Has anyone considered the possibility that this is a foreshadowing of Mansell's involvement with the Mass Effect film? What if they're trying to get us accustomed to his sound in preparation for what they hope will be a box office hit? It's really one of the few reasons I can fathom that would explain both Jack and Sam's departure and their replacement being a high-profile Hollywood composer.

Edit: You will be missed, Jack & Sam. Best of luck.

Oh and please stop talking like Mansell is on par with John Williams or Howard Shore. He is very much beneath them as seen from their resumes compared to his.

I agree. I don't understand why Mansell is so highly regarded as a film composer, when there are numerous other composers working today that easily outclass him in quality output and consistency. Some examples I'd cite include James Newton Howard, John Debney, David Arnold, Brian Tyler, Danny Elfman, Alan Silvestri, John Williams, Joel Goldsmith, Bear McCreary, Michael Giacchino, Howard Shore, Edward Shearmur, Elliot Goldenthal, Greg Edmonson, Harry Gregson-Williams, John Powell, James Horner, Patrick Doyle, etc.

Is it just me, but in comparison to ME1, wasn't ME2 a bit less "sci-fi" or less "synth" in terms of music? To me ME2 was more of that genric hardcore action game.

Well, from Gameinformer's reported interview, it sounds like Jack was already involved in several projects and the timing may have been off. He sounds OK with it, so I'll just wait and see if Mansell will;

1) Insure continuity by keeping a few of Jack's signature ME themes

2) Also bring his own style and creative spirit to the ME universe.

@InfiniteCuts: Don't jump into conclusions already...at least in that interview, Wall talk for himself only, so I see no reason Hulick won't be involved on ME3, as his RO work is already done, so yeah.

Unless...hmm... does Wall of Sound ALWAYS work together??

Haha, I definitely recognize the beat from ME2 -- can't exactly figure out which track though. WHERE IS IT COMING FROM? It's tripping me out big time.

Seriously. He's had some great soundtracks but he's repeated them OVER and OVER.

OK, so I just looked up the source code for this page and this seems to be the source. http://www.youtube-n...l=en&autoplay=1

Edit: ..and that link is apparently embedded in the post of the first poster on this page, "InfinteCuts". And it's set on autoplay.

To answer your Q's...
Earlier in the thread I said I wouldn't be involved on ME3. And no, Wall of Sound does not always work together. We're fully free to strike out on our own or pitch together if we like. :) All depends on the circumstances. Perfect example: I scored Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad on my own, my first solo gig actually.

I really hope this game remains consistent. Already established themes need to stay the same.

E.g. Illusive Man, I would love to see Mansell keep that song in tact, maybe ramp it up if the story requires. It's one of my favourite songs, I don't want to hear a new song, no matter how good it is, the game needs to remain consistent - you can't just change everything, particularly with a new composer.

That said, I will be keen to see what new stuff he ads to the game and what kind of things he does with already established themes. This is not time for completely new themes for everything, we need to see old themes back in action for ME3 to remain cohesive and rewarding to fans.

That said, all new areas and scenarios, I guess, are up for new scores, I just hope mansell can really build that music like Wall of Sound did.

Anyway guys, check out Sam Hulick's FB, he's made a hypothetical track for ME3, I'll sure compare it to what Mansell does in ME3.
