Death. Without death, life has no meaning because it doesn't end. Any mistake made can be fixed if given eternity. Any good action can be repeated enough times to achieve a satisfaction in that area. More importantly, it would be boring as **** eventually. So, what can I do, I've already, circumnavigated the universe....45 times. Also why I think that both heaven and hell, if either actually exist (which I don't think they do), will eventually become the same place because eternity is a long ****ing time and eventually you will do everything.

As an aside, I am neither emo or goth, I just spend time thinking about this ****. Wondering about it only leads to wasted time, as I can testify to. All those hours thinking and I have nothing to show for it except for some slightly morbid philosophy that no one is going to care about.

I can't claim to objectively know what the meaning of life is but I would like to think that I have better reasons to live than to just spread my genes as often as possible.

I mean if the meaning of life was just about procreation then we'd be considered a successful species even if we were harvested by flesh eating aliens so long as there were 200 billion of us.

There isn't one.

You live and then you die.

"What is *the* meaning of life?" is probably different than "What gives meaning to your life."

Unless of course that is your answer.     Then, it is.

Well I guess eleboration is need on the meaning of life is procreation. We imporve our self in our daily lives, We get a better job, we work out, we study. why do we do this, for ourselves?  Why do women use make up.  the meaning is not to "spread our genes as often as possible, But to pass off the best possable genes to our offspring.  We do all of the above to  find someone with the best possible genes to give our offspring the best possable odds of passing on there genes.  In that way the Meaning of life is procreation.

Yeah, the question vaguely asks both. If you see there being "the" meaning of life, what gives you meaning to yours during the day to day?

What if it was 41 +1?  Huh?

Or maybe it was 84 / 2?

Whatever you want it to be. You decide what your life means.

My purpose is to root as hard as humanly possible against the Chicago Cubs to ensure that they never EVER win the World Series. ;)

Unfortunately, no one can be *told* what the meaning of life is; you have to find out for yourself.

Mass Effect 3 is released on November 3, 2011. We'll know the meaning of life then.

To be as true to your ideals and philosophies as much as is possible...

To challenge yourself to be more than you are...

To recognise that one day, you will realise you are about to die and you will want to look on your life and say "I did the best that I could"

TO remember that day could come way before you are expecting it so start living now.

To be more than the biological and selfish impulses we all have is a beginning....   and you don't get to decide when it ends. It's the journey that matters, no?

Too many people chase a certain destination - Fame & Fortune... every day should be a joy, not just the day we get what we're hungering for.

Wait, what?!  Being my own reason for existence isn't the meaning of life?

Can I get a refund?  How about a do-over or something? :?

Yeah, agree with most here that there is no "THE meaning of life", but rather the meaning you give your life. It's up to you what you set as your goals, or whether you set any goals at all. For some, life may simply be a work of art who's beauty is in it lacking any purpose whatsoever. For others, it may be to have a family and children (the purpose we are genetically predisposed towards), and still others it may be something wholy different.

I think all purposes in life that do not interfere with the freedom and safety of others (without their knowing consent), should be acceptable to society, and of course purposes that help others are rightly appreciated and often rewarded by society.

We are simply more than 5 billion sentient beings on this Earth with as many purposes to our individual lives, most of us trying not to step on each other's toes, in the pursuit of our purposes.
