it's not bad, not really stirring though, at least not for me.

I agree. Its nice and smooth but not that Main Themey as I would have wanted it. Nothing that stay with me.
But I like the tuch of "Dragon Age Main Theme" that is there wich makes you feel that it is a Dragon Age Theme because you recognise parts from Origins and Awakening. There are some parts that give me shills so thats a good thing.:P
Maybe I'll change my mind later. There have been themes I haven't like at first but loved later.:)

Sounds like good menu music to me.

It sounds like a mix between DA:O's menu theme and Uncharted 2's menu theme.

I like it.

Not bad. I like how it seems to play off the Origins theme, but as has been said, I don't quite get the horns, as I always thought that was sort of the Darkspawn or Blight aspect of the Origins theme.

It would be nice if they kept evolving the Origins theme throughout the games, not unlike Bethesda keeps tweaking the Elder Scrolls themes from Morrowind onward. I just hope the music in the game is more varied and less repetitive with less looping- the Orzammar theme is still stuck in my head.

That said, its got absolutely nothing on Jeremy Soule and Skyrim's theme.

On the horns I think that we heard fewer of them means the dark spawn are fading and are not the true threat.

I guess I was expecting something more original. The bellowing from the horns does indeed feel like we are going to kick some darkspawn butt, for me, it's in the deep roads. I suppose I was looking from something that would be unique to the hero of Kirkwall, not reminding me of my warden.

At first I was like "Hmm... not bad, not bad at all"

And then I got to about 1:25, and the only word that came to my mind at that moment was "Amazing".

It doesn't present with the grandiose theme of DAO's main title, but goes for something different. I love the 2nd half of the track. I feel like it really evokes the ten year aspect of the game, a real saga, and the piece's emotional sections represent this. We'll see how it's used in-game. We can hear motifs from the Origins in there, perhaps the entire piece is a series of leitmotifs that we'll find more developed in other pieces. I hope so!

What we heard in the Destiny trailer was Hawke's theme, I believe it was said. Another piece?

Once again, he creates theme music that has awesome build but lacks in resolve, only endless labyrinths of continuous chordal progressions that simply won't allow for immersion in the beauty it continually suggests but never satisfies.
I have a feeling he's simply afraid to write the "predictable".  Sometimes satisfying musical anticipation (within the piece) can be the most beautiful parts of a composition.

Edit: as far as the Destiny trailer is concerned, that sounded much better for me. Though short, it was powerful and made a complete melodic statement.

Interesting how they've chosen the Darkspawn music from the first game (that dark, rumbling horn motif that plays in the DA:O opening movie over the mosaic art of the Tevinter mages turning black with glowing eyes) as the centrepiece of the theme for DA2. Gives me the feeling that the results of Hawke's reign will ultimately be darker than we might expect. Perhaps Hawke will unwittingly (or on purpose if you play that way) cause the destruction of a major institution, the Circle or the Chantry or maybe even the entire city itself.

Its not too bad.  I thought it was going to stir up to something a bit more intense but overall I like it.

Bland. Not something I'd listen to separately from the game. It's OK main menu music I suppose.

Yes it is, but it's the part associated with the Darkspawn.  You hear it other places in the game too, but always associated with Darkspawn.

I disagree, DAO had a rather mediocre uninspired soundtrack with 2 exceptions, (Lothering, Calenhad docks ), I'm really hoping for better less boring tracks for DAII.

The overall motif is the theme for Dragon Age itself, not Hawke's theme. Hawke has his own separate theme, which (IIRC) we heard part of in the Destiny trailer.

Wait... do characters have their own themes? This is something I really miss from older BioWare games. I loved how some characters had their own themes back then.

Not really feeling it, but then again, I'm not surprised, as this is a CRPG...

I suppose the darkspawn are important to Hawke's story too, though. They're the reason he's in Kirkwall, and they -- (spoilers) --  killed one of his siblings (and family is important in DA2). There may be other tie-ins we don't know about yet.

That low stringy hum at the beginning also seems to be Hawke related. I think it's supposed to be reminiscent of Lothering. I'm not sure what the instrument is, but I think they use the same one when Hawke shows up in the Destiny trailer.
