Hi there, when trying to launch the game I get the following error message:
"The game cannot launch because of a misconfiguration...Please reinstall your game."
I have now reinstalled the game several times but it is still the same. I have also tried several of the solutions proposed in online forums but none of them worked for me.
I have WIN XP SP3 and downloaded the game from Direct2Drive.
Can anybody help?
Thank you,
Joachim

I've never bought a digital download. I don't trust them, and am least impressed by D2D as a poor choice of vendor. I do know that the number of bad downloads is in the thousands, and complaints about them are in the archives here. I don't recall whether I have ever read any of the answers, but suggest that you do not waste time with the forum's own search. It's broken beyond effective usefulness. Instead, use a site: redirector. See the linked reference below.

P. S. Sorry about the exaggeration. Google says this:
" About 202 results (0.26 seconds) "

thank you for your reply. But I dont want to give up. I have realized that some people have found a workaround for their systems. So there might possibly one for me, too.

many people have found a solution in downloading through EA's own download manager. Since you have purchased the game already you won't need to again. A good percentage of the time this solves the problem. I'd say this is your first port of call. If you still have the same problem come back andf we'll look at other stuff.

I do not believe you understood me. An archive is a stored message thread from a prior date, and there are many of them that may have something useful in them, but the amateur version of a search offered by this site won't help find any but the oldest of them, and won't search anywhere other than the subject line.Gorath Alpha wrote...

P. S. This misconfiguration problem was bad enough for Bioware's Mass Effect 2 game, that there is a pinned message thread sitting on top of the ME-2 PC Tech forum about it.

For those of you who have this problem even after attempting the previous fixes, Try this. It is the only thing that worked for me.
1. Download and install Origin (http://www.origin.com/us/about) which apparently has replaced EA's Download Manager.
2. Uninstall and reinstall your game.
3. Launch Origin. You should see your game listed under "My Games" in the Origin console.
4. Click on your game and it should launch. I have yet to get it to work from the actual game launcher.
