As for Merril, they did change her from DAO already.  She was never cute or silly or anything; she came off very serious and a little dark.  As Gaider has said, "people change", so don't expect Isabela, Merril, or Anders to be anything like they were before.

Still, I don't see what you all have to complain about.  I'm lucky if I even have one person available to romance, let alone two.

I think Merrill is still dark.  I don't see any evidence that she is silly.  I think all the people making her out to be super cute are just reacting to her character model.  We don't know much about her, but the rumor is that she's dabbled in blood magic and is sad about leaving her clan.  

I agree that we are lucky to have anyone to romance at all.  I don't think romances are the most important thing for characters anyway.  I'd rather have resources going towards deep interaction in general.

I dunno, but the Merril thread is full of dev posts about how "cute" her dialogue is and how much they squee about it.

Which is nowhere near the impression she gives in DAO, regardless of how short her appearance was there.

No if someone were Asexual(which im not sure exsist in humans?) they would only be able to love someone as a friend. The other person however could have sexual attraction to the Asexual person assuming they are not Asexual as well, I'm not sure if you can call that a romance if only one person loves the other romantically.

I think the connection of love and sex is more a modern day thing anyway. So romance in the classical meaning doesn't have a thing to do with sex actually.
