More recruitment/loyalty missions? GTFO is all I have to say on the matter.
1 to replace Thane, fair enough. 2, maybe. 3 or more and the game gets shelved.

Odd, I wish they give as 4 new squadmates in ME3( for gameplay balance).
Also they should have no loyalty or loyalty mission that will be main part of ME3 plot and not optional.

If they are there to compliment my current squad, all well and good. But if they are there to replace my current squad, then I will feel that ME2 was just a cashcow shoved out by EA, and it will be the very last time I spend money on any Bioware/EA product. Im not going to open my wallet fo ME2.5

Only 2 characters carried over from ME1 so personally I don't see the big deal. Out of the whole cast I'd have.

1. Tali - she was in ME1
2. Garrus - he was in ME1
3. Legion - he's a good plot hook
4. Grunt - agian a good plot hook

It comes down to how much ME3 is going to try to attract new players vs how much Bioware is going to pander to the desires of established players. That's really upto them.

Don't they sort of have to add characters that could replace your squad? I mean... what if you lost the majority? Maybe if that's the case then they'll join you but otherwise they're independent.

As cheesey as it was, at least there was a reason why you had to go along and recruit another squad. I dont see how they will fit in some squaddies leaving, and forcing you to go out and get more?

"I'm sorry Commander, I just realised I left the oven on. I have to fly back to the Centauri system to switch it off."

Or will they pull the "dead, but got better" routine again?

Either way, having to go through the entire recruitment routine again will ruin the game for me, and I'll shelve it.

I shelved DA:O because the VA at the beginning of the game was just woeful, and I couldnt stand to hear Duncan drone on without being overcome with a desire to punch him in the monitor. DA:O was a far better RPG than ME/ME2, yet I shelved it beacuse of crap VA during the introductory part of the game. I wont be afraid to shelve ME3 if they shove rinse-repeat recruitment down our throats.

2 shelvings of games from the once great Bioware is telling, and you can bet I wont be giving them any more chances to see the insides of my wallet.

There should be an option, but they shouldn't include them at the cost of the previous ones in the way ME2 did for ME1.

I am not sure why everyone is so insistent that Thane will be alive when we have no idea how long after Mass Effect 2 that Mass Effect 3 begins, it's the same reason I don't get the "How do the Reapers get to Earth so fast" argument.

Thane should die I've got nothing against him , he's very useful but he's supposed to be dying so he should go off and spend his last days/months with his son not be dragged around on the crew.

Yup, if you don't romance him, that is.

There could be millions.

On top of the current existing ones:

Morinth + Shep - very very unlikely... but u know Shep's a hard nut Schle got the prothean vision didnt Schle. (id make the futurama references... easier -> Schle = He/she)

Morinth and Kelly (that is if shep isnt keeping a good eye on them two... Kelly is too nice to refuse and morinth is too seductive)

Mordin + Grunt Bro-mance. The ultimate death duo. Mordin's essay-like speeches plus Grunt's blunty put "They still die when you shoot 'em)

I got loads more ideas in my head - not sure i like the picture though.

What's the outcome if that happens?

Ah yea, another two good ones.

(M) shep + Kasumi
Kasumi + Jacob (if both survive and interact a lot)

I always liked Kasumi. Quite an interesting character.

Where to begin?

In short, he literally falls in love with Shepard, going as far as telling her that he's now afraid of his impending death since he has found peace and comfort with her. Compare that to what happens for a non-romanced Thane and you will see my point.

Thane is afraid of death? Boo, how unmanly of him!

Yes to new love interest, and i want them to be new people not just people that shepard had met in the past two games, and no existing love interest becoming bisexual

I don't want any new love interests in Mass Effect 3 (or at least very little). Bioware already has 11 romance scenarios to work into each cannon and there become a point were romances ruin the main plot.

That's why the Alliance made those "fraternization" regs.

And that's why I support that Shepard could have an LI in every port!

Yep. And Feron will be Thane's replacement. I'm calling it now. Just bring the whole team back. And have a revolving roster. Some NPC's are going to be busy (Liara, Wrex, VS, Tali, Legion, ect) so they likley won't serve with Shep100% of the time and this way EVERYBODY does come back.

i'd like to delve deeper into the love relationships you form (especially miranda-melt that cold heart) but i wouldn't mind more LIs.just adds to replayability factor.judging from the range of choices from previous games and the range of wishes on this thread alone, bioware have a tough job ahead of them making everything tie up nicely in ME3.i feel sorry for them.expectation is huge.

I mean technically you should be able to romance any female character in the game or at least try to, eg Samara when you pressure her too much she leaves the ship. But that would take away from the actual story line. Sticking to 3 or 4 possible LI's is enough for an RPG/Action game.  I agree with the above post about going deeper into the few relationship possibilities that are there.

Give me a hot new sex scene between Liara and female Shepard and I'm good. Image IPB

While I'm not against the idea of new LIs I don't see how fitting them into Mass Effect 3 would work with 9 (and that's not counting Kelly and Samara) other relationships from the first two games, to me it might be a bit much to deal with "the whole lets gather allies to stop the Reapers from destroying all organic life in galaxy" vibe I got from the trailer.

I would love to see the romances be a crucial part of the main quest and not a glorified side-quest. Something like maybe Harbinger captures them and it becomes a race against time to rescue them before they become indocatrated and/or implanted with cyberntics like Saren and Sheaprd has to fight them at the end of the game (now there is a final battle worth the wait) and Shepard has make a ultimate choice to save the love of your life or a planet.

Honestly? I think they should focus more on allowing us to develop deep, trusting friendships with characters rather than make them romanceable.

I feel as if people generally have come to the conclusion that LI = more interaction with characters they like. I think that's why everyone is always asking whether a given character can be romanced; it's just an extra feature that adds depth to the interactions with said character... even though more options are always welcome, I say keep the new LIs to a minimum... say, 2 new ones for ME3.

We honestly don't need anymore, seeing as there are already more than 10 LIs in the trilogy now. Really, I don't want to be restricted from "comforting" characters my Shepard has befriended just because he/she isn't romantically involved with said characters. Nor do I want deeper interactions with those LIs to be off-limits just because I chose to go with Liara, and not Miranda, Jack, Thane, Jacob, Tali, Kaidan, Garrus, etc.

I wouldn't mind if there was one new LI per gender, but no more than that.
