I recently (within the past few months) bought and downloaded the NWN2 Platinum version from steam and haven't really been playing it for long periods of time until today, I have found a problem where I am unable to select/control npc party members, my mouse wheel changes from zooming in and out to paging the action bar to different pages, and my character automatically walks even though they are not in any sort of movement speed reduction mode, and they aren't overencumbered.

This problem has occured frequently, first at a time in the tutorial where I switched characters while a tutorial was going on, I fixed it form this point by relogging and reloading, it happened again soon afterwards but to my friend who I'm playing the game with, it happened again frequently afterwards, and it happened again to me sometime later on, I have tried to reset keybinds to "default" to see if that resolves the problem but it doesn't, as well as changing character modes (exploration, character, combat views) but still it doesn't fix the problem, during these times there has been no character switching that would warrant the controls being weird like the first time.

From my limited play time with the game, this problem has only occured when I've been playing with my friend, and it hasn't happened on single player.

Any help would be appreciated.

'tis odd. I can say that both those behaviors indicate your Shift-key is stuck down somehow (ie, holding down Shift pages the action bar, and forces walking). Shift may also force 'group select' instead of 'change control'.

definitely. look into a funky Shift key (& maybe keymapping)


edit, I have no idea why it seems to occur only during MP (multi-player).

I did not find any keybind for the walk action, and my shift key is fine >.<, I was looking into another possibiltiy which I didn't mention, I also have xfire running while playing NWN2 but I didn't use it when I was playing alone, however when I was playing MP I did use it to talk to people abit, which involved pressing the scroll lock and x key, I was thinking that the problem might be attached to that somehow.

didya try MP without xfire yet? you might want to try it from a clean boot ..

Next time it happens just try hitting the shift key, that fixes it for me every time.
