If some of you really cant see why some people arent so excited about it, its obvious. Consistency. Doing last chapter of a trilogy suddenly with different composer who isnt even a game music composer is somehow... not usual.
And sometimes, famous composers who score movies are threating scoring for games as second-class project.
I didnt hear any samples from ME 3 from Clint so I´m not judging his capabilities as for scoring a videogame right now.
But I´m not excited at all...and I like Clint´s movie scores. But games are very different. As Jesper Kyd said, game composers should try something different and not just copy movie music, otherwise it will never gain respect it deserves.
I really don't see why Clint Mansell would make things harder on himself by ignoring 2 entire games worth of music reference and start from scratch. The guy has a diverse range of experience with different genres of music; he's proven that he can seamlessly weave his own style with a pre-existing body of work; and a lot of his work is just downright incredible,
especially for films which weren't made for mainstream cinema. He strikes me as the kind of guy who has the artistic integrity to do a great job, provided the subject matter, not his salary, demands it. He can do this.
