Is there any possible way?

These guys are pure anti-mage, so it's expected that they're hard to kill, but to me, it almost seems impossible.

Crushing Prison will stop them in their tracks, until they use Cleanse Area, same goes for Grease/Forcefield (altough forcefield would be a bad move). The only thing I can think of is summoning skeletons and hoping they can't be dispelled.

You could always tell Oghren to chop his head off.

Hehe, I should've known I'd get a response like that!

I'm talking about a 1 vs 1 (or a full mage party vs templars.)

Flemeth manages. There's a key strategy you have to follow precisely. I'll give it in detail, so pay attention.

Be a higher level.

If the thing you are supposed to counter still can be on-par with you, there's something wrong with the game balance no?

Whack them with your staff!

Or specialize in Arcane Warrior and pummel them with your weapon of choice...

You do know there's no PvP in this game?

Agreed - the templar is meant to be the rock to your scissors; it's going to be essentially impossible to beat him one-on-one as a mage. And that's exactly how it's meant to be.

No, you shall be flogged in public for this offence.

Still, the record on these forums is a quadruple post I think.

As to the subject at hand, grease and similar slowing spells and then primal-kill them.

Not a bad idea. One of the things I will definitely try out is how a mage can best a templar.

MMO? What? Where?

Game mechanics aside, it's possible for a mage to beat a templar. They just have to be creative with how they use magic is all.

If your opponent is designed specifically to fight you, you just need to change your tactics.

Mages are glass cannons. Heavy hitting but they can't take the heat. What you gain in making a group more effective you lose by being weaker in single combat.

do you realize how many spells there are that can incapacitate your enemy? unless that templar has 100% magic resistance, he's SO going down

curl up in a lil ball and beg for mercy

nah well if u think about it as long as u can keep out of the reach of the templar you can win templar's attacks are mostly physical so just dont be cornered

Good luck doing that when you don't have any mana!

You'll have to freeze/stun him, else you're dead. Templars drain mana with each hit.

And debuffs don't work either, since they can just despell them. I wonder if Templars can despell a shapeshift. Would be kinda funny.
