Liked some things about the Witcher, but just never managed to be really into it (part of it was due to Geralt and the inability to do much about his personality and gender). Still, I might get Witcher 2 sometime this year if they've gotten rid of that ridiculous "you just agreed to random sex without knowing. Now get a picture card souvenir" thing. Otherwise it's the bargain bin.

But CD Project always seem to have a tough time getting their message out. Not as much pre-release buzz as the 500 lbs gorilla of EA/Bioware so as hawat333 said I think this was mostly meant to get attention in the media.

I thought it was kinda funny

CD Projekt sure got cocky for a group of people that used to do almost nothing but polish translations of Bioware games.

And use Bioware's game engine when they finally make their own.

The Witcher 2 is pretty. I highly doubt it can hang with Dragon Age 2 as far as being an enjoyable game, though. Based on The Witcher vs. DA:O, which was no contest.

And Geralt? Psha. Call me when Elric gets here.

Sex cards are gone, just to let you know.

"First, we don’t have a generic fantasy world". Huh. He's saying that Bioware's effort to create an unique world is in vain? Posted Image

I don't know how they can compare when you can't play as male/female in witcher....they have seriously limited their fanbase...

It's based on a novel...they're not going to let you alter the main character like that.

I dont care about graphics and i never will.

Graphics can always be improved, story cant.

In RPGs story matters the most.

Well for W2 they do have their own engine. And it do look like a nice one at that. It will be interesting to see how their improved quest and mission editor will work.

I also like the fact that people in town seem to react when you do stuff. In an example they blow up a barrel with magic and people in the town has pretty slick and realistic reactions to it. Not bad at all!

Pretending DA:O was black and white? Really?

I'd have to agree that DA:O was more black and white than the marketing made it out to be. While there are choices that are more shades of gray (the choice of who to put on Orzammar's throne, or Morrigan's ritual, for example) a lot of the other quests kind of sold out, so to speak. *DAO SPOILERS* For example, when saving Connor from the Desire Demon, you can get the Circle to help you resulting in a everybody-wins situation. It would have been much better if they had simply kept the options to "kill connor" or "sacrifice isolde". There's a similar thing going on with the Dalish elves main quest. Convincing zathrian to end the curse was the clear "good" option. Would have been more interesting if the choices were limited to either kill witherfang or kill the elves.

I actually just finished playing Witcher. The story was decent, but it can't compare to the story in Dragon Age. Dragon age writing wins hands down. I will reserve my judgment on the graphics until I see both sequels on my computer. I have a sneaking suspicion that I will still prefer Dragon Age over Witcher for one because the story will be more compelling and two I get to personalize my protagonist.

Stopped reading after he said the Witcher doesn't have a generic looking fantasy world. Dude, really you do.

He's not wrong in alot of what he says, and it's not a matter of if I disagree with him or not, but most of what he says is unprofessional and pretty disrespectful.

From the two images they show about the games, The Witcher does indeed look better. Maybe the graphics are better overall. Though graphics on a top of the line PC will obviously look better than a console game, which is entirely possible where the DA2 screenshot was from.

The little I've played of The Witcher, it does have a unique approach to fantasy, thanks to the world and rules of the author. It's a setting I really enjoyed, and can't wait to actually have a PC which can handle it and other PC games.

Yes, yes he is. Didn't figure the witcher world to be any more unique though.

They think their graphics are better, and yes, their engine does seem to have nice graphics. However, if the combat in Witcher 2 is still that odious "click the sword with flames icon for a combo" thing from the first game, then it doesn't matter to me because combat in TW wasn't particularly enjoyable (as a result, I still haven't forced myself out of the castle :P ). The combat and voice-acting/stiff dialogue in W1 left me cold as well.

Gotta laugh at the non-generic world thing though. What, exactly, makes their setting all that more "unique" than any other fantasy world (vis a vis TW)? Hey, elite warrior-types in an imposing castles! Hey, sorcerers/magic-users! Hey, werewolves, weird monsters, mystical stones...and alchemy! Wow, I've never seen those in other fantasy games - nope.

I find it pretty humorous myself when people go "OH LOOK FANBOYS THEY ARE FUNNY" instead of posting a real post that's relevant on the thread itself, though I don't call them out on it.

Oh wait, just did.

Seconded! I mean I loved the story telling in DA:O but the end options where still on the black and white side. I hope/believe that DA2 being more personal will change that (and perhaps they learned a thing or two from the witcher :-)... let the flames begin)

The first witcher I just could not get into. This one looks good but so does dragon age 2 so I may play both.

I love CDP but sometimes their people's comments are a bit mean. Maybe it is a them being Polish thing (in terms of English not being their native language). I don't really know. I loved both DA:O and TW, so I will be getting both TW2, and DA2. Both companies, in my opinion, are doing some great stuff, though obviously differently, and I can respect that about both of them. As long as they continue to make excellent games I'll keep buying both of their products.
