This sounds like song lyrics to me. Probably from some Death Metal type band.Haasth wrote...
Organic life is nothing but a genetic mutation, an accident. Your lives are measured in years and decades. You wither and die. We are eternal, the pinnacle of evolution and existence. Before us, you are nothing. Your extinction is inevitable. We are the end of everything.

Those tend to distract you from the pursuit of the others.

It would be a nice quote if he quoted Erich Hartmann who said it on the first page.slimgrin wrote...

Life is a characteristic that distinguishes objects that have signaling and self-sustaining processes from those that do not, either because such functions have ceased, or else because they lack such functions and are classified as inanimate.

Well, nothing wrong with Conan quoted twice.

By that definition, a self-replicating computer virus is a life form. But that is a whole different discussion.
The relevance here is that 'definition' and 'meaning' are completely different things. We could all eventually agree on a definition of life, whereas every one has a unique opinion on the meaning of life.

Yes, seems some confusion between the "what" of life and the "why" of life. If people define by the "what" then aren't they relinquishing choice in their life?

Perhaps a better way to phrase the original question is "What gives meaning to your life?".

No. This is not a meaning of life. It is a definition of life or rather a description of what it is to be alive as opposed to dead.Big Papa CooCoo wrote...
Life is Defined as follows: "the state or quality that distinguishes living beings or organisms from dead ones and from inorganic matter, characterized chiefly by metabolism, growth, and the ability to reproduce and respond to stimuli"
This is literally the meaning of life
You failed the joke.
