To love someone in a romantic way you have to have sexual feelings for them or you just love them as a friend

Thus not a romance

It's more than possible to love someone in a romantic way but not desire sexual relations with them. Asexual people do it just fine, for instance.

I think the connection of love and sex is more a modern day thing anyway. So romance in the classical meaning doesn't have a thing to do with sex actually.

No.
Romance and sex are hand in hand by human nature. The only reason you get the feelings you get, AKA love is due to sexual attraction in your brain.
it's why straight men can't fall in love with men romantically due to being Straight and having no sexual attraction to them. You can love them as a friend but without any sexual feelings thats all they are, A friend.

I dunno, but the Merril thread is full of dev posts about how "cute" her dialogue is and how much they squee about it.

Which is nowhere near the impression she gives in DAO, regardless of how short her appearance was there.

Gaider also suggested the devs might have a weird sense of what cute is, which makes me hopeful.  I have faith she won't be some jrpg bobblehead.

Because without Any sexual relations it really isn't a romance.

The film industry disagrees with you.

Not really.
Even if a couple never kisses throughout a movie, they must want to or they would not be a couple.

They would be friends

Right, entirely agree, there must be romantic feelings involved for it to be romantic. This is quite some distance from gettin' busy.

You could not be missing the point more.

I'm not saying you need to have sex for it to be a romance. I'm saying you must have sexual feelings for it to be a romance.

Then you agree with the statement you responded to, and didn't mean to suggest "getting down" was indeed nessacary, despite the use of "because".

You can tell that the people whom are insisting that sexuality is not involved with romance have never been in love.

Which statment are you referring to?
And no getting down is not nessecary but the feeling of wanting to is. Sex is vital to romance. Whther it's just sexual tension or even kissing, All are part of Sexual interaction in humans.

Indeed.  I cannot fathom being in love with someone and not wanting to kiss them, touch them, and otherwise engage in physical intimacy.

And i said sexual Relations were necessary, admittley that was bad word choice, And my next post i changed it to sexual Tension is Necessary for it to be considered a romance.

What's the problem?

The use of the word "because" it would seem, but you're right, you clarified, so no problem.

Well that's really too complicated to discuss here.

I was quite upset about the Aveline news.  I still am a little disappointed, but now because it just seems (I repeat: -Seems- ) they are repeating themselves.  From a little bit of the dev diary, Isabella is emotionally distant but willing to sleep with you.  It just seems like a rewash of the Zevran subplot with a dash of Morrigan thrown in.  I loved the Morrigan romance in DA:O.  This is all conjecture at this point, but it does seem like the prevalent attitude is 'No Guy Wants an Amazon.'

Those who are only seeing the sexually liberal side of Izzy are missing one thing: she used to be married. Unless it was done simply for convenience, she is capable of deeper feelings.
There's something very appealing to that idea: she isn't willing to change, she wants to have fun, she wants to enjoy herself, she wants to sample everything life has to offer, but you're the one she'll still come home to in the end.

Independence is hot, but maybe it's just me?

I'm not denying that Isabela is capable of deeper feelings, but having loved her husband???? Seriously???
Unless I remember the Pearl scene completely wrong she didn't seem to be broken up about his death, especially since she had no problems sleeping with Zevran who was at least involved in her husband's death...and who she either hooked up with right after her husband's death or cheated on her husband with...

As for "Independence is hot", yes.YES it is. So far it makes her my favourite female character Image IPB

This is circular reasoning as far as i can see -- you are declaring that what one straight man feels for another cannot be ever romantic love because there's no sexual tension involved, but this is based strictly on your own definition that love must include sexual tension in the first place.

Consider if you start with premise that love doesn't need to require such tension, then suddenly it appears that why yes, straight men can love one another. Which invalidates the whole argument.

Or, alternatively, they have experienced this sort of love while --for whatever reason-- you find it unfathomable.

I think there is a difference between two men loving each other and two men in love with each other.

Men can love each other as brothers and friends and men can also be in love with each other as more than that (as in romantic partners).   They are not mutually exclusive, but they're also not one in the same.

I'm... kinda amazed it needs explaining.Image IPB

Sure, why not? There's a chance that she stopped loving him after a while, as happens in any number of marriages, but her not minding his death doesn't change that she may have felt differently had Zev killed him a couple of years earlier. That's what I like about complex characters: I think Isabela's going to keep me guessing for a good while.

Only appealing female character I've seen in the game so far is Cassandra.

But I've kind of gotten over the romances in these things. I don't feel ME1 had anything good on offer, either. ME2's were so-so. DAO's Morrigan only really sold me because of Claudia Black's stellar performance.

Well she did say when speaking of her husband "I never liked the greasy bastard" and then will have sex with Zevran the man who killed him, the warden of either gender, and a hardened Leliana...at the same time.

Yes, i have asked what you'd use to determine which sort of love it is (and why such criteria, once that's established)
