With every other game I've played with multiple saves, including other Bioware games, your saves go in a list with the most recent at the top. Then when you select "Resume" from the title screen it takes you to the last save you had.

For some reason DA:O is saving games in a random order. Each save is stamped with the gameplay time and each one has its own save number, but the order they're listed is completely random.

Right now I have a level 21 character with over 50 hours of play standing at the doors to the roof before the final battle, and after that I have an Autosave of the game epilogues.
However these saves are listed far down in the list, at numbers 13 and 8 respectively.
At the top is a save I have from camp before talking to Morrigan where I'm level 7 with 9 hours of play.
Below that is my first save in Ostagar with 2 hours of play and after that is a save from Lothering after another hour of play.
If I select "Resume" from the title screen it takes me to my level 7 character.
If I put in my Awakenings disc and select import, my character's name comes up as level 7 with 9 hours of play and if I load that character I really am stuck as level 7, a mere shell of the level 21 character I spent another 40 hours on.
The import seems to only pull from whatever save is at the top of the list.

If I go to the most recent save and use it to save over that old save at the top of the list, the new save is again placed in some random location down below and whatever was 2nd on the list is moved to the top as the previous one is now gone.

I need a fix for this since I'm not going to buy DA2 without being sure I can import...

Er...you do realize that the game has an advanced import feature, right? That is to say, you can import a specific save instead of the 'default' one.

I'm guessing that will also feature in DA2, so I don't really see the problem as such.

And yes, I have noticed the rather random order the saves are in (which is why I sometimes, depending on the character, manually force an order upon them).

I've had a problem a bit like this

My problem is that while most games consoles "remember" the date and time and keep track of such things while switched off, Microsoft consoles only do that if plugged in.

This means that when you plug it in and start you have to reset the date and time either manually or by connecting to Xbox live (and I don't have a connection).

It is easy to forget to do so, or accidently cancel out or get the date wrong (such as wrong year in early January).

The saves are supposed to be set by date and time rather than by length of time playing so if the date is wrong it will be out of sequence

If this is not your problem then I'm afraid I can't help
