So why was the Signature Edition pre orders discontinued 2 months before release again?

So what is your point then if you not getting it? The Reason why it was discontinued is because the deadline for ordering it was reached. It wasn't really even limited since all pre-orders at participating retailer were upgraded to it if they had pre-ordered before the deadline. This gives them enough time to find out how many Signature editions they need to make.

Your getting the same content on your disc that everyone else is. The difference is that we will get codes for items that were created for the Signature edition(which is the collector's edition).

Your comments also make it seem like you had no intention of getting the game anyway and are just complaining after the fact.

after reading the comments on this thread. I see a fire about to happen. I feel it's best that the devs shut this thread down before things get worst.

yeah I always pre-order games I want in advance so I can pay them off gradually, when I heard about this deal I went and put $5 on it, and bam I'm in business, I get free stuff for something I was gonna do anyway

plus idk where this " discount on future dlc w/ sig edition" came from I dont remember that being part of the deal...

Why do I do these masochistic things? *sigh* No, we don't feel more "special," nor are we deluded into believing that BioWare loves us so much more than everyone else. I'll guess that anyone who pre-ordered early probably did so because:

A) They have a certain amount of faith in BioWare's ability to put out a good product.
B) They liked the extras that were advertised.

But yes, please continue on with those completely nonsensical theories - they're nominally amusing at least.

SE is for getting lots of pre-orders before anyone (who was not bribed by EA) even had the chance to review/criticise the game.

It's both, actually.

It was for diehards, unless you happen to use Steam then you  were screwed.  Now you have to pay upwards of $70 to experience the full game.  Not to mention some online vendors canceling SE orders for some customers.  There hasn't been one good, clear reason why they'd cut it off 2 months ahead.  It's not because of elaborate packaging or artbooks or anything.  But, it's been expected since EA started calling the shots, it was just a matter of when and how bad it would hurt.

I remember it was mentioned that you also get a discount for future DLC on DA2.

Is this for real?  Nasty habits you're starting to develop, Bioware.  Unless this demo is mindblowing, I'll be passing on this.  Can't support this level of nickle and diming customers.

Is there a buy it now option? I'd go as high as.....wait. This year is stacked with (possibly) better games.

Welcome to the real world.  Unfortunately DLCs are here to stay.  I used to be just like you and for the most part I've been really good about it.  Waited for the GOTY edition of Fallout 3 and didn't even buy DA: O until Ultimate Edition but sometimes I can't help it my excitement for this game is to big to wait.
As it stands your options are buy the game now and get whatever DLCs interest you or wait a couple years for them to all be in a pack if you can.
The truth is EA and Bioware are a company first and foremost we'd love to think that its all about the quality and the customers but money comes first.  EA isn't the only ones doing this.

I missed out on the SE also. I don't like the "carrot and donkey" mechanic that EA is using for DLC etc. Why nickel/dime your fans Bioware?

But this is the first time, that I can remember, of a game forcing you to pre-order 2 months in advance for no good reason whatsoever.  I don't mind pre-orders at all and I actually like the extra goodies.  Two full months ahead is absolutely ridiculous when they exclude a lot of customers in the process.  When I'm forced to purchase a pre-order through less than stellar retailers, because EA wants to control the market, then I have a problem.

So?

I would have bought whatever DLC they're going to release anyway. Stop acting like a child.

No one forced anybody to preorder something here. It was all about trust, trust that Bioware will deliver a great game. And for that trust you got rewarded with the SE. I preordered it and simply would have canceled it if the game wouldn't have lived up to my expectations. It's not that you have a to buy the game if it turns out to be crap simply because you already preordered it.  If someone missed that chance it's simply their fault and not biowares.

PS: Every retailer got the SE upgrade, no market control seen here.

SE is just collector's edition at regular price; it's nothing more than a sale like any store has. And guess what, those are for limited times too!

Unfortunately, I didn't have the funds necessary to purchase the signature edition. I am slightly bummed out that the Signature edition is no longer available.

There are so many tears in this thread, David Gaider is going to be full to bursting!

Seriously, though - it's just DLC that will most likely be sold separately at some point anyway. It's not vital to your game experience, is it? I honestly feel that if you felt super strongly about it, you would have peaked your head out from under that rock and checked out what was happening before now. There was plenty of time to pre-order.

I hope that people with the Signature Edition get a special forum icon when they register it. Then I'll KNOW I'm more special than all the regular edition peons.

Oh I know, but there were still bills to pay during that time. (Education, Health insurance, phone, etc)

Plus they're just tricking you guys to make you guys think that you're special but in reality they know they will get your money for future dlc. I buy the dlc anyways for Mass Effect 2 but I know they could care less what people think how good or bad their games are or their decisions on things.

If the game is good and the DLCs are good, why wouldn't I want to spend my money for them?

BioWare has 'tricked' me into buying all of their RPGs what with their fun gameplay and interesting stories. They've managed to 'trick' me for over a decade now.

You don't have to pay for a pre-order with most retailers and you can cancel any time.

At most, Gamestop stores make you put down $5, but I don't think that's true for their website.
