Because Dragon Age still has many D&D habits (just look at the spells)
i think that the templar resistance will only make it easier to pass thei test
against a spell and will "only" suffer one part of the full damage.
This doesnt make them invincible; and doestn mean they will always succeed.
And because of the 1vs1 problematics:
After NWN2 and Mass Effect we will again have the chance for
SOLOING!!!!!!!!!!
Just remembers me of the good old F/M/T's, Swashbuckler/Mages and Kensai/Mages ^^

If you're in middle of swimming away when the Templar Mana Drain + Damage + Stun ability (what the buggers is the name of that thing anyway?) hits you, & the stun succesfully sticks, you're gonna sink too from lack of ability to swim anymore...Tyveron wrote...

As a mage there is always one action that would be my first response upon being confronted by a Templer...
Run away.
Run away.

Use the freeze ray and hopefully freeze the templar. That should "Stop" it, while the templar is frozen, try to break their equipment.

If the templar's abilities are considered magic then it should actually be pretty easy to do using glyphs: glyph of repulsion + the glyph that shuts down magic. Corner them or put yourself in a corner with the glyphs between the two of you, then just use magic. Also if it's magic there are some spirit abilities that block magic effects; those ought to work.
As far as I can tell templars have no immunity to the instant death freeze/paralyze + stone fist/crushing prison.
Pretty much any kind of frontloaded damage should work, and I think blood magic will do pretty well too.

Yeah but in D&D, mages was hundred times stronger than warriors at high level... I love mages, but I hope it's more balanced in DAO.
