Am I alone on this or was there anyone else in the world who was dissapointed we didnt get to kill Balak yet (for those of you who let him go to save the civilians back on X-57). I was thinking about that the entire time I was playing ME2, I remember my first playthrough of ME2 playing N7: Javelin Missiles Launched I thought I was finnaly going to get him but nope no Balak. He better be in ME3 I will let Earth burn just to kill him.

I've always thought that a proper counter for Balak in the Javelin Missile Launch assignment might be to be to change the mission outcome possibilities.
Players who killed Balak have the opportunity to save the entire colony.
Players who didn't kill Balak can only save half, and face an additional wave of enemies (led by Balak) which make it notably harder to make the timelimit.

Balak? That one terrorist I killed on X-57 to prevent him from harming any other sapient being?
He's dead.
He's dead.

And I get the feeling that even if you did let him live that the Hegemony probably killed him for his failure. I mean that spectacular failure doesn't seem like something they would let slide.

If you let Balak go he eventually sees the errors of his way and makes the most out of the second chance you give him
To repent for his atrocities he has formed a group similar to Garrus's to stop slavery and terrorism, plus Balak donates credits to human charities.
In ME3 he will be your Batarian squadmate, if you kill him well thats your problem you shouldn't go around killing people.

I was hoping to see him crop up again too, but I get the feeling it isn't top of BW's priorities. It would be a cool form to see the repercussions of your actions though, if he shows up doing the same again and you realise more people died by letting him live.

I always wondered why you could not just order Joker to shoot him down as he left. Same with Zeeads mission. It's like they forget you have a ship up there sometimes.

Same reason Balak couldn't just set the bombs to go off regardless once he got away, right when Shepard got close.
Actually, the Zaeed one has a better explanation: the Normandy can't stay stealthed for long, and so after dropping the shuttle would need to get far enoug away in case of a longer mission.

I shot his ass in ME1. Letting him go wasnt worth the risk plus my ruthless colony Shepard hates Batarians. I hate them too and wish for the option to light the batarian homeworld up with nuclear fire in ME3.

Eh I gave his sorry ass to the alliance to do what they want with him. Still a continuation of this "batarian rebellions" plot would be nice. ME is supposedly not finishing with the shepard arc. Perhaps that will be the subject of future games?

Considering his plans were foiled by a trio of Phoenix armor-wearing yucks in a POS truck, I don't really consider him a threat.
Then again, the same can be said for Saren.

I honestly wonder why almost everyone either saved the hostages or killed him. For the dramatic effect? Those who chose to chase after him should know, that a living Balak in alliance custody is worth more than a dead one. He's not a galactic Bin Laden but more a henchman with some power.
Still i doubt that we will see him again. Too many of those who even played the add on killed him already on the first encounter and just replacing him with some other random batarian to continue his cause in ME3 appears boring to me.

I let my gun do the talking, but I don't kill him. If I was to kill him, then the sacrifice I made wasn't worth it. Not only did I wanted to scar him mentally(phisically was a bonus) but I felt he had good informations.
