Look at all of these poor people who haven't seen Moon. Other people have said it, but for those of you worried about him doing a science fiction score, watch Moon! I was just listening to the soundtrack before I read this thread, actually.

I liked Jack Wall, but this is the first ME3 news to really get me excited.

As much as I love the soundtracks from the first two games (particularly ME1) Clint's work is incredible and honestly anyone who doubts that this will be an excellent and outstanding score has either never heard most of Clint's work, or is just mad that there is no more Jack Wall. Clint has already proven that he can create extremely diverse sounding scores. He has done everything from more techno-based to orchestral.

If you truly believe he won't be able to take the style the OST's have had in the past, improve upon and surpass it, well, I don't even know what to say to you. Actually, I do. You shouldn't let your love for something blind you from an awesome opportunity.

At first I was upset but this is cool news. I just hope he doesn't abandon the better themes from 1 and 2. Specifically Uncharted Worlds.

Some of his work kinda resonate in the same way as Uncharted New Worlds and TIM's theme.  E.g. "Stay with me" and "Lose Yourself" (in my opinion anyway) :)

I wonder if Jack Wall and Sam Hulick will still be involved in some capacity.

i mean, they defined the whole mass effect theme... they created it.

While I do love the soundtracks for the first two games, this news is epic. ME3's gonna be a masterpiece, no doubt about it.

My first thought was that this was a horrible idea, even knowing Clint's work. Yet as long as the key theme of Mass Effect(as heard in: Mass Effect Theme, From the Wreckage, The End Run and Suicide Mission) remains intact and not just a brief musical cue(aka the Harry Potter films) I'll get by. A collaboration would be excellent. I also would mind hearing a few of the other key themes of ME carry over. An example would be of Superman Returns. Main themes stayed the same, but new ones were added to it.

I didn't bother to read through the pages, but I'm sure some people have already said it:

I'm sure Jack Wall is still involved... Jack will score some parts, where Clint will score other, more dramatic parts. I highly doubt BW would drop Jack on the final game of a series where he was involved in the first two. Both will most likely be heavily involved, and that could mean only good things for ME3!

The one problem that might pop up from this is whether or not the music will work with gameplay and overall sound design.

It'd be a shame not to include Wall of Sound in this as they have experience in the matter. And who knows, they might all end up working together in some capacity.

This was my first reaction.

Now that the news has soaked in, I'll just wait until the game comes out to judge. I listen to Clint's music all the time, but the thought of Jack not concluding with the rest of the trilogy is just bogus. If he's collaborating, cool. If he wanted out completely, cool, thanks for two amazing soundtracks. If Bioware replaced him just because they wanted someone else..that's not cool at all. Not one bit.

I already stated I don't mind Clint, but music impacts people in different ways. This news is like saying I wouldn't be playing as Shepard in ME3. Real talk.

Okay, I have made up my mind. Just as long as Clint here doesn't use

in Mass Effect 3 I will throw my support behind him. In my opinion Jack Wall had his decent moments but it is about time Bioware got rid of him.

Sounds like he's aware of the difference between working on a game and a movie: http://thequietus.co...iew-black-swan  (control-F for Mass Effect)

dude they have to keep Mr. Wall as a musical component too, mansell and wall could be really complimentive with the music...

:( he's not the Mr. Burns (different guy) who gotta catch em all...

Bioware really pulling all stops for the blockbuster movie styled game again huh? Guess the pressure from EA's really piling up, or they've gone over to the dark side of gaming... Shame. I was really looking forward Jack Wall returning to the ME1 music themes. A real shame. BTW, Lux Aeterna is overrated. If they wanted a real movie composer, they should have gone with Hans Zimmer, John Powell, or Steve Jablonsky.

Agree with Lux Aeterna being over-rated, but I disagree regarding ME1's music. A good chunk of them just felt bland and did not feel inspiring. Out of the 40+ tracks in-game, I only ended up liking 1/5th of the songs.

To name a few songs that I liked:

- Love theme
- Feros Battle music
- Virmire
- Escape from Virmire
- Escape from Citadel
- Choosing between Ash and Kaidan
- From the Wreckage
- Ilos Battle
- Therum Battle
- Victory
- From The Wreckage
- The End (Reprise)

I **** you not, I only liked 12 out of 40+ songs.

I didn't like every song in ME1 either. :) I like everything on your list there except choosing ash/kaiden. And I would have added Vigil.  I just want that same music theme from ME1 but with improvement, over the orchestral ME2 music. ME1's music fit the mood/theme of the game perfectly. ME2 seems like just another space game with another soundtrack. I liked some of ME2's music, don't get me wrong, but some parts were too blockbuster film like.

I approve of him doing the soundtrack for ME3. I did really wish that it was Daft Punk doing it, though.

Clint Mansell is the best composer in the movie industry right now. I can't wait to hear what he produces.

Am I the only one who thought that ME1's ending credits song was just awful?
It sounds like that 80's song at the end of Napoleon Dynamite.

In my opinion, while not perfect, ME1 had a much more unique sounding soundtrack. ME2 sounded in parts more like a generic blockbuster. I believe the perfect balance needs to be struck for ME3. Blockbuster songs aren't always a bad thing, they just need to be utilized at the right time.

I believe Clint can bring this.

@ Polite  I wouldn't really describe Clint Mansell as a "blockbuster" film composer... The guy's got muchos artistic integrity imo... Just listen to his work on Fountain, Pi, Moon, Black Swan, etc...

They were very obviously going for an 80s era vibe, as was the whole soundtrack.

It grew on me.

Should note the song existed before it was ME1's ending credits song. Faunts' M4.
