I doubt he was booted! Why would they, he did a fantastic job with ME2.
Could range from personal life issues to Jack wanting to move on.

Wow! I wasn't aware you actually had an account on here. Very glad to see you around, sir.Jack Wall wrote...
Dear People Who Love Mass Effect -
So...maybe it's time to actually say something?
Working on the Mass Effect series was epic. It was mind-bending, soul-coughing, astral-plane traveling delicious loveliness - all the way. The games themselves are works of art. I wouldn't change one note of it that myself, Sam, David, Richard or Jimmy wrote. As you may have noticed by now, I am not returning to score the final game. The reasons are much too complicated to explain here, but suffice to say that the people at BioWare and I are still friends and we all really still like each other a lot. More importantly, the score for ME3 will be great and even more important than that, the game will liikely be (being BioWare and all) super duper fantastic.
Clint Mansell is cool. Enjoy.
Oh and thanks to everyone for the kind words here and over the years. For those of you who didn't say nice things, that's cool too. I'm still searching for the perfect chord. If you guys see it laying around, let me know, ok?
See you in another game in another crazy universe!

I agree with you. I'm personally not at all worried that Mr. Mansell is taking the role for ME3; he's a very good choice on BioWare's part and I fully support him. In any case, I would like to thank you for the awesome soundtrack you provided for the fist two chapters of the trilogy. I listen to it practically everyday.
Hope to see more from you soon!

To Mr. Clint Mansell loved Moon.
You have a lot to live up to. My only advice try to give us "Miami Vice horror in space" it must be synth and it must be techno. My favorite song of all time below.

Yup, I would think so. It's not like anyone here ever wanted Jack Wall to bugger off. But if it's his own choice not to come back, fair play to him. Plus he's giving Clinty his blessing, so thumbs up there. I hope he keeps making good music in the future
It's strange because I wrote a month ago that I wanted the writers to make the final mission in ME3 so epic that it would "make Jack Wall want to write a 9 minute epic like Clint Mansell's Death is the Road to Awe". So while it's a very sad to see Jack Wall not come back to do that, it's also a damn awesome relief that of all the people they could find to fill that void, they got none other than Clint Mansell!

I don't have anything against Mansell, he does good work, but why put him on this? Why not Brian Tyler, or some other "modern movie score composer not named Hans Zimmer"? There are plenty of them banging around, each with good work to his name, no better or worse qualified.
Hell, I'd have loved to hear Bear McCreary take a crack at it. He's damn good at what he does, could bring the intensity the war on Earth will require, and already has video game chops from doing Dark Void, which I thought was excellent.
Goddammit EA, this is why nobody likes you.

However he goes about composing, I sure hope he decides to put in the ME theme and Suicide Mission somewhere in the game, those are by far the most epic :innocent:

Sign #1138 that they're more focused with making ME3 an action game over a deep sci-fi game. 'Nuff said.
Yeah, because clearly Clint Mansell only does that type of work... Black Swan, The Fountain, Pi, Requiem for a Dream, Wrestler, Moon... Pfft - just a bunch of explosions and no emotional depth whatsoever...
Seriously, do you really think they kicked the guy off in order to replace him? I think it might be the other way round. They probably didn't look for another composer until after Wall of Sound decided not to come back. It's pretty unlikely that EA/Bioware didn't like their work.

Terror_K, I really wouldn't worry. The man has artistic integrity. Look at how he handled Tchaikovsky's music in Black Swan. Plus Jack Wall thinks he's cool.

If Mansel is going to conduct the scores, I want him to create something like this...
Preferably during the final moments of ME3.

Again, it's nothing personal against Mansell and his music... I'm just not convinced he fits. Just like I wouldn't think John Williams would fit Mass Effect even though I love his Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc. stuff. And there's nothing in any of Mansell's music I've heard via the many YouTube links in this thread so far that sounds anything like the likes of the original ME theme, Vigil, Noveria's music, New Worlds, much of the Illium music, Charges of Treason, Pure Krogan, etc. A lot of his stuff seems more moody and less --for lack of better terms-- "ethereal" and "cosmic" than Jack Wall and his teams does.
We'll see. It's not like me being unhappy is suddenly going to make BioWare change their minds of course. I'd just hate to think that they're purposefully trying to change the musical style even further away from the quasi 80's style it started with and more into "Modern Hollywood" territory.

That's a bit cynical - he didn't have to say it at all. Therefore him saying it is probably true. Why would he needlessly tell a lie?

I hope he will use some tracks from ME1/ME2 and keep those recognizable, like f.e. the Galaxy Map tune.
But anyway, very promising... I'm pumped already!

Again, based on Clint Mansell's work, I don't see this happening.
EDIT: most of his work is for Indie films, not for hollywood "blockbusters" (and even the stuff he's done for them is good)
