Listening to Lux Aeterna.

My body was not prepared for this.

Lol, I always feel a bit of a hipster when I see someone really like Lux Aeterna because I always end up saying in my head "Pssh, that's not even half his best work - They should listen to the OST from The Fountain"

I don't even like Lux Aeterna. Possibly because it's been in every fan trailer on the internet.

Im a bit more at ease hearing that he will be more of a "DJ" than a "composer".
So atleast the main melody of the franchise ain't gone.
I don't think we are looking at Lords of Shadow here, at least I hope not.

Where did you read this?

What they should really do is WATCH the film. ;)   Otherwise it's rather difficult to appreciate why it's often regarded as one of the best modern film scores out there (imho.....).

Yeah, that is true, I never can really seperate the music from the events of the film :)

This.

It's just way too mainstream for my taste.

I feel his music in general is too mainstream sounding. Theres just something not right about it.

I dunno, he's a great composer, but why get rid of the original composers? They did a great job before.

For the thousandth time in this thread: Jack Wall left on his own. Nobody "got rid" of him.

He did some good work in Moon:

I don't know how he will handle the high tempo synth stuff I hope will be returning from the first game.

To me, a lot of Mansell's stuff sounds the same. Most have that same underlying riff... just compare smoking aces - dead reckoning () and requiem for a dream - lux aeterna (). After a while.. .his stuff just sounds the same. If I hear the du-du-du...datta-du-du-du...datta-du-du-du...datta-datta-datta-datta-datta-du-du-duu... in ME3, I'm going to be disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it sounds great... but it's been done.
I like the sound of ME1 and ME2, but mainly ME1. I'm a bit tentative in putting my hopes into this composer. I feel we'll lose that scifi sound.

What do you think of this ME1 track ? I think it should be used in Battle of Earth agains the Reapers at apex of the battle when organic clearly have advantage over Reapers.

If I can do this in 30 minutes from scratch, and only by ear/memory (as an amateur musician):

...think about what Clint Mansell can do.

And also, I wouldn't expect him to stray too far from the sound of Mass Effect...

"Music to be designed in very close co-operation with the game developers."
says so on the confirmed features thread. Cheers! ^^

I watched "The Fountain" it is a powerful movie that has a powerful meaning that is left up to interpretation. I really enjoyed it. It struck me on a personal level. Clint Mansell's work on this film is great.

Man, the work of this guy is divine. It's hard to find another word to describe it.
.
I've been listening The Fountain - Death is the Road to Awe and Moon - Welcome To Lunar Industries and they are outstanding, especially the former. I'm going to watch The Fountain soon enogh. Not to mention Lux Aeterna and his score of Black Swan (A Swan is Born being my favorite)...
.
And everytime that I'm listening any of his songs and I remeber he is going to score ME3 a big hapiness comes to me.

I know Wall was good in bot ME games but the fanboys are acting like Clint mansell is not good. He is a very good composer and he has done many good scores. For those who have not heard his work before you simply write him off I suggest you listen to his albums score from The Fountain, Smokin aces, Black Swan, Doom (yes the movie sucked but the score was good.). I already heard some of the scores and he has preserved the old tracks as well and the new tracks sounds good. You can hear it in the 13 min E3 demo at youtube.
