Well now that we know Aveline out as a LI we can assume that the straight LI are Isabela and Merril.  Both recycled characters from DAO.  Why would you do this?  Now I know I will get the flood of posts about how I don't know the characters and we have to play the game to get a real sense of who they really are.   But the whole point is we DO know who they are.  Isabela was a pirate that would teach you how to fight with two swords and sleep with anything.  If she suddenly has more morals about sex well then she is not the same character. And Merril is a stuffy Dalish Elf that is by the book of how her people do things.  Is she is not then they have changed her allot. NeaNeither ther of which are very apealing...  Bah this is just lame.
Ok this turned into more rant then I wanted but there you have it...

It could be Isabella is one of those people that decide they want to have fun when they're younger, and settle down when they're older and more ready for it. Nothing wrong with that. Live free while she's young, but when she gets to the point where she wants a more serious relationship, that's when she'll go for one, and not a moment sooner.

So a change over some point in the 10 years of the game would be perfectly understandable.

Didn't bioware say that LIs are not just characters that join you but are in the world, maybe you like one of them instead of the characters that you travel with.

I don't think there's anything wrong with them being characters from DA:O.

BioWare is capable of developing these characters to the point where having known them in DA:O may be rather trivial. Both of them did not get large roles in DA:O.

Fine by me. Isabela and Merrill were two of my favorite NPC's from DA:O, I'm excited to get the chance to know them better. We had brief interaction with them at best in Origins, I'd argue you are dead wrong to assume you already know everything there is to know about them OP. No offence to anyone but Aveline not being a LI is fine by me as well. I wasn't over flowing with anticipation of romancing a women that could bench press me just not my thing.

Just because you have a party member of the opposite sex (or same, if you float that way) that isn't a "LI" (brilliant word usage there by the way), it doesn't mean that you can't still form a great relationship with them. Not everything has to be about sex, and I know that's what most people are disappointed in not getting when a character is confirmed to not being a "LI".

I'm sure once you have a chance to talk to the characters in game and figure out why they are the way that they are, they'll appeal to you more. We really don't know much about any of the characters yet, so don't write anybody off- unless its their appearance you can't stand.

Honestly, it didn't click with me right away that the adorable elf girl in the preview video was the okay looking keeper's apprentice in the Dalish origin. There wasn't nearly enough to get anything concrete on her personality, plus she might have undergone some changes since then, so she's practically a new character. I got a bit more of a feel of Isabela, but it's only that. So they're...like-new.

A pantless, sexually liberated pirate and a cute former Dalish Keeper who has turned to bood magic to be precise(it has not been confirmed if Merrill is a virgin or not.)

thanks, well that sucks, honestly i am undecided between merrill and isabela, aveline was a clear winner to me but now that she is confirmed not LI.....all depends on if isabela can settle down with hawke in a serious relationship, if not im going merrill.
