Hello all,
I really love the atmosphere of ME, but no matter what I've tried, I cant get the sound to work correctly. Here are my specs:
Athlon 64 X2 6000+
ATI Radeon 4850 1G
2 gigs of RAM
Realtek HD onboard a gigabyte motherboard.
XP 32 bit
I downloaded the game from Steam. I've gone into the .ini file and changed those values, I've gone from hardware to software mode, I've re-installed and updated ALL drivers, nothing works.
EA's supoprt website just never loads. I'll buy a cheap soundcard to finish the game, can anyone tell me what sound adapters DO work for this game? Or any other suggestions would be most welcome.
Still cant fix weapon sounds, tried all listed fixes.

Instead of changing from Generic Software to Generic Hardware in the INI file, leave it empty!
Under both Alaudio and ISACtaudio titles:
DeviceName=
This forces the game to use OpenAL IF your onboard or soundcard supports it. This for example enabled Sound Blaster owners use EAX effects on Vista/Win7 without the need of Alchemy software.
There's my recommendaiton too, for gaming soundcards Soundblaster X-Fi serie is always a good choice, much better than onboards when it comes to sound quality. Though there is competition too, but I havent paid any attention to them, my years old X-Fi Elite Pro still offers me everything I wish from a soundcard.

I just found a soundblaster audigy 2 on craigslist for 10 dollars, I know it isnt offically supported, but I figure its worth a shot. I REALLY want to finish this game.
