment, spare parts and people. I can understand why though, it would make for terrible level design if it were realistic in that aspect, the same way it would be hard to film a movie like star trek or star wars inside of a ship-like set.

Although, this profile is growin on me:

Huh. Odd, I found that the Normandy from ME1 was too small.

in me 1 you have military ship powerful and made for military

in me 2 you have civilian ship which has few upgrades to make it more like military leather seats windows what the hell why do you need windows its just not the ship used for fighting i guarantee sr1 would win against it

I like the SR2, it's a nice enough size, although I agree with:

The ship's fine, but the crew is too small. There's too many empty chairs.

There really is a very silly amount of empty chairs/stations in the CIC

The crew just needs to be more animated. Have them walk around and do other things... maybe even put the showers to use. :bandit:

Too big? It felt too small to me... especially with the limited conversation boxing me in from all sides...

The description of the frigate Anderson travels in at the beginning of the first Mass Effect book also gives that description of alliance frigates. Ie. It's cramped and every square meter is utilized.

The bigger Normandy is silly. Lowers its maneuverability and stops it providing as good support when Shepard is on a planet.

Alas someone beat me to it.

But I don't think the Normandy is too big *smirks* no but seriously, I prefer the SR2... the only thing that it lacks is some good BGM Normandy music... something I do miss a lot, heh.

I kinda agree with the OP,because when you look at Normandy from docks on Ilium or Omega it actually seems much smaller from outside then it really is when you enter it.And like SalsaDMA said, frigates in Revelation were described as cramped ships with barely enough space to normally walk in it.

While I tend to agree it is too big, my bigger complaint is (possibly more oddly) that it is too bright. I liked the lighting of Normandy 1 far much better. TIM just doesn't care about his carbon footprint!

YES. YES! A THOUSAND TIMES YES!

Let's see the fabled human dreadnoughts already!
speaking of which - given that the reapers are coming, s*** the civilizied size/tonnage. Humantiy needs to build a ship that dwarfs a reaper!

Good movies filmed on aircraft carriers and submarines would like to have a word with you.

Don't know if anyone's brought this up, but as much as I like the overall design of the Normandy, it feels way too big for the number of people and things on board. Even with a full crew it can feel like a ghost ship. I think it would have felt more realistic if it were either half the size, or had a bigger crew.

The original Normandy is history.I would trade the Cerberus frigate for an Alliance destroyer, better armed and armored.Of course Joker is still my pilot with EDI transfered in an android body as a co-pilot so he wont be so lonely LOL! Posted Image

I thought the second Normandy was actually easier to get around than the first and of acceptable size (thats what she said). =/

I do agree that it SEEMS like we would need mroe crew, but I also agree that the computer seems to be able to do lots of the mundane thinsg crewmates used to do... although, Im a belt and suspenders guy so - uh - gimme extra crew as back-up in case the computer goes Hal on me...

Also... forgot to say before, the scene where Joker turns over the control to the AI was PRICELESS! Jokers lines cracked me up again and again. Nice work guys... that sounded exactly like what people would say IRL if that happened.

Two reasons why I disagree.   Cerberus cells need to be small to avoid leaks. And EDI is capable of doing tasks that other crew could have done...            The fact that the Normandy 2 has a bar and observation rooms is proof that TIM wanted the crew to have space and feel comfortable during their mission.

Love the size of the Normandy... I felt the first one was too small and that even minor things like a bathroom should have been added just for realism.
