They told the DLCs for DA2 will be focused on Hawke.
This could mean Hakwe won't die in the main story.

Is Hawke gonna become the Main Character for ALL the DA games? (like Shepard in Mass Effect)
What do you think?

Sweet maker I hope not. Dragon Age is about the world, not just one super badass. So the chances of that are pretty slim thankfully.

Nah, I don't think so.  Seems like they like the idea of starting fresh with a new hero in the Dragon Age franchise.

So I hope... I'd like to have back my Warden at least in Dragon Age 3, to end the "Morrigan Story"...

but I really FEAR Hawke is gonna be like Shepard, as they are making DA2 very similar to Mass Effect for certains features...

If so, I'll be sorely put out. If they have a different main for every game in the series, or wait a while to revisit them, I'll forgive dumping the Warden like the trash from last night's party.

What I'm secretly hoping for is a couple more games with different protagonists, and a capstone to the series with an Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny. The Warden would sadly have to be the main character, being mute and all, but it would be nifty if you could pick your favorite main to have "in charge". It would be the cheesiest game ever, but I'd play it and forgive all trespasses because it would have to be ridiculously over the top.

I doubt Hawke will be a main character for more than one game. Maybe in III but nothing after that.

I could easily see Hawke making a cameo in future installments, though.

i predict it's more like a different hero for every game.

like, in DA3 you could be a chevalier in orlais

and in DA4 you would be a qunari in Par' vollen

and so on.

dragon age isn't about the warden or hawke

it's about a series of adventures that take place in thedas during the dragon age which spans over 100 years.

I don't think they'd have chosen a ten year timeframe for DA2 if that was the case. By the time, say DA5 comes around Hawke and co would be well past their prime.

If The Warden is coming back, he/she would have to be voiced and I don't see Bioware doing it and they've already stated that with Dragon Age - they'll all be about different tales and stories not about one character.

So we have The Warden's Tale.

Hawke's Tale and so on.

well apparently hawke has a war to stop at the end of DA2. but that dosne't seem like something that should be done so quickly. Why else would we spend an entire game learning why this character is so important if Hawke won't be the main character afterward?

So... You want a full game to address a DLC? Despite the fact that said DLC is a conclusion by itself? What about us who played a Warden who couldn't care less about Morrigan? Are we to be saddled with the swamp witch, regardless of *our* continuity?
Anyway, addressing the OP, I don't think that'll be a problem, as the developers have already stated that Dragon Age games are about the setting, so we'll most likely get a different protagonist and a different location for DA 3.

I don't understand how similar gameplay features translates into story features.

I hope Hawke will be the main character for DA2 and DA3 at least. DA2 builds up to why Hawke is so important, it would be a shame to not actually explore what he does when he is that important person. I doubt it will happen though, I think we'll be seeing a new character in almost every sequel.

Honestly I hope he still is the main character for DA 3 to continue his story and stress his importance to the DA universe.

No. I'd much rather BW stick to their guns and have the main character of DA be Thedas. That way we get a different character and possibly different narrative for each game.

I like the idea of passing along the world, but not the character. That's neat. So long as BioWare remembers that our choices in previous games should mean something in the later ones.

From the hints we've had about Cassandra in DA3, and given that her whole purpose in DA2 is to reconnoiter about Hawke's possible role in a future conflict, I'm pretty sure Hawke will at least play a significant role in 3, even if not as the PC.

But I'd be very sorry if the DA series as a whole ended up focused on a single character rather than exploring the various lands of Thedas and chronicling the whole century.

I want to see Weisshaupt eventually. What reason does Hawke have to go to Weisshaupt?

No. I have doubt about Hawke character due to the nature of story within story.

As the person who should be called Hawke, I find it difficult to accept that:

Varric is being interrogate by Cassandra. Therefore, we know Hawke is not present. We don't know what happen to Hawke except we know he's the Champion of Kirkwall. Whatever Varric's account, things already happen. We might see Hawke started at Loitering early in the game. But that event was 10 years ago. The shadow of Hawke's past. Not the real Hawke. There are already rumor that Hawke's story might end as cliffhanger, meaning we may never know for sure where he is by the end of the story. Thus, if we are Hawke, how can we don't know our present location and what happen to ourself. Are we even alive?

If I am wrong then can someone please explain or at least assure so that I don't feel lost about my own character.

I believe Dragon Age 3 will deal with Cassandra's boss, who might be some tough badass Templar guy. :P
