Me too! It's one of those rare cases where the voice actor takes a character and turns it into something special. I will take Merrill along in my party just to listen to her talk.

Eve Myles is one of my favourite actresses at the moment. As a welsh girl myself, I am delighted to see our (mostly) beautiful accent getting some love. Thankyou Mr Gaider and Bioware xx

Oh, you know dumbly enough... I really liked that Ostagar prisoner's voice (Adam Howden) and always thought he'd be good to bring back. At least I know I'm not crazy since Anders in the video sounded nothing like Greg Ellis.

Some possible reasons for Howden replacing Ellis as Anders (or did he?)

1) We know that Anders is now spirit infused. I suppose that could change your voice if the Spirit is speaking through you.

2) Ellis was just unavailable. He's been busy lately, most notably with filming the new Pirates of the Caribbean.

3) Ellis may *still* be doing some voicing for Anders. Perhaps Howden is the voice of Anders/Spirit with perhaps the Spirit being exorcised later in the game leaving just normal Anders voiced by Ellis. You know that Anders is all about freedom, so maybe he'll decide somewhere along the line that he doesn't like being a Spirit's puppet.

(And as a side note, BOO YA to myself for playing detective on Twitter and discovering that Howden had done some VA for DA2. Little did I know it would be such a major role)

Even though in a twisted fate of irony she's probably just voicing some random Orleasian we meet at some point. But even then she would be the most awesome random Orleasian ever!

New face, new voice, new personality, new writer... There's only one reason to keep the name, and that's to play on our established feelings for Anders, because there's no way anyone would sympathise with this character otherwise.

Possibly because we have an excellent reason to use this character? Something you may not even know about, yet? That and it's possible for a character to have changed while still being recognizeable as the person you knew? He's not there simply for fan service, after all.

That reminds me of something we speculated about a while ago... Did you guys create Anders for DA2 first and then decide to put him in Awakening? Or was he created just for Awakening and then carried over later for DA2?

Thanks for that, Mr. Gaider. I will approach with cautious optimism. Many did love Anders in DA:A, but it would be a bit of a downer if he remained a static character. DA:A Anders was the Anders my Warden knew, and the DA2 Anders will have to be someone that my Hawke comes to know.

I would disapprove of the change in Anders's VA, but I'm kind of mesmerized by Eve Myles as Merrill and the possiblity of a Leliana cameo.

Hm, just found out Greg isn't voicing Anders over on a Dragon Age LJ community. I did not see that coming. *wibbles* Ah well, I take back my earlier comment, then as it appears I was wrong on all of my VA guesses. *slips into 'sad panda' mode* Y U DO DIS BIOWARE?!

Don't worry, I'll get over it... eventually. Back to playing Awakening so my import save will be ready for DA2.
