As we've discussed, preorders can be cancelled at any time without loss. But if a person has a preorder in for a version of the game that is no longer available, they will be less inclined to cancel their preorder. Of course they still will if they see something they absolutely hate... but for those who lose some confidence but aren't sure, they will be more likely to keep their money on the table.
That's my take on it, anyway.
Well, I'd agree with you, but for the fact that now I cannot order it anywhere else, the store where I placed my pre order to get the SE has cancelled it, claiming that due to overwhelming demand, they are out of the item. Which you can still order on their website, albeit, not the SE and for $10 more.
I know BioWare meant the free upgrade to be a treat for fans of the franchise, but it's not turned out that way at all, at least for me. Quite the opposite.
