... that someone posting on General forums with topics explicitly involving game spoilers and doesn't have the game registered is a pirate?

Could be playing it on an offline computer?

I'm too lazy to make assumptions.

Maybe he's just a dick? Researching all the spoilers just so he can post them and ruin the experience for others. Sounds like something a dick would do. Like shooting a friend in a "hunting accident."

If they play it on an offline computer, why did they not register the game when they visit the site on an internet ready computer, knowing that the spoiler forums require registration, as written in its description, and post on the general forums anyway?

There simply is very little room for alternative possibilities.

Perhaps they are not intelligent enough to register their game?

It is a viable possibility.

Aye, you're right I suppose. As mrofni say, maybe they're just a dick.

They could, you know, just be careless and not notice the fact you aren't supposed to post spoilers in the general discussion.

Yes people are that stupid.

Funny story, 4 of the 6 repliers do not have the game registered. What's with the reason of them being careless or stupid again?

DigitalOrigami is not buying DAO out of principle for BioWare "missing the ball" with Mass Effect, but he's not going to pirate it either.

Snoteye is another member I can vouch for for not pirating the game. The rest is unknown to me. (SardaukerElite has a registered copy)

Is that so? I'm curious to understand this perspective.

Mordaedil is pretty much right. I thought Bioware didn't deliver on the product they were claiming ME would be. To me it was a mediocre shooter with nowhere near the story and character opportunities that were originally promised. Previous Bioware games I've played 20, 30, even 40 times, but it was all I could do to get through ME twice. Since then, I've had a hard time getting into gaming of any kind. About all I've played since then was GTA IV. In a way, I should thank Bioware. I went from buying a game a month to one a year. They did a great job of killing gaming as a hobby for me.

I may eventually buy DA. Lots of people here who's opinions I value say good things about the game, but I'm just not that interested in playing it right now. I've got other hobbies on the go, some software I'm trying to learn, and a decent supply of alcohol that needs attention. ;)

Well, that's fair enough then. Anyhow, back onto topic.

What struck me as suspicious is that there are people who ask about spoiler-related questions on the General forum, who obviously have played the game for awhile, yet their account does not have the game registered, nor is there any character info in their profile.

It is possible that the profile update is having problem. I know it does, actually. The other possibility however is that they are bypassing the necessity to log into the game and play.

There is no necessity to login or to upload any information to play the game.

Assuming the game is played with zero DLC, even the free ones which comes with every new purchase.

If you just bought the regular edition your free DLC is only one set of armour with dodgey looking glowy bits and an extra party memeber. While the later is quite good I can certainly understand how people wouldn't bother getting it. Especially when you consider that the game requires them to log in everytime they play if the save file contains add on content.

And does it make sense at the same time that those people also decidedly not register their game and post spoiler related topics in the General forum when they know that if they registered they can just go straight to the Spoiler forum?

I just did a test. You do NOT have to be logged in to use DLC already installed.

To be sure, I logged out, "resumed game", quit the game entirely, started it again, control-checked that it was still logged out and resumed game. DLC was still installed and active.

Your worry is for naught. You do not need an account to use the DLC.

No it doesn't make sense, but lots of people of people do things that don't make sense on the internet, I'm just saying there could be another explanation. Maybe they're pirates, maybe they're just stupid, maybe it's an elaborate plot by Chris Priestly to test our loyalty.

Odd, it always gives me scary warning when I load a save file with add ons without logging in. I just took its word for it.

To help you prove this point:

Over on the GOOD forums there is a constant stream of idiots that post spoilers on the non-spoiler forum and you don't ned to have your game rgisterd there to post on the spoiler board.
