YES over 9000 times.  You know why?  Because this leaves more time to play the =game= rather be played =by= the game.  ME2's great achievement was cutting out the dull, tedious poop and making a game I could enjoy without having to spend a ton of time getting my characters ready to play the game.  It was pop-pop-click-click PLAY.  No fiddling around with boring junk.  That is why ME2 is the best RPG of the last ten years.  The crap-to-fun ratio was strongly swung toward fun!

@Whatever: I'm not mindlessly bashing, but the core plot of ME2 is just not good. I'm not going to list the reasons why here. Twenty sided does a good job of explaining my grievances with the plot. If you like the plot, good for you. I envy the enjoyment you seem to get from that aspect of the game.

lol yup, especially when edi told me to go out on my next mission with my entire team, when I had no other missions left, leaving the crew to be conveniently attacked by the collectors. Or how I was killed in the first 5 minutes of the game, and revived 2 years later :D

What a great story.

It compares favorably with the story you sited... "here's how you rescue Imoen.... only $9.95!  Oh, you only have $8.00.  Well, go adventure!" :lol::lol:

ME2's story was a great riff on Seven Samurai.  classic, timeless, excellent.  What you'd expect from the best RPG of the decade.

Getting a bit carried away with the ME2 love? Surely it's only the best RPG of the decade?:wizard:

Id rather a game with a good story and plot then one that focuses on shooting gameplay. ME2's plot was terrible, and sorry that you find inventories too compex.

1. Get Awesome Gun Level VII.

2. Spend three hours throwing out/selling all Awesome Guns at Level VI or lower/anything with lower stats than Awesome Gun Level VII.

3. Get Awesome Gun Level VIII.

4. FDLSKJGREAL:JF#$Q#$%R#R%E!!!!!11!

COMPLEX, BRO.

And

          1. get fully automatic gun

          2. get burst fire gun

          3. purchase dlc for moar guns

Is so much better?

Yes, yes it is. Actual variation with every weapon being unique and useful in its own way and not just a stat change of the same thing.

And despite the one obvious good point about the plot hole, that analysis is shallow, misses the point entirely, and even containly flatly inaccurate information.

I'm just sorry you're missing it.

Yeah, except that we get only... what 2, 3 of each?

I agree with that, ME1's inventory was terrible. A big thing with the guns in ME2 was that there were so few, and they released more as dlc. They should have been in the game to begin with.

Hopefully they'll include moar gunz in ME3.  You know, more of the kind I don't have to pay for seperately.

Yes, more guns. More armor. More squadmate customization. My definition of RPG does include personalization and ME does need more - that you don't have to pay extra for.

I agree, there should have been more packaged in all standard editions of the game and not as DLC. But the idea is far better than that of ME1 and most old school RPGs in general.

For sci-fi, I'd agree. But yeah, they really need to add more weapons, armor and such with the game, rather then make you pay for it separately.

I don't think I'm the only one who's missing it. It's funny because you could say this: "analysis plot is shallow, misses the point entirely, and even containly flatly inaccurate information." Joking aside, I don't think you can dismiss the points rised in this analysis. I hope things improve in this regard in ME3. Alas I think this is getting slightly off topic so I will leave it at that.

You can use this as an excuse to abandon a losing point and that's fine.  However his summary of the evidence you cited stands.  The evidence you presented is poor and has plenty wrong with it.

Yes, ME2 is the best RPG of the decade.

Hahah!  ME2 had a great story.  ^_^^_^^_^

No ME2 did not. It was an abhorent plot with a ton of plot holes and retcons that made the game quite unenjoyable. Only reason ME2 exisits is to allow people to transfer there ME1 characters to ME3. And if you truely do think ME2 was a great game with a good plot then you are one of those blundering idiots I was meaning in my last post in this thread.

I could of asked in what way the analysis is shallow, misses the point and contains inaccurate information, because I've read it a few times and it is anything but how Whatever describes. But that would of pushed the thread off topic. I merely posted a link to analysis that describes why I think the ME2 core plot is poor (notice that I never said ME2 was bad in it's entirety).

The list looks bogus to me. Didn't even mention NWN2.

But Diablo?

People who still think ME2 isn't an RPG just don't get it, and never will. Stop feeding them, it's an absurd argument and it's more productive shooting yourself in the thigh with a staple gun.

To the Black Isle CRPG fanboys, I'll see your Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 and raise you an Elder Scrolls 1 and 2. Should I make the argument that "it's just not a REAL rpg without randomly generated towns and a free-form environment the size of Great Britain?"

No... because then I'd be a douche. There are TONS of different types of RPG's, from Dragon Warrior to Fallout, from Quest for Glory to Ultima.

If you think your own narrow definitions are the only ones that count, you are wrong, and quite frankly an (rhymes with bass bowl). Move along.

P.S. For the record I liked Kotor better than either ME or Baldur's Gate, but meh.
