Just spoke to Jess at my local Gamestop in California. He said the Rave cards for the Pre-orders for Dragon Age are in.! They will only be released when you come in to pick up the game on November 3rd.

It may be called a Rave Card because you rant and Rave when you accidently throw it away.

It's a 'card' with the DLC code in it.

Rave cards have the download codes for your pre-order goodies. Different stores have different goodies. Gamestop has the Feral wolf charm and a memory ring.

The DLC cards are separate from the packaged game? This makes me very, very nervous.

Up here in Canada, we only have EB Games. They are owned by Gamestop, but NEVER have the pre-order bonuses that the U.S. has. They never even pretend to know that the bonuses exist. If I don't get the free DLCs with my purchase, I'm driving over to BioWare (I live in Edmonton) and demanding one in person.

My friend works at the local gamestop and yes they did get them in but they just have a stack of them and their company email said they are "to be given out on a first come first serve basis and that they should be getting more soon". But he said that they have said that in the past but never recieved anymore after the original amount. So i hope they do get in a second stack before release O.O!!

This is really a horrible idea - trusting game store employees to fairly distribute something that is advertised as guaranteed. These cards should have been packaged in with the game.

I strongly agree since most people who go to gamer stores often see these things handed out to 'friends' all of the time.

The cards for the first-purchase DLC are packaged in the boxes. It's only the preorder cards (which you can't stick in the box, otherwise people who didn't preorder would get them) that are distributed separately by retailers.

I agree with you Raz. Hopefully Amazon doesn't screw it up, I actually trust them more than your average gamestop employee. I have to assume Amazon has better quality control!

I have never had a problem getting a rave card. Once I even waited a week before picking up my game and I still got it.

It's funny, every time a question is asked, there's 4-5 times the same answer posted by different people :P

Putting it in with the game requires a manufacturing step which means outlet-specific manufacturing, which drives up the cost of the Premium/DLC offer.

E.g. with EA not going to happen :)
They would rather the premium not exist.

To clarify...

Codes for Blood Dragon Armour and The Stone Prisoner are inside the box.

Codes for promotional items specific to your retailer are outside the box.

Does that sound right?

If true, that makes sense and seems fair.

Just picked up the Rave card from Gamestop a few minutes ago. One of the newer employees was in there and handed it to me when I asked about the November 3rd release date. Apparently, some of the newer employees don't know about not releasing the cards with the game. Pretty card, 4 and 1/2 inches by 7 inches long. Has the red blood dragon on the front with a fully armored templar and the young earlier version of Morrigan in the dragon drawing. Back of card says "Thank-you for your pre-order. When the game ships, you'll now have access to your IN GAME Feral Wolf Charm and Memory Band."

Back of Card has the 2 pictures of the items and 16 digit code for each item.

Download directions:

1)Enter your code at dragonage.bioware.com/redeem

2) Start up Dragon Age: Origins and log on to your EA online account.

3) Go to the Downloadable Content menu to view the download progress.

So you might want to go to your place of sale (Instore pick-up that is) and see if you can get the card early, just in case they run out. My Gamestop had a stack of 9 cards and that was it.

Presumably they only had 9 people place preorders, so only asked for 9 cards.

Looks like some of these rave cards are now showing up at the big on-line auction site, all of them from Gamestop, LOL!
